Just bought some disposable one from recent deal posted by from Alex01 and were looking for refill. Found this gem shown on Amazon and could not resist to stock up for this winter time.

I commonly used DampFree 3.4kg refill from Bunnings for $12. Thought it was a deal until this.

Edit: Just found that it seems to be at its lowest price since Jul 26, 2019 according to CCC

Now, you have me thinking how I could find value in such a product for my needs! Heh.

  • Shame they didn't do a deal on the refillable one to go with this, as assume it might be easier to refill compared to disposable one posted earlier today

Theres nothing stopping you from opening it up and pouring some in.

You can use the disposable ones with the refill anyway. I normally just peel off the seal of any disposable ones and top it up. Just put them where it could not be bumped into or tipped over. Then it makes no difference to the refillable Damprid anyway.

I have been using this and refill when needed. Have a least a few uses before putting them in the recycle bin.

Can you please explain what this might be used for? Thanks

      Refill a damp rid container?

    • Get rid of damp?
      It's in the name :)

Help reduce humidity in the air to prevent mould… I live in a small unit with poor ventilation/articulated windows… The moisture can't get out. Only one extraction fan in the bathroom. These really help with keeping mould at bay - I didn't realise I had a problem until I started digging behind couches/shoe rack/winter clothes etc (it was disgusting and sudden!). I can highly recommend Damprid.

Thanks! I got one, was a legitimate question for the people who negged.

    • I keep a container of this stuff in my closet. It helps keep the clothes feeling fresh and smell free

    • It also works really well if you put a container of this in the interior of a car you’re not driving often to keep it fresh (eg weekender).

Does anyone know how effective are these for a high moisture area like a shower (without an exhaust fan)?

    • +1

Yep. Got one in the bathroom and it fills up. Works a treat

Thanks, bought 2, dded a Sandisk High Endurance 128GB to get an Amazon $20 gift card.

  • This is great price, it's $8 for 1.19kg at Bunnings: https://www.bunnings.com.au/damprid-1-19kg-moisture-absorber…

For reference, the tub takes 300g, 3.4kg is enough for 11 refills. Less than a dollar each time.

  • For small environments like the fridge or a drawer I use those little sachets you find in tortillas packages or shoes.

  • Great price, use it all the time in the wardrobes, cos lots of moisture breathed out when you're asleep; still it's expensive for what is basically salt (from what I can tell), same goes for cat litter crystals.

  • hmmm anyone tried dehydrating food with this?

    • +1

It didn't work. The crystals turned to liquid and my fruit just ended up wet and soaking in some unknown chemical.

Works like a charm, but you need to set it up properly. I used a Decor container with plastic rack, filled the bottom with a layer of damprid, added a few slices of cut plastic bottles on top as spacer and added the rack, that should sit stable in the middle of the container. Then the fruit onto the rack and close the lid. Have an eye on the moisture content of the damprid, if it gets too wet after a few days empty it and add a new layer.
The damprid never touched the food due to the spacer, so I haven't noticed any odd taste.

If you use a fair bit of Damp Rid it maybe better and certainly cheaper to buy a bulk bag from your local Agricultural & Farm Supplies centre. I usually buy a 25kg bag from my local for $28. Damp Rid is just a mineral salt known as calcium chloride. It has many other uses as well and not just used to remove moisture from the air.

I can't find 25kg bags of CaCl2 for that price anywhere online. Where are these outlets?

  • Does it have similar purpose as this one https://www.amazon.com.au/Purifying-Activated-Charcoal-Bathr…?

  • Doesn’t want to add to cart. Expired?

  • How do you get rid of the old crystal which has clumped into a rock

  • On backorder now

  • It's back in stock.
