You only got it cheaper because you bought accessories (i.e. office and the white sleeve). The lost margin on the MBP would made on those accessories.

EDIT: Forgot to mention new MBPs are being released soon.

EDIT: This price is 10% off so it's not really special.

    Basically, you got rorted.

meh. most apple users don't mind being rorted, because they are paying for 'quality', R&D and lawsuit chest to sue competitors. ;)

    • Haha i didnt get it for myself, i got it for a friend. I Knew it would be one of the cheapest deal you could get. And no i didnt buy the accessories to make it cheaper, my friend just decided to buy it. otherwise it would of been MBP+Office student 3 licences for 1409, which i think is pretty good for MBP.

My sister got hers from JB for $1250. Also got a leather Smart Cover for $20 :).

  • sorry not that much of a bargain. MBP 13" retails for 1399 less 10% markup brings it down to 1259.10 which is good but not amazing. Myer had the mac office student (3 user with free wireless mouse valued at $59… on bxing day) for $129 and as for the sleeve not sure about that.

  • Yea a pretty rubbish deal

  • Nevermind what they say mate… you didn't get rorted

    normal price. no deal

  • Not bad, but not a national deal.

  • If you remember, last year Apple ran a "get back to school" student promotion: get a free ipod touch 8gb with purchase of macbook (any). After ebaying the ipod + student discount from official website, the actual laptop cost less than $1,000 which was a king deal.

Anyone who wants a MBP should wait and see until late-Feb/early March, especially if new generation models are coming out.
