ASRock A520M-ITX/AC AM4 Mini-ITX Motherboard $99 + Delivery @ PC Byte

450

Cheapest AM4 ITX mobo that is decent. Unlike A320, A520 now support precision boost overdrive. It has 6+2 phase VRM, a useable VRM heatsink, NVME ssd heatsink, three fan headers and ARGB header.

good to see cheap ITX boards are being made, IMO for 90% of users this is all they really need. smaller cases, smaller PSU's less e-waste etc etc.

Probably 99% really, PCIE cards other than graphics are basically dead for most

    • Isn't it worthwile to get a B450i or B550i for a mid-high end ryzen system to utilise XMP RAM profiles?

      • I think this motherboard does use XMP profiles.

        Edit: It does:

        • Supports Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

Great board that meets most users/gamers’ need. No fuss no nonsense.

  • Wow, nice price!

Can fit 5 gpu for mining. Honestly not bad for the price.

  • Great price, these were ~$180 when they first came out.

I got the Gigabyte A520I AC for $140 (after discounts) a few months ago, really happy with it.

    • any advice on how to use PBO?

      • It should already be on by default.

Enable advanced bios, I think it's under CPU options.

        • so just leave it on 'auto'?

          • @BaeSuzy: Yeah, to check if it's working open up task manager in Windows and check the CPU performance, do something that stresses the CPU and if it goes above the base clock it's boosting.

  • Anyone know if this would support the 2000 series Ryzen processors? I couldn't find any info.

I have a 2700x that I recently replaced with a 5800x that I'd like to use in an itx build.

A520 does NOT support 1000 / 2000 series by default so assume no unless someone has posted solid proof.

Download MC Extractor here, download the latest bios, open the bios with MC Extractor and look for the corresponding CPU microcode on the list. If it's there and supported it will boot, but for full functionality it's best to look for people who have actually tried it.

My Gigabyte A520I AC works almost perfectly with a 3200G (Zen+ like the 2000 series).

      • +2

for anyone who wants to know - I ran the MCExtractor on all the bios files for the Asrock a520. No mention of the Ryzen 2000 series or the 1000 series :(

was sitting between getting this or the b450 yesterday for hours. ended up getting a second hand b450itx

  • Thanks just what I needed. Build is almost complete, now I just need to wait for a 3 series gpu to go on sale

Buildzoid's review seemed pretty negative. Basically suggested you avoid it at all costs e.g. no safety cut-off and subpar VRMs. Recommends the Gigabyte if you insist on using an A520 motherboard. Suitable for an office PC type situation only.

    • He said only get the itx one, since it is decent (not the best). If u use a 65w to CPU, u will be fine. The other a520 mono are not good.

  • anyone used pbo on their a520? needing direction and advice on how you did it =)

  • so cheap!

  • wow comes with onboard WiFi, too!
    good deal!

  • +1

Does good VRM cooling really matter for an A520 board? you can't overclock anyway and are limited to PBO.

Going to upgrade my little server PC might grab this then look for a good deal on a Ryzen 3200g

    • I was thinking this board would make a great HT PC but it's CPU support list is VERY small. The cheapest CPU I can find for it with on-board graphics is $300. It's because of the chipset.

      • 3200g is about $180 to $200 but just hard to find stock

    • +1

See above, the 3200G may not be supported.

      • Yeah the 3200g / 3400g are actually Ryzen Gen 2 despite the name

        • Supports AMD AM4 Socket Ryzen™ 3000, 4000 G-Series and 5000 Series Desktop Processors

        3200g is a 3000 series processor isn't it?

        • No. Easy mistake but the budget 3200 / 3400 actually used the last gen processes.

      • Oh wait I see on the full list it isn't there. I'll pass then.
