Before you start thinking you can outsmart others to make a profit:

Superannuation managers use computers. They are also smart enough to recommend you spread investments broadly (but, your choice). That'll do me.

I tend to use ETF or indexed trackers because they use computers and don't charge stupid fees and spread your investments broadly (but, your choice). That'll do me.

      • Since I don't understand ETF vs ITF, it is probable wiser to stick with Superannuation. I can sleep that way without wondering whether I should be shifting investment funds about. An issue I do have is withdrawing. You have to apply on paper so you might decide to remove some cash while the market is good. One week later when the form is finally processed, stock brokers are jumping out of windows and the superannuation fund says "tough luck, we told you the value goes up & down".

  • What would be the best subjective sources of information for someone wanting to dive in stock investing in Australia? Eg book, podcast, course,…

Losing your own bloody cash should give you the best subjective lesson =)))

Lots of good material out there. Comsec and nab both have great basic educational material, investopedia is great too especially for higher level concepts, and ato has great information on tax treatment of shares which is quite important.

Tldr though - despite the huge industry around it, active investing is time consuming, mostly witchcraft, and evidence shows it's probably no better than passive investing. Buy shares in an eft (eg one of the Vanguard ones), which has the advantage of diversifying things and minimising risk. Don't mess with it other than to keep throwing money into it when you can. Profit.

        • I am not the one begging here for a free eBook, you are.

          cant be chooser

          ^ can't

How hard is it to use proper punctuation? I won't even get started with the number of grammatical errors above.
Perhaps you need to beg for a free book on mastering grammar and punctuation first.

          • @DoctorCalculon: doctor doctor lol :D :D :D

  • Thanks OP
