    GSync Compatibility is not hardware GSync, it's DisplayPort adaptive sync that's been certified by NVIDIA. So basically, NVIDIA-approved FreeSync.

    No point mentioning 'with GSync' in the title, it's kinda misleading.

        Hardware GSync has variable overdrive as standard which improves motion clarity across the VRR range, and is usually much more dialled in with its response times to deliver the best balance between blur and overshoot for a given panel.

        This more-detailed tuning also tends to come with the best form of backlight strobing possible on said panels, as well.

        It's not worth the premium IMO as you can such around Freesync-related issues in several ways, but it's important to distinguish it. There's also models popping up with their own variable overdrive solutions, too.

    Hdmi 1.2 is pretty old now. The other 199 dollar 144 1080p listed HDMI 2.0.

    Edit, it's HDMI 1.4 and display Port 1.2 (according to this https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/e0581d32)

    Still very old, don't know how much it will matter to most bit when there are HDMI 2.0 moniters in the same price range, it's better to get them.

    Can't wait for 2.1 to be standard so we can get 1440p at 120 on sub 500 monitors with the next gen consoles.

        You can't get 1440p @ 120 on less then HDMI 2.1 on next gen consoles. 1080 @ 120 or 1440 @ 60. (Except for the odd case of some NVIDIA colour thing that somehow allows 4K at 120 on some HDMI 2 ports)

          Odd that I'm doing 1440p (2k) 120hz on my series X with an old HDMI 2.0 cable to an MSI Optix 1440p monitor then….

          I guess your words make my experience incorrect hahaha

          4k 120Hz definitely needs HDMI 2.1

            @Dvbargain: If you read what I said you'd know there is a very specific use case with 4:2:0 Chroma Sub sampling that allows 1440p 120 over HDMI 2 (Even 4k @ 120). Not all monitors have that.

      That has no meaning, the display can only do 1080p 144hz, no reason to have extra bandwidth when it will never use it

        Yeah I know I never said it was needed for this monitor, I just said HDMI 1.2 is really old, it gives you a date of this monitor and that the other one was better with HDMI 2.

        The last part was just me hoping we get HDMI 2.1 monitors in sub 500 soon.

            @ln28909: Yes but it doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the components such as the panel, backlite, io and additional features have to be old. Plenty of people still want a 1080p 144hz monitor with the best features and quality. Looking at those things you can tell where a monitor stands.

                @ln28909: That may be true for many people but there are plenty of benefits for having higher bandwidth ports, different types of HDR, support for more colour profiles, things like G sync and such need higher a bandwidth connection.

                Resolution and frame rate alone do not speak for the entire monitor. Plenty of 1080 144 monitors are of higher quality and have better panels, io ports, better colour coverage than 4K monitors.

                Also my entire point was that for the same price you can get a monitor with HDMI 2. If anything it's future proofing.

                  @Zylam Marex: what that makes absolutely no sense, a monitor will choose the hdmi version that is required for its features, if it doesn't support g sync, it won't use a hdmi version that support g sync.

                  If there is a particular thing you want in a monitor, you pick a monitor with those settings, you don't look at the hdmi version and hope it supports those settings, and monitors are not suppose to be future proofing, you know exactly what it provides, the day you bought it, nothing new is gonna be added

                      @Zylam Marex: no because there are many usage for bandwidth, you could have low refresh hdr using the same hdmi version as high refresh no hdr.

                        @ln28909: Then there is even more reason to look at the port spec, if a monitor is advertised as HDR but only has a old HDMI port, you'll only get a low refresh HDR, whereas if it had a high bandwidth port, you know it can handle high refresh rate too.

                        I don't get what you mean by if it doesn't happy, that's why. Better spec for the same price is better.

                              for example,

                              • HDR is very much gimmick for monitor below 400 nits

                              • not all monitors have equal response time, contrast ratio etc, those difference doesnt necessarily translate to higher bandwidth such that a newer hdmi version is required

                              So no, a monitor with HDMI 2.0 port is not guaranteed to be a better buy than a monitor with HDMI 1.4 port

    Gamma 2
    Color Temp: User
    Red 54, Green 44 Blue 38

    Calibrated using i1DisplayPro (iD3) and DisplayCal; sRGB, 2.2 gamma, D65, 120cd/m2:
    sRGB coverage: 99.59%
    DCI-P3 coverage: 85.49%
    AdobeRGB coverage: 79.60%
    Avg. deltaE: 0.083877
    Max deltaE: 1.529082

    For gaming, I use:

    I paid $320 for mine about 6 months ago.

    I only have incredibly minor dislikes with it (physical buttons are hard to press, texture of the screen looks slightly silky (not to confuse with glossy) instead of full matte) but it's amazing value for $230. Apart from that, amazing monitor!

    Plus, huge bonus points for being incredibly light. The gigabyte equivalent is heavy as which made me uncomfortable putting 2 of them on a dual arm.

    I'd be getting 2 of these.
