Can't find it on Officeworks online

    • Thanks for adding that

    • nvm - I thought you meant that they had them for sale at officeworks too so we could price match.
Guess it's straight to WoW tomorrow :] Thx OP

Here is a link to the binding combs at OW - they come in many sizes depending on the number of pages you want to bind - http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Office-Supplie…

Here is the link to the Aldi ones too - http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_20573.htm

  • What's the max number of pages you can bind? with the combs

    • According to the side of the box the maximum is 180 sheets on an 18mm comb - might be optimistic but no way of knowing for now - probably depends on the paper thickness too

      • The website says this though:

        •Punching capacity: 8 sheets 80g paper
        •Binding Capacity: maximum 150 sheets 18mm

  • Just wondering, what store did you purchase at and what is stock level like?

There's quite a bit of stock at all Brisbane stores. Always a safe bet to phone ahead though. 13 28 38 will get you in contact with your closest store.

Delivery to Sydney ($16 or $11.30) costs more than the machine :-(

    • First, I hoped for free shipping, then, when I saw it was going to cost me something, in true OzBargainer fashion, I checked around for a WoW store nearby. Albury, Canberra and Coffs. I don't think this deal is happening for us.

EDIT: But still, good buy for everyone who can get to a WoW store.

  • I bought it last week with the $10 postage (cheaper option) and it arrived less than 24 hours later (Thu 2pm to Fri 11am). Fastest I've ever had anything delivered. I think $20 delivered for it is pretty good - I'd been looking around and most other ones are $40-60 and the difference in quality isn't that great (between the sub-$100 ones). Pretty reasonable quality (although I'm surprised it was $70) - I'm only pushing it to 3 sheets of paper at the moment (it had a problem with 8) and have yet to work out how to get the combs to stay open enough without stretching (as the opener seems to have two 'settings' - one a bit too close and one that stretches the rings).

A great price for a home binding machine.

  • "Binding Capacity: maximum 150 sheets 18mm"

Is this the capacity of the binding machine?
    Or limited by …?

    • That is the maximum size of the binding comb (spine) that you can use with it. So, it means that the thing can only open a 18mm diameter comb, which is still pretty hefty.

But the main thing is the 8 sheet punching capacity. In reality that means it will probably only punch 6 sheets of real paper, and even less of the plastic or cardboard covers. So, to do a 20 page + covers, you would probably punch the pages in 4 lots…. then bind all of them in the second step.

I just bought one about 5 minutes ago in store. There were at least 12 sitting in the Annerley store
right at the entrance. I'd recommend going in store rather than buying online, you're wasting $10 on shipping.
Here's some photos of the device:

It's not too bad, definitely worth the $10, but $70 is total bs. I'd say WOW buys them for $5-8
    No problems punching 8 sheets+

  • Where do you purchase the combs or binding plastic part from? Are they cheap?

    • I buy mine from the newsagent (Nextra) - Rexel pack of 25 x 6mm - sticker on box says $3.75. I also have a box of Rexel 25 x 9.5mm which were $4.95. I also bought the plastic covers from same place - pack of 50 for $10.95. I also just buy regular packets of A4 cardboard (white or colour) for backing. You can get the fancy leather-grain card but it's dearer.

    • Aldi, $10 for the covers, backing boards and combs
