Google Nest Hub (Chalk and Charcoal) $95.96 Delivered @ Costco Wholesale Online (Membership Required)

40

Costco are clearing out their stock of Google Nest Hub devices. Looks to be the cheapest price out there at the moment if you're a Costco Member. (Nearest is $98 + delivery at Kogan or Instore at Officeworks from my quick research).

Costco are clearing out their stock of Google Nest Hub devices

Is there a new model coming out?

i believe these are the really old models (without the inbuilt nest camera)…the new gen sits around $250

I think you are confused between the 'hub' and the 'max'…

    • +1

      Yes.

The 2nd Gen has just been released. Some minor improvements included machine learning and a "sleep sensor" for use in the bedroom.

      • Edit. pre-order only in Oz.

      • sleep sensor requires ongoing subscription….

        • Yes, that's bloody cheeky, particularly given they say all the data processing is done by the device itself. Essentially paying $ to "uncripple" the item you already own.

          • @ash2000: I've been a bit unfair - will require an ongoing subscription (probably)

Sleep Sensing features are subject to your permissions and settings. They use motion, sound, and other device and sensor data to work, and require placing the device close to the bed and calibrating the device for your sleeping position. Google Assistant, Google Fit and other Google apps may be required for full functionality. Google Assistant requires a Google Account. Not intended for medical purposes. Consult your healthcare professional if you have questions about your health.

After we've received months worth of your personal data, we'll lock the device (that you've already paid for in full) in order to extort you for more money to pay for the same features you've enjoyed for free all this time. Hopefully you'll have been lured in to using it for so long that you'll want to start paying for something you never had to before.

              Ahhhhhhh, no. Hard pass.

Yup. There is a new model on the way.

  • Due to no reviews before going on sale, I don't think this new version has much to offer above original. If you wait a couple of days you can check reviews, and if no real improvement buy the cheaper old model

  • Will the old version get the new UI update?

    • +1

Yes I have the old version and I’m on the preview programme and have been using the new UI for months

what do these things actually do? i can see if plays youtube and spotify but i have a TV and speaker for that.

    • ok google, turn on the lights in the kitchen
oh google, show me the weather forecast
ok google, show me recipes for alligator

      etc

  • Was going for $72-$78 in December (that was without any latitude or new customer credits).

I'd probably hold out for a bit.. I'm sure other places will have excess old stock.
