Now to find something I need for $1 for that Ozbargain life.

    • +6

      Why?

      • -5

Looks better but in terms of performance I find watercoolers have higher latent cooling ability.

So I can set the ramp up speed of the fans to 70-80c and only go full speed at close to max CPU temp which is rare. Basically means for the most part my watercooled fans are only idling and dead silent.

        • +1

If you can hear this cpu fan running on max through your case you’re superhuman

          Are you running insane overclock?

          • @ChadHominem: Yeah my 6900 XT and 5800X along with my 1000w Platinum PSU pump out a bit of heat

            • +1

@4foxache: A DRP4 can tank a fully OC'd 5800x quietly easy if you set your own curves. I've pumped 250w into quite a few ryzen chips now, manually per ccx to get Max MT perf.

        • -1

I think these coolers look better imo. Love the Be quiet one needs some rgb though.

    • Not everyone has an overclocked 300+W CPU.

  • +2

    These are pretty good

  • Is this quieter or better cooling than noctua?

    • +3

Cheaper than a Noctua that's for sure - I put a Pure Rock 2 on my Ryzen 3600 to replace the stock - dropped 20 degrees during load

Running around 36 idle and barely hitting 60 when gaming. So I'm happy with my purchase

      Whisper quiet too.

Pain in the a$$ getting the fan on if your motherboard is already in the case.

    • -1

I've seen reviews where it is better in both.

I think they would be more popular but the complete Be Quiet line in not available in the USA (patent issues?)

BQ is a German, Noc is Austrian (Both made in China)

    • I did a comparison and they were virtually the same performance wise. I ended up going the NOCTUA because of dimensions.

HIGHLY advise you triple check the dimensions and ram clearance is compatible with your motherboard/RAM/GPU. (Yes GPU can be an issue. My Noctua is pressed up against my GPU.

I have the normal Dark Rock 4, non pro, on my 3700x and it is dead silent and performs better than the Wraith Prism that came with it.
Would recommend it if you want a silent build. Also their case fans are on special and really good too.

  • Damn. Had I waited could have got this one instead of the Scythe Fuma 2 for $109 aud delivered.

    • In the exact same boat. Are you outside the return window? I'm still just inside it and thinking of returning it and getting this.

      • I bought in in Feb so definitely no return. The base cooler of my 3600xt just out right over heat and shut down my pc so I had to bought something fast.

The fact that my rtx 3080 flow hot air directly up toward the cpu cooler didn't help neither.

Hence the Scythe Fuma 2 was a good deal. But between it and the Dark Rock Pro 4, the only better thing the latter one has would probably be speed control.

So in all fairness, the Fuma 2 got the job done well. My cpu never ran more than 65 degree again.

Pretty much the best of the best for Air coolers. Others have said, some high end water coolers may just pip it, but considering there's no liquid in the system, no risk of the pump failing, if the fans ever fail it will still work and can be easily replaced. Yeah, I rate Air coolers.

I have installed a Dark Rock Pro 3, the Pro 4 has a much better mounting system, if you're wondering why the front fan is smaller, it's for tall ram compatibility.

Why do people buy $100 air cooler when 240mm/360mm aio is cheaper :confusion:

    • +10

      Reliability, personal preference and quality.

    • You would actually trust water coolers that are that cheap?

      • -5

the accc do the trusting for me

        • +1

No, the ACL covers your wallet for when things go wrong with the product. It doesn't cover your wallet for things that aren't related to the product going wrong because the product is faulty.
Air coolers are more reliable and when things fail they don't fail as catastrophically. They also have a longer working life.

    • +2

AIO have a shelf life. I’m 4 years into mine and the manufacturer recommends replacement after 5 years. Sure the lights are pretty but I’m pretty sure I’ve got bubbles or something because the noise has gotten worst over the years and decided I’m never going water again.

  • This enough to cool a 5900x/5950x ?

  • These are excellent coolers, just keep in mind if the height of the cooler fits your case.
I believe this has a maximum height of 162.8mm so be mindful that it fits inside.

If too tall, the scythe fuma 2 is a great alternative which is shorter at 154.5mm.
Very happy running a fuma 2 on a 3700x, maximum 56 degrees running cpu intensive games like Tarkov (high 80s / 90s with stock cooler and cpu throttling).
Really made the whole experience much more peaceful and smoother.
Silent acoustics and idles in the 30s. Quick delivery from Amazon and comes with everything you need for installation (including a long screw driver).

  • Great find! Got the CPU Cooler and 3 fans (10 each) - 129 total delivered!

  • I use the SNOWMAN CPU Cooler with 6 direct contact Heat Pipes and 2 12cm fans which does the job really well for less than $50.

    • Cute name
      Is it quiet?

      • Pretty quiet :)

    • how long have you been using it? does it run 24/7?

      • Just a few weeks and I found them to be quite sufficient to keep my i5-9600K OCed pretty cool :)

    • +1

  • would this be suitable to replace the front fan on an Alienware Aurora r11?

    • +1

I think the R11 needs specific fans (Corsair ML120 Pro) otherwise it spits the dummy - some MB error.

    • +1

This is a cpu fan not case fan

  • +3

Very impressed with be quiet's quality. I've had my Dark Rock Pro 3 for 5+ years now and it hasn't missed a beat.

    • +1

      Do you beat often?

      • +1

Probably not - too busy chasing papers.

        • Correct. Busy chasing papers by constantly beating the market. #gains

  • Anyone know what Be Quiet fans fit the Dark Rock Pro 4, fans are on sale at the moment but not sure which 120mm fan to buy ?
