500

very nice looking Pulsar Quartz Chronograph with a clean vintage look for a measly $49 + $9.95 delivery

was $149 yesterday and now an all time low price according to fashionlane. the nearest competitor's price i could find was $149 …as it seems to be a 2017 model not much info around, unfortunately.

i like the cream colour dial and clean design & layout just not sure about case sizing…as its a bit on the larger side (44-46mm depending on source) i didnt bite but some of you guys might be interested

Wow that could be the cheapest 100m chrono ever posted on Ozbargain

    • +3

cool! thats great coming from you watchnerd ;)
i just bought it after i posted..couldnt help myself as it actually looks really nice and not overly large
keen to try it with a different leather strap (non textured)…maybe even a dark/mid brown would work nicely

  • +2

Thats looks a decent good watch.Would be a nice gift.

    • pulsar (i believe) use seiko movements? never owned one before or a chrono so im keen to try something new

      • +1

Yup, they’re actually a subsidiary of Seiko, so they use the same movements as Seiko and Lorus.

        • cool…that confirms what i learned in this youtube vid

  • The days of watch battery swapping are over. Solar1st preference, auto distant second, daylight third (yes, I do like the geegees!!) .. :-) .. !!

    • +2

i have a citizen automatic and an eco-drive… enjoy them both although the automatic requires wearing every day or two to keep it charged i find…
i can use this pulsar as an everyday wearer that i wont care if i scratch inadvertently, a battery costs $3 and i can do the change myself, so for a cheap chrono why not? :)

      • +1

Great find OP, well done. Where do you buy batteries for $3 pls? And where do you buy the tool & what does it cost?

        • +1

i just buy maxwell brand button cell batteries from my local $2 shop…have served me well so far. tools can be found cheaply on ebay but i cant really recommend anything as im also after recommendations! :D

maybe watchnerd may have some recs on batteries and tools?

    • +1

I agree. I hate changing the battery. Most of my watches have to go overseas. Rubbish process!!!

  • +1

Sorry for my ignorance, why would someone take a swim with a leather watch on, even though it's water resistant at 100 metres.

    • you wouldnt :D

      • +1

Any lame person wouldn't do this practically. I don't get it as to why do watchmakers make this as a selling point when they clearly know this.

        • yeah…i guess its useful if youre thinking of changing over to a diving style strap or band?
but yes…water (esp salt water) and leather dont go well together :)

        • +1

Because it's also an indicator of build quality.

          • @WatchNerd: cheers watchnerd… we learned something ;)
Q: so what movement would be inside this watch? new to the brand and ive heard pulsar utilise the same movements as seiko watches as pulsar is owned by seiko? is that correct?

    • +1

Very good point. I like this watch - but I want to swim with it.

Anyone know anything about replacement strap sizing? ;)

      • The second two state:

Compatible with any traditional or smart watch with standard lug end such as Fossil, Seiko,DAVOSA,Hamilton,Luminox,Casio,Citizen,Skagen,G Shock,Movado,Wenger, Victorinox, Armitron, Sekonda,Oris, Longines,IWC,Aviator,Orient,Rolex,Stuhrling,Breitling,Jaeger,Chopard,Diesel,Grand prix,Ernest Borel,Catier,Omega,Mido,Rado,TAG Heuer,T.F.Bucherer,Titoni,Timex, Invicta,Bulova,TW,Rotary,Kreisler,Pulsar,Relic,Esq,Huawei, sport watches, smart watches, etc.

