Great set of headphones, I bought them myself last year a little cheaper than this but this appears to be the best price at the moment, actually had trouble finding many for sale at all when posting this. Probably not one for the audiophiles but I think they're fun to listen to. Plenty of bass however it's not overwhelming. Build quality is very good and I definitely recommend these in this price range. I have a set of ATH-M50x's as well but my Philips are the go to now unless I specifically want to use closed cans.

Add a V-Moda BoomPro Microphone and you've got an amazing gaming headset. Wide, immersive soundstage and good accuracy for shooters

have the very same setup lol

    • how would these compare to say the cloud II for footsteps in FPS games currently use them and don't like them at all.

      • I used to use Cloud 2. These are a significant upgrade in quality

  • I was looking at these once but ended up getting the Philips SPH9500 for about $125 which are also awesome. Best part is the fit, dont squash my head really comfortable.

    • I got a pair of 9500s on catch of the day maybe 8-10yrs ago for like $30. best headphones I've ever owned.

    • edited for wrong link

  • Winter is coming.

  • This can is favorite because it is easy to drive without amp.

  • Fun open back sound.

Takstar 82 Pro for closed back, similar fun signature and a chunk cheaper (when boughs OS).

Akg 371 is back to $175 on amazon US if anyone was considering that headphone.

  • How does this compare to the likes of:

    Hifiman Sundara
    Sennheiser HD6xx

    • HD6xx appears very difficult to drive than this.

The 6XX are high impedance, but they are also high sensitivity. You'll get them plenty loud even out of most phones, but a better amp feeding a cleaner signal (and more current) will take them further in terms of technical performance.

It doesn't. One is a vastly more detailed planar that as of the last 18 months has exceptional tuning, the other is the king of timbre, vocals and mids.

The only thing exceptional about this headphone at these price points is that it delivers a bit more bass and soundstage compared to most open backs, but it does so by ruining what makes open back headphones great: timbre, imaging and the mids.

Some better options in the price range aside from the HD6XX (at least when there's a sale) are the HD 560S on sale (game/EDM focused) and the HD 58X. The HIFIMAN HE-400i 2020 edition might be worth a demo too.

    • Can't speak to those two but I much prefer these to my previous cans, Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO / ATH-M50x.

Great bang-for-your-buck, entry-level audiophile headphones, especially at this price and quite possibly some of the most comfortable circumaural cans ever produced.

I would grab them while stock is still available as they have been discontinued since October 2020 due to the release of the (inferior and less well-reviewed) X3s and there hasn't been a deal on these since last December.

Very colourful, warm, bassy, V-shaped sound signature that will go well with most genres and tastes and as mentioned, very easy to drive.

One of my favourite things about this set of headphones is that there is no fake leather. I am really happy with the ear pads, can get a little toasty in summer sometimes but definitely not uncomfortable, I can wear them for hours with no discomfort whatsoever.
