    "Be happy always". As someone who works in the mental health profession, I would suggest steering clear of any book that aims to have you "be happy always"

      The book could contain very useful insights for people who are suffering. It's better to set expectations but encourage trying things rather than just crossing it off. Especially if you don't have a better suggestion.

      This is my biggest criticism of CBT. It is very happy clappy and a bit often "just think differently".

        That's pretty much what CBT is not. It is very strategic and requires specific techniques and measurements. Research shows that done right it can have positive outcomes.

        Throwing around "always happy" as in the book description should raise alarms.

      • CBT focuses on the behaviour that is manifesting from a root cause. The cognitive side looks to make changes to the root cause to enable cessation of the behaviour.

    MoodGym has a good reputation amongst professionals. There's a bit of background to it here https://www.emhprac.org.au/directory/moodgym/ but it's got a lot more going for it than this dubious sounding ebook.
