~100 dollars for the peace of mind you can throw it back at JB HiFi should there be a problem… maybe worth it for this.

    • You can get 17% off JBHIFI gift cards at the moment. That brings $999 to $830!

      • Where can you get 17% off?

        • +1

Coles is giving 1,000 points for TEEN gift card. Buy $30 TEEN => you get $5 bucks back. That's 17% off.

          • @Xantar: Cheers!

@ven041: Note that limit 5 cards per flybuy accounts, so $150 per account. You figure out the rest, ozbro :)

          • @Xantar: Imagine the look on the cashier's face when you show up 33 gift cards and still $9 short.

            • +2

@send2riven: You can actually combine all the TEEN cards into high value JB Gift Card online… I just did. I actually combine 50 :D

Totally 3x$500 JB HiFi gift cards. Got like $255 discount. Not bad ;)

              • @Xantar: May I ask where you purchase them from? Just in store I presume? Couldn't find anywhere that says 1,000 flybuys points

                • @nelzzy: Just at your local Coles. The bonus ends today, so it is pretty late now. Just wait until next bonus :)

Unless it's the snapdragon model avoid the s20 series, the battery life is insanely bad.

    • +2

Agreed! Mine's been sent off 3 times because it only gets 3 hours screen time a day before dying. Also gets very hot and drops 10% in a minute :(

      • +1

Mine isnt as bad but i agree that the battery life is bad!

I came from P20 Pro which has smaller battery and it used to last longer even at after 2 years compared to the S20+ after just a few months…

        • My Asus 3 year old phone still out lasts my s20 so I sent it off 3 times.
They still say there's no issue but the was the whole reason I took the phone in, my Asus battery life only lasts 1 day instead of the 2 days it used to, but the new Samsung with a bigger battery lasts much less than my old phone :(

The camera is fine though, nothing special but fine.

Will try get my money back out swap to s20 5g. They didn't even test out outside an air-conditioned lab or use mobile data.
          It gets so hot

      • Not to mention the washed-out camera system on this phone. Hard to believe how bad and overexposed the camera was.
I don't believe this YouTube videos anymore. At least for Samsung because they use different materials for different regions.

        • Overexposed? Generally the complaint is that colours are way too saturated with Samsung phones. I totally agree with that.

          • @Techie4066: I've seen several S20+ phones and each took different kind of photos. One was great and the other not so. Mine was like a mid range. It was terrible from all aspects compared to my pixel with nonsense settings off and clean lenses.
            This needs some serious investigation.
I knew about the differences between Exynos and SD since a few years ago because I had both, thanks to Kogan.
Exynos used to be faster and more efficient than Snapdragon but always behind in image processing.
I think there is definitely something wrong with their supply chain or quality control. As I see more and more of same models but different in quality.

            • @Mi2: Maybe the superior camera you tested was a US model with a Snapdragon processor. The S20 FE 5G I owned had good camera processing although things were way oversaturated, no matter what settings were changed. I'm aware of the lawsuit regarding the glass shattering. And after using an S10e, I would never consider purchasing an Exynos powered phone, the battery life and heat is seriously bad.

The same varying camera experience applies to the Pixel 5 rear camera and the 4a selfie camera, due to quality control variances/issues. The Pixel 5 I've used has a kind of lens defect which makes the colours and details not as good as they should be, this seems to be common with early batches. Pixel 4a owners have complained about the selfie camera not focusing as well as their friend's 4a.

              • @Techie4066: True I've heard and seen that problem on pixel 5 as well. That's why I didn't consider it. I've been truly happy with pixel 1,2,3 cameras and didn't want to ruin it with P5.
S20 FE is far more consistent with their camera quality than the rest of S20 lineup.
At least photos doesn't look washed out and blurry. But yeah, they need to fix the colours.

                • @Mi2: I've used the Pixel 3 as well, it went back to Google for speakerphone/microphone malfunctioning and calls dropping out. Pixel 3 etc have had defects with the camera and other things like microphones. They never get it totally right, as the P5 camera is a letdown compared to P3 (it's reversed the progress made). It's like they used a completely different brand of camera glass and camera sensor, such a shame as it doesn't feel like a flagship.

  • Kogan ‘return policy’ is horrible. Only if you’re sure with the item that you wanna buy from Kogan, then it’s much much better buying at JBHIFI.
