Hi Ozbargainers,

With India struggling to keep folks healthy and at work the generic medicine market in Australia is already starting to suffer from panic buying by larger pharmacies and buying groups. I'm trying to secure orders for the next 3-6 months and finding many lines (especially generics) suffering from long or indeterminable ETA's

Not sure why, but it seems to be the larger 70/100 tab packet sizes which are harder to stock.

Anyway as we're struggling with many lines, several reps are taking pity on us and offering us amazing deals on what they do have in stock so I thought I'd grab a few cartons of Cetirizine when offered at an ALL TIME LOW WHOLESALE PRICE for an Ozbargain deal this weekend.

Last weeks deal on the Lorazol (Claratyne Generic) was only up for an hour or so before it was buried in other deals, it sold pretty poorly (despite me thinking it was actually a pretty awesome deal) and has left me with a hundred or so boxes left - so here is the link for anyone who missed out.

Thanks.. Thoughts and prayers to Indian people for getting this through hard time.

  • already bought a lot of faxofenadine from the last deal with koochie koo pharmacy but have not received it yet.

  • Thank you. Bought some antihistamine loratadine from last deal and its saving me from misery.

  • Thanks OP - alway great prices delivered.

Any hayfever experts - including the OP - got an opinion on effectiveness of Telfast vs Claratyne vs Zyrtec?

    • +4

I am not an expert but coming from a family of pollen sufferers, we have found that effectiveness varies on an individual basis. My parents find Telfast works the best, Zyrtec for my brother, Claratyne for me. It may be worth trying all of them just to see what works best for you.

      • Thanks for the info.

That was my first thought, but website doesn't allow multiple codes on a single shipment. Have just rolled the dice and gone with LORAZOL (Generic Claratyne). I think I've still got plenty FEXOFENADINE HYDROCHLORIDE (Generic Telfast) from my last order, so might try some comparisons on speed and effectiveness. Would be interesting to know the numbers on which proves best for the majority. Cheers.

As a lifelong hayfever sufferer, personally find Zyrtec the best of those 3 and I believe its also the newest.

Used to take Telfast but it eventually became less effective for me, and claratyne can make you drowsy.

    • what these guys said 100%, codral day night original is the only thing that works for me but you have to show your ID. Everything else I can take a whole packet and no change

  • Cheers OP, ordered some for my dog.

    • +1

They take payment in dog now?

    • How do you get your dog to eat it?

      • Great difficulty! Tabs are usually small so I just try and hide it in a snack. If I hide it in its bowl of food it somehow finds it and leaves it!

    Perfect for sleep.

    Exp date of Cetirizine ?

    • Hi - sorry exp of the 30 tab pack - 10/23

  • +3

Any idea when you might have more generic Nexium in stock?

    • +1

Hi - I have another brand due to land this week - pls pm and I'll let you know what I can do when it arrives.

  • whats the expiry date for cetrizine?

    • OP mentioned in one of the other comments that the expiry of the 30 tab pack is 10/23. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks OP. Just bought a best value bulk pack. I assumed that express delivery is still included as per the deal you linked. But even with the code 'BONUS', I had to choose regular post to show free shipping. Can you please confirm how my order will be delivered?

    • +2

      Howdy -
"PLEASE SELECT FREE SHIPPING AT CHECKOUT THIS FAMILY PACK WILL DISPATCH VIA EXPRESS SATCHEL POST"

  • OP whats the difference between Zyrtec, Claratyne, and Telfast?

    • +8

umm ok. (don't tell the guys over at J&J that the generic "zryatec" also includes 10mg Cetirizine Hydrochloride)

    • That's not very true. The one that are different will be prescription only and so your doctor say you can't choose generics.

Generic brands are going to be cheaper though because once the patent for the branded one expires, other companies can just copy it. Heck, some companies even make generics which are identical as the branded ones because they are the same company exploiting this kind of belief.

      • +1

The active ingredients are always the same. Sometimes the other stuff is different, but the actual effect of the medicine should be the same, prescription or not.

Otherwise they wouldn't be called generics, they would just be different medicines.

Can your partner supply the OzBargain community with $2.50 large packs?

  • Thanks OP, item arrived today. Very happy with service.

    • I was too slow and missed out.

When you can, it will be good to get your thoughts on the effectiveness when compared to the branded product. I have been blowing my nose and rubbing my eyes like crazy today.

Just need to wait for the OP to replicate the offer………

  • Sorry they are for my dog so can't help you, but my partner is a nurse and all they use is generic brands, and they are the same thing, so they should work fine.
