NGL, it's kinda impressive the amount of crap specialty sets Lego manages to flog to people

    • At least these almost qualify as actual puzzles.

  • Why so expensive, surely someone with a decent collection can make that anyway.

      In this style, no.

      • Do you mean the colours? Cus it's basically just a baseplate and round 1x1 tiles.

        • I don't see why you couldn't reproduce this using the basic parts. The key pieces here are the 1x1 round plate in different colours. I had a quick count and it looks like the Iron Man piece is made of about 14-16 discreet colours. You can buy most/all of these online. They are then mounted on 16x16 plate sections which are a bit thicker than normal baseplate.

So it looks feasible to recreate this by buying the individual parts. Plus you have accurate images to work off thanks to Amazon :-)

Edit: I should add I don't think you could buy the individual parts for less than the $99 being asked here.

          • @airtime: Yeah that's understandable!
It blows my mind that I could print this for like $3-$5 in ABS plastic. 3D printing is by no means a cost effective form of production so I cannot even imagine how much this actually costs to make compared to what they're charging for it.

I do get there would be licencing being paid for and what not though. Still, margins must be goooooood.

$99 RRP should've been standard for these sets, it's still a pass

The art collections will be discontinued imo

  • Are Lego bricks made of recycled plastics? Or are they generating more new ones?

  • Thanks, great price, bought one Mickey Mouse.

    • Did you successfully redeem the Little Birdie Voucher for it?

      • Got the voucher from little birdie this morning, but it doesnt seem to work when I attempted to redeem at checkout with just the one set :/.

      • Yes it worked fine.

  • Mickey Mouse is in stock

    • Sadly looks like it’s OOS again
