Best Thing You Bought from AliExpress

As with all ozbargainers, we are always buying something that we didn't think we need. But sometimes, we buy something where we really appreciate the fact that we have internet shopping rather than relying on the Bunnings down the road or Myer. So just wondering whether there is something that you bought from AliExpress (or some other sketchy merchant online) that you would want to tell the world about?

This little beauty. Super Sturdy and easy to snap phone on and off.

    • +1

I'll add one to my collection. Thanks

    • What sort of weight can it hold? Does its grip on the air vent loosen over time due to pulling the phone of the magnet?

My current gravity clamp holder doesn't fit my heavy Moto g9 plus and thick case, and it's so heavy it pulls the clamp off the air vent, so looking for options.

      • +2

I am using Note 9 with cover (not very thick). 200+ grams i think.

Yes, the grip loosens after 3,4 months and i just open it fully and tighten again. Hardly 1 min job. Grip is indeed very tight.

To avoid clamp being pulled of the vent, don't remove the phone by pulling towards you, Flip it slightly sidewise so it loosens the grip and then pull towards you.

Another one which i bought was with 6 magnets, but that was super super sturdy and forceful, it was very difficult to remove ph from it. You can try that if your ph is really heavy but i like this one due to 4 magnets and the portion which goes on airvent is more easy to adjust/rotate etc.

Baby shoes, the attipas style. Ridiculously overpriced in store and online (where they drop shop exactly the same ones) - $20 to $40 a shoe. Aliexpress for $7. Stupid to drop that kind of money for something they outgrow in months.

A pair of carbon Bicycle Wheels for $500.
Bought them as a joke (increased my insurance premiums in the process) as carbon wheels were generally $2000+ and expected them to self destruct/wear abnormally fast.
7 years and 40,000km's later and they're still dead true and bearings smooth. Outlasted any genuine article that i've ever ridden.

Can you share link and do bicycles have insurance aswell ? 🤔

      great idea, looking up now.

A tip for you, if you haven't got one yet, get a pipecleaner adapter! The fun of cleaning gutters and pipes using one of these!

    • Same here this is first thing I can think of..

I bought 12 of them, quick connects with zero plastic parts. The brass hose connector has a brass barb(which requires a simple ear clamp) instead of those plastic clamps. Everything brass. NEVER deterioate in the sun, only renew o-rings and lube with silicon grease last forever!

Please note, some of these brass connectors sold locally has plastic clamps in them which is not any better than the regular plastic ones.

      • got a link?

Those 13-piece drill bit attachments for cleaning. Keeps my pots and pans clean and I've managed to clean a lot of bits and pieces with a variety of attachments. My cordless drill came from aliexpress too.

Damn.. I see they've added an extension attachment. I've already got the bendy arm.

65mm filter wrench for Toyota’s for something like $2

  • Kerui wifi PTZ cameras. About a quarter the price of the eufy pan and tilt and has a greater tilt range than the Reolink.

I'm curious if the eufy or reolink has better wifi range but for ~$25, the Kerui does the job for me… monitoring the puppy. The only downside is that one needs to factor in the cost of a replacement USB power adapter. The one they bundle is shite and will play up eventually. But you can get a handful of wall adapters for $15 off ebay. Thinking of getting a few more Kerui's.

Might also get some more automatic foam soap dispensers as the ones the wife bought aren't designed for self refill… we've opened up the soap container ourselves but it's starting to crack.

  • Aliexpress is hopeless for disputes raised . Thousand miles behind EBay. I patronised AliExpress for items for small amounts only. There were many times I failed to receive their products. AliExpress took no action to help me for the disputed put up. Once it even confirmed the refund was on its way and asked me to wait for some weeks, that was several months ago but the refund never comes. I gave up buying things through AliExpress having lost my confidence.

    • +6

Just to provide a counterpoint I have placed dozens - maybe hundreds - of orders for items small and large and have had to raise very few disputes, and those I have raised have been resolved. I am careful to avoid stores with poor feedback though, maybe I have been lucky to some extent too.

    • +2

Every seller I dealt with were quick to refund when the package fail to arrive.
I always buy from high followers sellers.

    • +2

I've found dispute handling to be great. There are times that the seller has tried to do something dodgy and in those situations AliExpress have ruled in my favour.
I have very rarely had issues on AliExpress, so my experience is from a free years ago.

  • I'd consider Zapalstyle some other sketchy merchant online, but would never advocate buying a Citizen watch clone.

I've just ordered one on your recommendation, thanks!

      • I wet the chain first. Put the chain in the bottom piece of the cleaner. Put a squirt of dishwashing detergent in. Connect the tip and handle and go. Don't forget to buy some chain lubrication to put on after the chain dries.
