    Great device but I have 2 gripes.

    Copy speed is disappointing, it really doesn't take advantage of the 1Gbe connection as the cpu is quite slow. Copy speeds (over network) max at around 16MB/s and USB is slightly faster.

    Netflix is NOT possible unless you buy a North American version. The chip does not have the correct DRM. There are services like Quickster (iirc) available.

    All in all, great media center and would recommend if you didnt need to copy +20GB at a time, or need netflix.

      Hi Totalfrenzy - quick question. I have netflix and use a us VPN… are you saying that the US version of the WD hub has an inbuilt VPN client so that you don't need to use your computer to stream it? cheers

      • I wouldn't know. I'm guessing you'd have to route it through a PC. I was just a bit disappointing to find that my Aus version doesn't work with Netflix :(

        • Netflix only available in US and UK, so if you not using VPN service (vpn strong, unblockus) you won't be able to watch it. Nothing to do with the hardware (chip).

          @cuek

          Are you saying you have a WD Live Hub, bought in Australia (Sigma 8655 Chipset), that is capable of using netflix (Through a VPN)?

          If so, please tell me how to do it.

          The North American chipset is the Sigma 8654 which contains the necessary DRM for netflix.

    Supposely this also has Cinavia protection as well like ps3

    • That and the fact that it can't be wdlxtv'ed make me steer well clear. One of the older ones has been my seedbox for the better part of a year now.

  • just checked a min ago on the HT site.. has the price gone back up to $331?

  • These things are cabbage
