On one hand this would be really useful but on the other hand it would make life much more boring than my current solution of standing on a chair on one leg and tip toeing with a chainsaw to get to get to the hard to reach places.

I have the PXC battery powered one and it does the job fine for DIYer.

  • 750W vs 1100W from Aldi..

Anyone used either and can comment?

    • the Aldi one looks like a mini chainsaw connectable to their pole… looks top heavy so might not be good choice

I have the Aldi version and done some serious work with it. Well built, which gives it some weight. But I can still operate it at full extension one handed (gives the biceps a good work out, or triceps if doing it over head).

I also have a Ryobi chorded version at twice the price. It is an absolute disgrace. The chain bar is held in place by 2 plastic tabs. Both broke off and the chain then falls off. Its dangerous and I have reported it to Ryobi and they have no interest in it. The Aldi version has a metal surround supporting the bar (using metal to support a chainsaw, who would have thought). The new Ryobi battery version now has the metal surround as well, the chorded still plastic.

      • How long is the extension on the Aldi model? Got some tall palm trees around the pool but couldn't see the specs in the ad to know if it would be suitable

Off memory 2.3m fully extended. Assuming you are around 1.5m at the shoulder, your reach would be around 3.9m. The Ryobi is slightly longer…but rubbish built. I still use a ladder, climb up the tree to make cuts (but they are above the powerlines height). As long as it isn't one of those stringy palms, it should cut through like butter.

    • the separable chainsaw looks handy. i don't know how much heavier it is. they both have AC motors hanging on the end.

  • mine went blunt pretty quickly. still did the job.

    • you need to know how to sharpen the teeth on the chain

i have the 1800w ozito as well. That lasted a lot longer before requiring sharperning.

Mine broke after 1 use. Fortunately, bunnings is pretty easy with return. So i got my work done without spending anything

  • any Ozito battery specials?
