Wow i was actually about to order one from amazon for $5+

    • It'd be cheaper even at your local kitchenware shop.

Yep two miles per hour worth of sugar for my cake recipe

      • +6

Sugar is measured in yards per second you (profanity) idiot

      What's an ounce lol

    • -1

How's this American? not even close, these are Aussie metric spoons.

      • +3

        He’s referring to the 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 measurements.
Metric would instead have the measurements in ml.

        • +1

Which, by the way, are helpful if you are trying to nail an American recipe.

          • +2

@tik tok: It is not as american cups are smaller than australian.

        • The do have markings in ml as far as I remember and it's not hard to memorise that to convert from cups to ml you need multiply cup size to 250.

        • A metric cup is 250mL.

A non-Metric cup is almost 240mL (US), 240mL (US) and almost 290mL (Imperial). I've also seen 230mL floated.

These are metric. There are mL markings on the handles along with cup sizes.

        Aussie, maybe. Metric, no.

        • +4

It is metric as they're sized relative to 250ml cup as opposite to 236.588 ml US cup size.

American teaspoon is smaller than ours. They get 5 teaspoons to a tablespoon we get 4.

      • +1

        Consumerist society needs more scoops

      • +2

American tablespoon is smaller (15mL) than ours (20mL) - I didn't know about the teaspoon being smaller, though.

  • Think I'll pick this up. Measuring with drinking glasses was getting old :P

    • I don't think these cure poor eyesight.

  • +4

And it has the correct Australian tablespoon size! (20ml), many on sale here seem to have the UK size (15ml)

    • I've got a 30ml "tablespoon" in my drawer too. Very confusing.

Not at all negging this, as it is a good deal. But I went through multiple sets of plastic measuring cups as they broke, crack and snapped. Finally i bought myself some proper, stainless-steel cups and couldn't be happier. Consider whether the actual deal in the long-run is a product that you don't have to replace.

Id be looking at the operator if you're actually managing to break a measuring cup

    • +3

I have been using these ones at home for a while and am yet to have any breakages.

  • cant find anyone with stock in melbournes east online - is it in store clearance only ? anyone confirm a sighting ?

  • +2

    No stock anywhere

  • Thanks OP bought one today just 30 mins ago

Woolworths Kilkenny 5009 had like another 4 or 5 i think

Found out that 1 quart is pretty much 1lt (1/4 gallon). Now I can finally sleep peacefully.

    • and a pint is 600mm I believe

      • The British Imperial pint is 568.261 ml (20 fluid ounces), while the US Customary pint is 473.176 ml (16 fl oz).

        • Americans always have to be different! i'm surprised the don't have 13" in a foot! lol

The funny thing is, they sell a lot of their soft drinks in litre (or 2) bottles, yet cans are still in fluid ounces

  • There were a few here still in stock, just at $1 instead.

  • Just went to woolworths qv in Melbourne they have quite a few left. Blue or black available

  • Marked as normal price ($2) but scanned as 50c at my local. Guess that’s why there were still heaps left, as people didn’t notice them without the yellow clearance tag.
