Hi Ozbargain!

Aidan here. So, It’s been a while…

It was about this time last year that Covid was really taking off and the travel industry was pretty much shut down.

It’s mind-boggling to think that we have all been living through covid for over 1 year now!

My wishes go out to everyone and I hope that you all are looking after yourselves and your loved ones.

In light of the trans-Tasman travel bubble opening up, we wanted to offer our NZ travel SIM stock for 30% off.

The deal is available until the 19th of April.

If you or someone you know is travelling to NZ, then I hope this helps!

  • It’s a fuss-free way of connecting when you land

  • It’s great value for money - especially discounted

  • Prepaid with no hidden fees or roaming costs

  • 100% Money Back Guarantee with Aussie live support & service

  • Hey, sorry how long do i have to activate before it expires? couldn't find with quick skim, also am i to know the number prior to restarting phone (IE before i land?)

    • Hey Blinky,

The SIMs don't expire, so you can hold onto them as long as you need.

When you activate it, it lasts 30days.

      -Aidan

      • Thanks! and before activation, will i know what the NZ number is going to be? or only after activating (will have a quick flight change so trying to know quickly in NZ!)

        • The mobile number is labelled physically on the back of the SIM :)

You will know as soon as you receive your order.

          -Aidan

      • im still holding mine i bought from you in Jan last year :)

  • Hi Simsdirect, what NZ network is the only unlimited SIM on?

    • Hey McGeeski!

We use the 2degrees network for our NZ SIMs.

      -Aidan

    Perfect for our upcoming trip.

    • Thanks sickburn! Definitely something that we'll be looking into later down the track :)

      -Aidan

  • What network will this be using in NZ?

    • Hey Monty, our NZ SIMs use the 2degrees network :)

Awesome, hope you have an awesome trip over there!

Appreciate the support and business :)

  • I like to support the smaller guys but it's hard to justify when Optus offer a $20/10GB international roaming travel pack that uses all 3 networks in NZ for cheaper.

You can register a sim for $11 ($1 sim cost, $10 recharge cost) so for a total of $31 you get 10gb of data. If you already use Optus it'll only cost you $20.

Yes it's only valid for 14 days so if you plan on staying longer than that you'll need to buy 2 of the roaming travel packs.

    • +2

From old threads I remember people saying you don't need to recharge at all. Just activate and apply the roaming pack

      • Even better. Thanks for info (going to NZ May 2).

    • That Optus deal is clearly good value (esp for Prepaid), but very odd there are no standard call minutes included? Seems a missed opportunity - I want to be able to make and receive calls within NZ and back to Aus when roaming in NZ - I don't understand why Optus doesn't have an option to pay 30-40 bucks for the two weeks to get calls as well.

    • Probably good value…until you have an issue and have to navigate the Optus customer support for help. You’ll need a holiday after that experience.

  • +3

    I highly recommend these guys.

I've purchased off them a few times pre-covid for Japan trips, very easy to use activate sims and use.

    Best customer service also!!

    • Thanks for the support Dave! :)

Used their SIM card for a trip in Europe 2 years ago - could not fault their service.
Coverage across 4 countries (out of 4) - and great having data included for Google Maps, Uber, looking up things to do locally etc.

    • Thanks for the support Deals. Glad we could help out with your Europe trip :)

  • +1

Good to see you back Aiden.

Although had a sad reminder that my honeymoon was cancelled. I had 2x Europe sims ready to go pre COVID.

    • Thanks Stood. Feels good to be back!

Sorry about your honeymoon man, hopefully this whole thing clears up in the near future.

Welcome back to Oz Bargain. Gets a +1 from me for the awesome service you’ve provided the community in the past. I hope it lasts!

    • Thanks Chazz. Appreciate the support!

  • The first time I was in NZ I bought a travel SIM from a place at the airport and was unable to SMS pictures back to Australia (to send to people not using whatsapp/signal/etc). Do these SIMs include international MMS?

Also it says "Unlimited call & texts to standard Aussie numbers" - as it says texts, assume that means unlimited calls to Australian mobile numbers?

For the unlimited plan - does it reduce to 1mbps after exactly 40gb? As that's not actually unlimited, and therefore shouldn't be advertised as such…

    • +2

Hey AJFox, our NZ SIM comes with MMS & Unlimited calls back to Australia mobile numbers.

Our current stock is a true unlimited SIM. 2degrees recently changed their plans around, once we get a new batch we'll update the details :)

      -Aidan

      • If we're there for over a month, is it possible to renew on the true Unlimited? Or will it revert to the new 40gb limit?

        • +1

Hey Stinky, if you were to renew whilst over there you'd only receive the 40gb plan unfortunately.

          -Aidan

  • Hey OP, pretty keen to grab a couple of these for our trip in a couple of weeks.
Just want to confirm.. the 2.5GB SIM shows as in-stock on the website but you've mentioned in the post above that you're awaiting stock in 10 business days. Just wanted to clarify that so I can place my order.

    Cheers!

  • +1

    Hey Saiyan,

Awesome! We need to get that fixed, the SIM cards are currently on pre-order and we won't have stock until early-mid next week :)

    -Aidan

  • Great offer!

Am I able to purchased an Unlimited SIM and hotspot from it for my other devices? These would include my iPad and MacBook for example.

    • Hey Tsugnev!

Yep, all the NZ SIM cards will allow for hot-spotting to other devices :)

      -Aidan

  • Hi,SimDirect:

I booked my trip in late September. I would like to know if the sim card will expire if I purchase it now and activates it in September. Cheers,

    • Hey Apple! Our NZ SIM cards don't come with a shelf life, so it will be perfectly fine to hold on to until September.

The 30-day expiry will start ticking down once you activate the SIM card :)

      -Aidan

  • Hi I was looking to by the unlimited Sim but it shows as out of stock? Will it come back in stock before the sale ends?

    • Hey Magnus, we'll be receiving some stock mid-late this week. I've just popped them on preorder, so you'll be good to purchase now :)

      -Aidan

      • +1

Thanks for that. Putting in an order right away.

  • Hi OP, I ordered a NZ SIM on the 13 April. Looks like the 2GB SIM has been in stock for a few days but I haven't seen anything ship out yet…

    • Hey Ninja,

      Haven't forgotten your order!

We will be shipping out all unfulfilled orders on Monday at 3 PM.

Sorry for the delay, SIM arrival took a little longer than expected.

      -Aidan
