Motorola Razr Noir Black $599 + Shipping / Pickup @ JB Hi-Fi

1170

Don't know much about these phones and have never owned one, but came up as a Google suggestion. I don't think this one has 5G. It's alot cheaper then the $1500 when it came out.

It's strange isn't it? I got served this advertisement as well.

    • +1

The funny thing is I have never searched these phones

      • +16

Google knows abt you better than you :p

        • +2

          I wouldn't be surprised

    • Maybe Moto/JB initiated a SEM campaign to flush these stocks out. At this price, it is simply begging you to buy. LOL…

      • yeah nah, it's all in ya head mate ;)

  • +15

the original razr v3 is still a better buy

    • Yeah, right. One that can never get off its own shadow 15 years down the road.

    • +9

      Hello moto

    • +11

You need to go further back.
      a Motorola StarTac

      • ^^this

      • Razr V3 was much a much nicer designed phone though.

      • Nah the Motorola brick was better.

        And analogue too.

      • +9

I've never seen a joke fly so far above someone's head before now!

        • +5

But maybe they're joking too, did you ever think about that? Oh, but maybe you did. Maybe you're joking as well. It never ends! There's too many layers! I'm not joking, to be clear. I'm genuinely confused.

          • +2

            @gosm: We're in jokeception, fam!!!!

        • -3

          Meaningless hyperbole is not wit.

  • +4

For $100 we would have a deal.

  • +8

I mean, it was $2699 on release… so it is a awesome price, but the tech is a downgrade.

  • This or the z flip?

    • +4

      z flip 3

    • z flip, samsung software experience and hardware are better overall.

    • +4

Definitely the Z Flip. Don't forget this Razr has a known problem where dust, lint and foreign particles getting into the underside of the panel and then causing a budge/dots from inside out. The Z Flip has micro-brushes at the hinge which somewhat address the problem and not entirely.

    • +2

z flip for sure if they ar the same price,
      but z flip cost u around 1k.

      • $700 ebay

        • ya seconds ! whats ur point ?

  • -4

It's nowhere, move on nothing here, maybe @ $99

  • Pixel 3xl or this?

    • +1

      3a xl

  • +6

Geez , haven't these things dropped in price like a stone.

  • +1

    Beam me up Scotty.

  • -3

    This or a literal brick?

    • This if you're building a house.

      • +2

So you can call a contractor?

  • +1

Note that this is the 2019 model with the SD 710.

  • Just bought S21 last week from the deal, still haven't opened it.
    Now this…. R u serious ozbargain

  • +2

It's alot cheaper then the $1500

It was $2700 launch price. Just imagine who bought and looking at this deal.

    • +8

      Razor sharp discount.

      • +5

I flipped out when I saw it

    • +2

They're all cut up about it.

    • I bought the galaxy fold for 3k and saw it on sale for 1k. Got some money back through credit card price protection but still it was crazy. But using the fold I would say it was worth it. It has awesome spec and still going strong after almost 18 month of abuse and have gotten better with software updates. This one I would not recommend as it is just too underpowered with a small battery.

    • who bought and looking at this deal

I dont think many ozbargainers did. And who did is likely not looking back :)

  • Want to try this…. I'm sure the screen will be broken within weeks. You can return under warranty and get the money back.

  • +1

At this price, with warranty, it's a decent deal but I still think that foldables are 2-3 years off becoming mainstream so I wouldn't bother till then.

  • +1

I had a Motorola once. The V600. It was the shiznits.

  • +5

    This or a Gillette Razor?

    • neither get the Swiss Army Knife

  • When I was in the US as a student in 2007, I got the Moto Razr v3, the apple of my eye and the envy of others! Fun times!
I am very tempted to pull the plug on this.

  • My friend bought this for $1199 then reduced to $999, the front screen turned off in the first month.

  • +4

I'm sorta surprised im still not tempted even at this price

  • +2

You know what? For $600 for a mid-spec processor phone with a cool screen? You could do far worse 1up

  • +1

To be fair, i would pay 400 for it. 300 for the phone, 100 for the gimmick.

  • +7

This phone support e-sim only. No physical sim.

    • +5

I actually didn't believe you first till I looked up the specs on GSM Arena. That sucks, specially since hardly any telco support eSIM

      • Huh? Telstra, Optus and Voda all support eSim. I am using eSim atm.

        • +9

The major Telco yes. However, I'm talking the like of Boost, Aldi, Belong, Amaysim, Kogan, etc.

        • None of the MVNO currently supports eSim. And of the big 3, only optus supports esim on prepaid I reckon.

  • +1

Just because it a good form factor. I think it worth it for the price!

If I Haven't just upgraded to a S21 and the fact that it can only utilize a eSIM (which boost doesn't cater for), I would of considered getting this.

  • +6

Those whose are getting tempted with price, remember this is eSim only, Single sim only and finally 128gb with no sd card slot

    • thats a pretty solid (anti)pitch. thanks man. sealed the (no)deal for me. the only thing other nail in the coffin woulda been no headphone jack. hahaha

  • what happened to the gold version?

Would bite this ina minute for the 5g version.

  • +2

Flip phone is going to be the next 3D TV. Once the hype is gone they will be obsolete.

    • There is ZERO hype. Couldn't give this piece of 💩 away.

    • I like the idea of folding phones. Especially one day someone will bring out a folding phone and end up folding it out, and out again like the hold paper maps people used to have so much trouble folding out then folding to the piece they want.

Also on the eye out for the fold out phone that doubles up as a picnic blanket.

    • Flip/folding phones are the future, available now (flip less so, but still convenient though less functional).

We're only in the 2/3rd generation and they feel miles ahead of anything else.
Running a tablet in a phone form-factor is game changing.

    • Except folding phone have been around for literally decades.

My dad has been using folding phones to this day, is currently on some cheap Konka crap because he doesn't like slab phones.

  • +11

It would be so satisfying to hang up calls with this. Slam bye!

    • Or twist and break heinsberg style… but i'm too poor for that!

  • I'm holding out for a $400 price range as it more accurately reflects the hardware of this phone.

    • and when that happens the hardware is even older and you'll want to hold out for a lower price

    • $455 now ! doubt will go lower as not many stores have any in stock

  • +3

Showing up as $999 for me .

    • party is over :(

  • Still 599 on my side.

  • Me to $599 - But after realizing esim only, - Big no.

  • Most comments are not in favour of this phone and at the time of writing this comment, this post has 110 positive votes

    • It's the best price ever, esp' since it was a $2.6k phone, but we realise that bleeding edge tech like this has its shortcomings.

    • It is still a good price for the novelty. Plus, it was 2.5k. The (profanity)!?

  • Crap specs if this had the specs of a Samsung it will sell for sure.

Lenovo can't make decent phones since bought out Motorola. When Motorola was owned by Google it was still decent

Moto X and early G series were fanastic

This is a flip flap flop

  • " When Motorola was owned by Google"

I still miss my Nexus 6…

  • If this thing didn't have a chin larger than Jay Leno's, I would actually have considered it…

  • Got one delivered today, has a cluster of about 4 dead pixels :(

Contacted the local store and was told if I want a replacement I need to get the "online team" to handle it as there is no stock in any store in SA.