I'm eyeing off the quick release clasp version

      • pretty sure its a 22mm strap/band measurement so a lot of options…just find something you like that suits?
having recently used quick release spring bars i like them…makes band swap overs so easy so i think youre on the right track

  • +2

I am buying a shitload of watches cos of Ozbargain, over the last two weeks or so I have an Invicta, a Timex and now this haha

    • +2

i posted this for you guys then ended up buying one before it got ozbargained…
      i ozbargained myself :(

but im with you….3rd watch in 6 months. what? :P

      • +1

It makes no sense. I'm not even fashionable. I have no clothes to pair these different coloured watches with

      • +1

        3rd watch in 6 months. what? :P

3rd watch in 2 months for me. this is worse than the eneloop and microsd addiction phase i went through lol

Great find. I just made a purchase just to wear as an everyday watch in the office

  • +1

    Free delivery with orders over $69 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    • oh, good spot. should have realised this morning…doh!
      edit: thanks…updated the deal

  • Bought one, thanks OP.
Is it odd that there is almost no info and no reviews on this watch any where?
Couldn't even find it on the Pulsar website.

    • +1

2017 model …im guessing thats why
if you google the full model number 'PT3665X1' you get more info / sites where it is still sold

  • +1

What do you need to replace the battery in these?

    • the case back looks to be a screw down …so im thinking an adjustable watch case wrench? …anyone care to elaborate?

    • +2

Just a regular watch back opener/remover like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/324307229733 (I just found this randomly, it could be cheaper elsewhere)

      • +1

        Cool, thanks!

  • +1

Holy hell it was difficult to place my order - the shopping cart is garbage. Entered details 5+ times. Wouldn't work on Firefox, had to use Chrome and wouldn't accept a custom address.

  • +2

    Page not found. :(

  • +2

looks like the party is over …ozbargained. well done everyone!
looking forward to this arriving…hope everyone enjoys their purchase!

  • +2

Here's a different model, more expensive, but with free shipping. If anyone is interested-

    • +2

…good find. did you buy it?

…also of interest if anyone wanted a cheap chrono is the silver dial variant of this deal's PT3665X1 Cream Dial Chrono
      Pulsar PT3749X Mens Watch - $69
seems to be a very similar chrono watch to this one but with aesthetic differences in layout and colour of the dial, small detail change to the case and stitching on the strap

      • I grabbed that one [Pulsar PT3749X]12 days ago when it was still $79. In 10 days wearing out it has lost/gained 0 seconds. The leather strap was the worst I have ever come across, at first being thick, unwieldy, and offering either one hole that allows it to rotate fairly freely about my wrist, or one where I am just about popping the pins to get a fit that only flops around slightly however it is wearing in. I can wear it in a bit further or drop a 22mm Nato band on it.

Even with the band being a bit placky and stiff I'm well satisfied with it, though being a quartz, I was suprised how much lighter [69 gm with strap] it was than my automatic/manual wind/eco-drive units.

  • +1

Will go to store today to try it, have large wrists so needs to fit.

Can't see strap size listed online

Bought a Fossil once and had to order and pay for the extra links after I got it, was a pain.

    • +1

i'll probably end up changing out the strap on this one for something more casual to dress the watch down
think im going to try a few straps from https://www.cheapestnatostraps.com/
could be an option for you if the strap is too short? they seem to sell sized straps amongst their range

    • It it's any help, the PT3749K model will just pop around a 64 mm diameter cylinder [Camera lens] on the last hole and is 225 ml from that hole to the buckle pin when opened out.

  • +1

mine just arrived….very pleased with everything apart from the strap which i knew id want to change anyway.

i think the strap lets the watch down a little actually: the leather is stiff a little plasticy and the clasp is absolutely terrible & feels flimsy. in comparison to the rest of the watch which is refined & finished it feels off….i think i'll get something like this for it and it will only make the watch better…

very quick delivery and well packaged. definitely happy with shiels too

  • +1

You can work the strap a bit to soften it up, particularly near the lugs where it wants to plank. Did you get a nice little bow on the box as provided in the shop? 😁

    • no bow…bit disappointed now :P

thanks for tip re: softening the leather. i guess im comparing the pulsar strap to my citizen leather ones that have a much nice feel & finish to them…to be fair though they were both more expensive than this one. also not a fan of the crocodile texture on the strap at all. im trying to find something with an aged vintage look to it and want to go a mid/dark brown, also the pulsar strap is quite long i find…good for those with large wrists i guess?

speaking of straps anyone know where i can find something like this not from cheapestnatostraps?:
