Thanks to COVID delays to a big planned annual trip, I'm currently now day #530 of my lesson streak in duolingo and still feel I know nothing other than some odd vocab. Thanks for this - I think it'll provide me some much needed structure!

    • Enjoy. It should help you progress more. Buenas noches!

Jatacid, I suggest try and get hold of michel thomas spanish. It will gove you the strutcure and allow you to put a sentence together but without much vocab. Combined with what you have already learnt on duo- should be a winner

      • I only have done 2 cd's of Michel Thomas and its quite good at getting your Spanish up.

However the lip smacking does me in and I blame that for not continuing and not my laziness.

Check out Language Transfer Complete Spanish. 100% free. It's an audio course that very clearly explains structures, conjugations, tenses. Also starts you off with a whole bunch of vocab you already know from English's Latin-based vocab.

I think duolingo is okay for learning some vocab, but I found I really need to learn the structure and yes grammar of the language before I could start putting it together. I also found listening to spanish learning podcasts really helped, hearing the language regularly was a big thing.

Coffee Break Spanish is a good resource, free and takes you right from absolute beginner (if you scroll back to the 2008 episodes!) right up to quite advanced.

I got close enough to fluent for a year or two there, pero ya he olvidado mucho. Necesito practicar mas!

  • ¡Gracias!
