    • Did you click through from our site? The 120k offer should have been clearly displayed.

      • Yes, Amex can confirm the 120k points has been applied but NOT the 120 Qantas status points

        • I wouldn't worry, it's probably something that Qantas has to implement. The offer is very clear and you'll receive your status credits. Keep a screenshot of the offer for your records.

      • wrong post, please delete

  • How long after you spend the 4.5K do you get the Qantas points?

    • In practice, as soon as you meet the min spend, the points are transferred to your QFF account in the next regular monthly points transfer from Amex. The T&Cs do state, however, that it may take up to 10 weeks.

  • My partner would like to apply for this. She is starting her first job in Oz. She has no credit history.
Is the job offer letter enough, in lieu of pay slips ?

    • i doubt it

    • Hi, apologies but we don't know how Amex would treat an application like that.

      • Thanks. I guess she can apply and see

I got an email this morning requesting some additional info about income:

To verify your income, please upload ONE of the below:

A recent payslip that shows your last 3 months' worth of income
Most recent Notice of Assessment from the Australian Tax Office (please blank out your Tax File Number)
Contract of employment (if employed for less than 90 days)
A letter from your Registered Accountant on a Company Letterhead (if self-employed)
Latest superannuation statement confirming your closing balance (if retired)

  • Has anyone actually contacted Amex to confirm whether they will receive the 120 status credit? I think you will be surprised with what you'll hear.

    • Pleasantly?

      • No it was not pleasant at all

    • It should be Qantas that provides the Status Credits. If you have any issues, simply show them the offer, or get in touch with us and we'll take care of it via our contacts.

  • Can the lounge pass be used when tickets are booked for non-quantas flights?

  • Are there limitations on the travel credit like their crappy points system? I have 150k in Qantas points and can never book a flight with them unless I book 1 year in advance. I would like to get up to 250k so I can get a round the world ticket at some point though…

  • Hi, just wondering if anyone knows the minimal income required for this card? Thank you!

    • Says 65k on the bottom of the page under Eligibility.

  • I can't even begin to express how horrendous the customer service for AMEX is. Called up to enquire about my application and the representative kept repeating on the phone "its incomplete", "you've submitted an incomplete application". I asked them how it was possible, as I answered all questions and it was successfully submitted, and whether I could somehow 'complete' my application over the phone/online. The representative, said it was not possible. What a joke!

I think there might be an issue with their online form submission. I encountered the same problem when I applied for the premium card with the 75k points last week before this offer came out. Guy on the phone said I hadn't filled out the employment section and they couldn't start the credit check process, even though I definitely had (aren't those sections also unskippable?). But he also said it wasn't a big deal and to just reapply again and it should overwrite the other incomplete application, which worked out for me since I simply signed up for this offer instead.
The only thing I'm miffed about is why Amex (or ANZ a while back) don't bother to email or call you when there's an issue with your application and expect you to contact them instead after waiting a week or two.
Edit: Also it does seem like a huge hassle that they couldn't simply complete the missing details over the phone instead of reapplying? And I probably got hit with an unnecessary extra credit check with the original application.

      • Exactly!
This is so helpful! I will wait a bit to see if I receive a call/email - then might consider reapplying. Really appreciate your response :)

        • I think you might be better off calling again and getting confirmation from another rep that they're not processing your original application and then after that's cancelled simply reapply again. You might never hear from them otherwise, but this offer doesn't end for another month so plenty of time left if you did want to wait.

  • would the selection of a low credit limit have a negative effect on an application e.g. 5k?

    • We don't know the answer to that, apologies.

    • Nope. 100% of my cards are/have always been the minimum possible credit limit.

  • Can you get this card in a business name/account

    • You can't get it in a business name. Even Amex's cards for SMEs need to be in an individual's name.
You are allowed to use this card for business purposes if you wish.

      • Its just that the individual income is not over 65000 but the business income is!

        • In that case you probably won't be successful.

  • Applied and approved, pretty smooth and quick

Last time I applied for an Amex card, I was rejected! lol. I've just got a new job with higher pay though

  • Does council rates counter for the $4500 I order to receive the 120k Qantas points?

    • Hi, yes government spend counts.

  • Just got fully approved immediately upon application, no payslips required. Was very quick & easy! $100k+ income and strong history, with one other card at the moment. Have had this and the Explorer preciously, a few years back.

  • A family member who just started a job a month ago fresh out of uni, what's her chance of getting approved with such short employment history? Obviously meets the minimum annual income requirement.

In addition, she's been Amex Plat Charge supplementary card holder for close to 3 years, suppose she still would be entitled for the 120K bonus points?

    • Hi, we really don't know how Amex would look at her application, but it's safe to assume they'd look at a number of criteria.
As for being a supplementary cardholder - yes, she would be eligible for this bonus offer.

      • My bad, missed the "However, you are eligible if you’re an additional Card Member on someone else’s account."

  • The $4,500 spend within the first 3 months to qualify for the Qantas points, is from the card approval or card activated? thanks

    • Hi, it's from card approval.

  • Is the $450 annual fee considered as an expense under the $4500 spend within the 3 months to qualify for the Qantas points?
    Thank you

    • No

  • So if you buy Coles and Bunnings gift cards, those purchases are fine?

    • Yes they are.

  • Being frustrated after receiving the card.

Rejected at a clinic and Costco. “Unknown card error”.
Learned the hard way that they don’t accept Amex. Their explanation “Amex charges atrocious amounts from merchants as fees “.

Any recommendations where I can meet the 4500 spent requirement?

    • +1

Hi, there's a discussion upthread where people shared some tips.

  • I remember when I had this card 2 years ago Amex literally dispensed the bonus points into your qantas account only a few days after your hit the minimum spend and cleared pending, ie no slow waiting until the 1st or 2nd or even 3rd statements like the other banks do. Is that still the case or are they the same as the other cards now?

    • Amex transfers points to your Qantas account monthly. In practice, as soon as you meet the min spend, the bonus points go into your QFF account in the next regular monthly transfer.

      • Thanks, so you're saying they dispense the points on a set monthly date regardless of when you join or statement periods? I just remember being amazed at how fast they were with the transfer consider how slow and dragged out it usually is haha.

        • Anecdotally, we've heard the set date does vary based on your statement period, but we don't know the specifics.

  • If I were to get an additional card holder, does the spend on my card plus the additional card holder count towards the minimum spend limit for the bonus points?

    • Hi, yes it does.

  • How is the travel credit sent to us? Do we receive the bonus points and status credit at the end of the 3months or just after we've reached the minimum spend of $4500? thanks

    • +1

The travel credit is available online at Amex Travel - you simply log in, find the flight(s) you want to book, and then click a button to take $450 off the price. The bonus points typically land in your QFF account in the next regular monthly transfer from Amex after you meet the minimum spend. We don't know how long the Status Credits will take (the T&Cs state up to 12 weeks after meeting the minimum spend).

  • Can my partner use the lounge passes, travel credit or QFF points if i apply and approved?

Is there a way to transfer the lounge passes od QFF points to them? It looks as though the 450 travel credit can be used by any person as long as i book.

    • Yes that's correct, you can transfer the Qantas lounge passes and points to your partner's Qantas Frequent Flyer account. The $450 travel credit must be redeemed by you (because you have to log into your Amex account) but the booking can be in any person's name.

  • Just seen this offer. Is this still on (expires 17/05/2021 23:59H) or over (expired 17/05/2021 00:00H)

    • +1

It's still on (ends 11.59pm tonight).
