Over 14 Business Days and Still Didn't Receive The Infringement Notice for The Possible Red Light or Speeding Offense

On the 2 April I posted (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/614809) about possible offense(s) that I committed where I believe I ran a left arrow red light and/or may be was speeding a bit as the Fixed Speed Camera flashed.

Today's it's been over 16 business days (24 days in total) and I didn't yet receive the infringement notice. Just wanted to understand how long should it take to receive the notice? I read it usually arrives in 14 days (not business days), did anyone experience delays like this?

The reason I am asking is I am moving out and not sure what should I do. Although I asked my real estate agent to keep me posted. But she said that's not guaranteed as it depends on the next tenants and if they throw it out or never inform then she can't help.

What are anyone's experience in such a situation?

        I like that, but if they eventually found you, I guess my chances are even thinner as I am moving inter-suburbs!!

        You’ll have to update your car rego details if you move so they will track it that way. If you don’t update your details they can hit you with an additional fine.

        You don't get out of a fine by not receiving the letter. It's your responsibility to keep your address up to date etc. You'll just get slogged with late fees and reminder notices.

    You should forward your mail through AusPost regardless.

    Usually when move you get your Mail forwarded by Australia Post to your new address.

      I am in VIC, is there any such app for VIC? And also how about the timeline? It's been over 16 business days.

        In my experience it takes longer than a month to issue a red light camera fine. From what I've read there's no set time, it depends on their workload.

        No such app in Victoria to my knowledge, but you should be changing your address with VicRoads. A long time ago I did that they mailed out a special sticker with my new address to put on the back of my licence.

        Also, if you are enrolled to vote you should update your address with the Australian Electoral Commission.

    I got bad news for you… I got an infringement (a few years ago) in early April. Finally received the infringement letter in the mail at the end of September… Had written it off as a warning, and BAM! Please pay by this date…

      Was the infringement about a red light or speeding? I am not sure they delay it that much for red light or speeding offenses. Well they shouldn't that's what I think.

    Call 1300 728 977 to check your demerit points through VicRoads automated service. If you're points haven't changed then there's no fine issued.

      i think the demerit points only counted once the fine is paid. at least this what in NSW.

        How long does it take for demerit points to show on my record?
        In the case of a penalty notice, Roads and Maritime will be advised of the offence and add the demerit points after you pay the fine to Revenue NSW, or if payment is not made, when the final date for payment is reached.

        Same applies for Vic. Either when you pay the fine or when the due date for payment passes.

    Stop stressing about it. They'll find you, don't worry about that - SPER are pretty good at it. Why don't you just cop it on the chin and accept you made a mistake. Chances are you'll be fine - if you do receive a fine, pay it, recognize your mistake and move on with life. Agonizing about it is getting you nowhere.

    Such melodrama for such a tiny thing. If this is the biggest worry you have you should count yourself very lucky.

    Not sure if you've done this, but if you login to your Vicroads account it has all infringements that are listed on your license… In my experience though given the timeframe it's looking good!

    If it's gonna find its way to you, it will. Not much you can do about it now. You should setup mail forwarding anyway as people have already commented.

    Get a mail redirection via Aus Post. Not difficult or costly.

    If you register with VicRoads online you can change address and check infringements. No $20 appointment fee and you can do it while you’re driving through your next red light. Also not all flashes and photos mean an infringement will be registered. Maybe you were lucky. I bet your driving has improved since then though? Maybe work on the paranoia too or have a talk with your mum about how she screwed with your guilt mechanism bringing you up 😜

    Get your rego address and licence address change, by that way you will be protected if they have send notice to your old address.

    Shame it didn't happen in Italy, that's a whole world of fun. I read that you first receive a notice that you're getting a fine. Then they send you the fine and it's all in italian. But as they're part of the EU you have the right to request they send you the infringement in your native language. But you do this on the last day possible 90 days later. If they then don't get you the fine issued in your native language within 180 days then the fine is unenforceable. The italians… Gotta love em.

    Be careful
    If it goes unpaid it goes over to the sheriff, they have the power to clamp your car

    A relative had a business and the fine went unpaid, fast forward a few years and the sheriff knocked on the door asking why it wasn’t paid, turns out there was an error and somehow kept getting send to an old business address.
