Lower than previous threads for this unit - seems like an all-time low according to camel^3 - solid with Japanese Nichicon/Chemicon capacitors. Highly rated and Gold A tier on Linus PSU list

  • PSU prices falling quite a bit now.

Thats probably because GPU availability is so low there arent enough new systems, and the surplus (now PSU's) are overstocked, hence price reduction (back to precovid)

  • For items posted here at JW, expect to wait longer as they really get ozbargained.

I bought the RM850x during afterpay deal from them and it still hasn't shipped. Called them yesterday and they said they are waiting stock from supplier and would only be next week if any.

I got mine in like 2 days flat !

Not sure if anyone else is having the same problem as me, but the checkout screen is showing $169 still. It's $141 (+$7 shipping) on their eBay page though.

edit: called up JW and they mentioned to try again in about an hour while they ask their website team to fix it up

    • Post marked as Expired until the checkout is corrected.

This has been fixed now, just ordered

        • Thank you. Post marked active once more.

  • Of course psu prices start dropping right after I get tired of waiting and buy one at retail price -_-'

I think the rm750 is better for 20 bucks more.

  • Been using this for the last 4.5 years every day without any issues. Love it!

    • Isnt this the 2018 model with upgraded capacitors

      • Oh I wouldn't know. Don't really keep up to date tbh. I just recognised the model number.

  • Urgh, i paid so much more for this. But I didn't know what I was doing at the time. At least I got the right thing for long term use, even if it was for the wrong price. Better than getting the wrong unit (a cheapie) at a tempting price I guess.

Yeah thats right. You cant go wrong with this at least.

      • Actually, I do sometimes think whether I should have gone 750 or 850 to futureproof in case I upgrade GPU.But I'm probably not a flagship GPU type person so maybe midrange GPUs will always stay within the range of this PSU.

        • With a 650w PSU of this quality, I see no reason not to be able to run any GPU on the market. When the manufacturers recommend power supply sizes, they do so knowing that some people buy garbage power supplies which have poor stability when they get close to their maximum rating.

          • @Oyster59: Thanks. Good to hear. Although I do hear conflicting things, i.e. you should allow for lots of headroom to take into account power spikes.

One thing that may be different in my situation is that I've built a near silent system (5 3600 / 5600XT). Supposed theoretical power draw is around 290w. Thing is inaudible with normal usage, mainly due to fan curve adjustments. Fans do fire up when gaming happens tho. So most recommendations for silent builds suggest building heaps of headroom into the PSU. Not quite sure I understood the rationale, but I did it anyway. I would've thought the biggest factor is the 0rpm mode.
