Hi, when does the sale of Easter eggs chocolate usually start?

Have a guess…. Your choices are

Before Easter or After Easter? :)

      Before… definitely before.

  • Haven’t easter eggs been on sale since boxing day?

  • not today! only 25 percent off, and stock was low

Don't think there'll be any sales at some shops, not much stock left at all at my local supermarket earlier today, and nothing was discounted apart from catalog specials. You might be lucky and have nearby shops with more stock though.

  • No stock in my local Woolies today …

Each year they are getting smarter at estimating demand, resulting in less left over chocolate. Woolies, Coles, Target, Kmart, Big W, are all worth hitting up the morning after Easter to see what they have left, but I've been a bit disappointed the last couple of years.

Gone are the days of seeing half price Lindt Bunnies for a couple of weeks after Easter. I think now you're better off picking them up coming into Easter, as for the few weeks before, one or two random Easter chocolates will be half price in the catalogues.

Does your friend lack opposable digits?

Fair dinkum there was either not enough stock, or people went ape wire for Easter eggs this year but I’ve been struggling to find anything Easter-esque. It’s all gone.

People bang on about not buying Easter stuff too early because it’s ‘uncouth’ but if you don’t good luck finding anything. It sucks for anybody who works a lot, has younglings and wants to get them some Easter gear. It’s a missed opportunity for retailers this year at least because a lot of people were annoyed that nobody had any stock.

But if anything is left it is usually the Tuesday so they can just clear it out.

  • A week ago I was at my local supermarket and thought they seriously over-ordered easter eggs… But come to the day before Good Friday I went again just to realise it was too late, 99% gone…

  • Today at woolies, only the licorice eggs remained. I think they'll remain there until the reject shop buys their old stock

  • I got all my eggs during the week, most of it was 40-50% off…kids had to go to Woolies today for something and said it was a madhouse
Don't think there will be much left over for Monday by the sounds

  • Usually Lindt has their 60-75% off for 1 kg sales after Easter.

After the Easter holiday has ended, and even cheaper 1 week afterwards if it is still in stock.

  • Thanks everyone for the answers. So probably no big sale this year (I haven't been in a supermarket in 2 weeks, I was not aware that they've all been sold!)

  • Christmas time.

Not far off. The hot cross buns have been selling since Christmas.

  • Saw nothing at my local shopping centre across coles or Woolworths today. Looks very oversold or under stocked from the usual.

  • Usually yesterday or today, I thought

Heaps at Kmart in Clayton (M City).

    Cadbury bunnies $2.3.

Various Egg boxes like Maltesers, Crunchie etc. for $4.5.

    Bags of eggs $2

Around 5 years ago, I stumbled at Kmart on Monday/Tuesday and bought chocolate for 50c a piece - everything was 50c, buckets of eggs, trays of eggs and bunnies.

Miss those days, now there are hardly leftover chocolate.

    • I am with you there. I loved the good deals, and once remembered buying cadbury creme eggs for 20cents a piece… but now the stores do super-accurate planning.

  • Question, why don't you just buy normal chocolate blocks? Easter eggs, bunnies etc are usually more expensive

    • +2

Easter eggs taste better… Sort of like how Aero, Flake or Twirls are better than a block.

Back 10+ years ago, Red Tulip was the best tasting easter chocolate, then it was purchased by Cadbury and now tastes like compound chocolate.

Quite a few at 50% off at Target Perth city centre today (hay st mall end, ground floor): dairy milk, chocolatier, Lindt etc

Kinda feels like the manufacturers produced less this year, usually there's shitloads of excess
