I hope and dreamed this would be AvE

    • I love this video because there's no way a tool company like Makita or Festool or Hilti would have such bad QC on the clamshell/grips/seams.

      Crazy joke for $900.

    Thanks, bought two…

    • I wonder if people neg you because it's you or your comment?

      • What makes you wonder that?

        • because I don't think that comment deserve a neg and I have seen similar comment without a neg..

  • IMO this is way too expensive for what it does. The cheaper ones work very similarly to the Hypervolt which has some low level evidence: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7675623/
TL;DR: "Therefore, we suggest including a percussive massage treatment in a warm-up regimen to optimize the flexibility level of an athlete, without losing muscle performance."

    • what brands do good cheaper ones?

      • Theragun G3

      • Couldn't tell you, they mostly seems like they're from the same factory that have been slapped with random brand decals. I've bought about 5 of them in the past and the 'company' doesn't exist anymore. Guns still work great and were about $60 each. For comparison, I have this G4 pro too. It's more like a punch feeling then the vibration from the others. In practice, it's too uncomfortable for a lot of people.

I grabbed a Renpho from Amazon for just over $100.
It does the job for me.
A family member loaned me their Theragun G4 as I've been running a lot and I found it seems to help with recovery or at least placebo 😁.
What it does do well is loosen up your muscles before you do stretching and that's a huge benefit for me as I've got very tight muscles.
Regardless of the above I don't think it's worth $900, especially with only a 2 year warranty.
The Renpho I purchased does the job for me. Yes it's stroke isn't as long but I don't really think it makes that much difference.
I pretty much run it between 15-20 (20 is max) when using.
Warranty is 12 months on the Renpho. If it dies after that I'll buy another one.

      It's not just athletes tho..

My muscle tightness causes back issues. This will loosen it up to a point that I can release my lower spine without going to the chiro as often. So I can tell the difference. It's useful yes but it's not a miracle worker.

      • Do you use theragun? If so, do you find it "too much" or does it work well?

        • +1

Just don't push down as hard until you're loose enough to take it harder.

I have a very high pain threshold but I don't think thats a factor.

These kind of products have a generic name: “Stupid Tax”

  • I still don't get why these things are popular

When you run 100kms per week training for a marathon, then you'll understand (for massage guns in general. Not for this overpriced pos)

    • I didn't until I bought the Renpho from a recent deal.

It's amazing. I suffer from incredibly tight glutes, which in turn lead to lower back pain. Using this on the glutes is an almost instant release. Great before bed, as I wake up with released muscles and no pain.

It's also great for niggles and after excercise soreness.

The g3 is a better buy at low $200's. Despite all the bitching about noise, it's fine. Maybe rude at the gym tho.

I've had the theragun g3 for over 2 months now. It's great, helps me with my shin splints and eases DOMS.
To me, it's a "why didn't I buy it sooner" item.
I do not think the g4 pro is worth 4x than the g3 though..

    • Ya if I can get a G3 or a lower end G4 for <$300 I think that's reasonable.

Like others have said, its a great tool for runners, I find it near impossible to work hip-flexors without a masseur or tool like this.

      • Hip flexors fixed with Couch stretch and correct form, specifically of the pelvis (posterior tilt). Also possible with a lunge stretch.

        • Huh I looked into the couch stretch but it seems I should be doing Butterfly stretches.

I didn't think that was a legit stretch, but the yoga pants lady is pretty convincing.

  • I have a G3 ($229) and Renpho ($129) - they are completely different devices - I use them on different types of muscles and at different times eg at warmup, when injured etc - My kids love a foot massage from the g3!

  • can't wait for G5 which will be around $2700
