Subway - Poor Food Handling Practice

A sales person took a footlong bread from the bread cabinet and a 6 inch piece dropped on the floor. They picked it up and left on the serving counter. Maybe they were waiting for me to go but after about 3 mins, another sales person put it back in the cabinet.

Ridiculous!!!

    ermmmm 3 second rule?

Can you describe the 6 inch in more detail so we can all avoid it? MS Paint drawing will suffice.

Maybe model it up in Sketchup so we can understand it in 3D!

The stuff on the bread isn't herbs, it's grit from the floor.

    • Becomes the daily special with added flavors!

It isn't every Subway; it is one store only (that has been observed).

  • May be they were waiting for me to go

    I suspect not?

  • +3

did he see it fall? This is the point you tell them it fell as someone else has to eat it now…

  • +4

Did you say something to the second employee so that they would throw out all the contaminated rolls or were you secretly hoping they would do what they did just so that you could complain on the internet about it?

  • +5

Did you say anything, or came Karening to these forums?

  • +2

Reported to their head office. I could have asked them to do the right thing but it won’t deter them from doing it again.

    • Did you tell the employee that put it back or any of the other staff in that store?

    • Did you prevent any customers from getting that roll?

    • +5

You're making the assumption that the second person did it on purpose, when it's possible that heshe didn't know.

You had the opportunity to help the next the customer, but instead you decided to let it happen?

  • Why is it necessary to state "…a sales female…" and "…the sales guy…"? It doesn't add anything to the story.

    • Ok. Changed it.

      • She picked it up

        still see it.

Actually you should refer to them as sandwich artists not sales persons.

  • +3

Imagine all the things that go on, in all sorts of food outlets regardless of brand name, cost, celebrity chefs, etc., every day.

  • I think OP should name the store; if you are going to defame a brand, you need to be specific.

    • Nah, doesn't anything to the story.

I went to 7/11 and was buying a sandwich, buit noticed one had mold over a quarter of it. I handed it in to the staff member… I came in the next day and it was back on the shelf. I didn't bother pointing it out again, I just don't go there anymore.

  • That's nothing, I once saw a 'sandwhich artist' turn to sneeze away from the salad bar only to score a direct hit on the bread oven which had the door open at the time.

    • It has always been the case throughout history that artists don't make much money, because they are not business-people, they are sandwich artists. To make a living now you kind of have to be both. ( ie. TheOdd1sOut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV542dRK3uk )

This is nothing compared to the stuff you see on kitchen nightmares. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

Totally agree, and it's also why you never ever send back your meal.. you never know what new liquids/fluids it'll come back with… ha ha

  • My 6" I mean footlong sometimes hits the floor.

    • The floor is cold. What happens now?

    That is disgusting.
Have not been to subway in years thank god. Used to love their meatball sub but I’d be too scared to try it these days after speaking to a top gastroenterologist who said never ever eat in fast food restaurants. The staff are not taught proper hygiene and most have no hygiene. Basically you have super high odds of catching food poisoning or stomach parasites.
