shit, I have to resist, may the force be with me…………

    • Goood guuuud
      Do it.

This monitor is pretty awesome. If only we could get decent video cards to run games on it…

    • +4

      Same here
      No money buy GPU
No need to buy Good monitor

      • The real saving here.

    • +2

is a single 3080 enough for this to play modern games?

      • +1

        Yes, SLI is dead

      • +4

If it's any revelation for you I'm running the lg 38" variant of the monitor.

For triple A titles and poorly optimised games, my 3090 will hit around 90-150 frames depending on the graphic settings (medium - max).

Cyberpunk could only go to 70-80 b4 my gpu started hitting temps of 80+ degrees.

Games like csgo and league of legends will hit over 270-400 on max graphics (other gpu may have better performance as I undervolted my gpu to keep temps down).

Take it with a grain of salt tho.

        • +5

my gpu started hitting temps of 80+

That's just a normal operating temprature.

          • @Diji1: My PC keeps my room warm in winter.

      • Yes easily.

      • Yes I have this monitor and a 3080, very happy with both.

      • I have this monitor and 2080ti (although OC'd with custom waterloop) and easily hit 144+ in the FPS games I play. Titles like Witcher 3 can start to drop a bit under 100 here and there but i usually just play on mid settings to get the 144.

God dammit … trigger pulled. I blame you. Thanks mate

      • I assume driew's code worked in conjunction with this deal? was so close to jumping on it but I just cant right now. Wanting to know for the future.

        • Yep worked for me.

        • It’s a single use code from a Dell Advantage Coupon.

      • +2

        Haha you're welcome mate 😅

  • Do you get cashback from this?

    • No cashback on monitors it seems currently unfortunately.

  • oh damn… I have been eyeing off this monitor for ages… this is too tempting… told the Mrs I would wait till the end of the year!

    • +12

Tell her you meant the end of financial year!

      • +4

You are an absolute genius! I can see this is not the first time you have played this game, good sir.

        • le back to reddit, good sir

  • OP can you also get Dell 34 Monitor - S3422DW?

    • on sale from Dell Ebay. delivery upto 30 days

      • got some credit from dell and want to buy 2 to use Amex deal

      • This or the Xiaomi 34?

        • +1

if you game Xiaomi, I am purely use for office work and it comes with 3 years warranty, I will pick this one.

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Let me get this straight, you're recommending the most expensive 38" gaming monitor for office work duties.

        • This is far superior to the Xiaomi for gaming.

          • @Diji1: To confirm @Diji1 when you say 'this' are you speaking about the Dell S3422DW or the Xiaomi 34" —- as that's what my comparisson question was in regards to and which SnoozeAndLose was responding to.

  • +1

Comes down to $1,269.10! using amex $120 CR and $75 Voucher. But damn no Type-c. Have to pass..

    • Forgive my ignorance, but why is type c so important?

      • +2

Can charge a laptop, the monitor almost acts like a docking station

        • Ahh I see. I can see why this would be useful but for me the price of this monitor compared to its counterparts, I would just run an extra cable.

        • so it PD Charing?

        • Why are you plugging a laptop into this lol

          • @ln28909: Why not? So I don't need 2 monitors for work and home. TB port to my laptop for charging and display and display port for gaming.
Dell has this product U3421WE which has everything, KVM too but it's for productivity.

            • @BargainIsKing: get this for gaming and a 2nd monitor with usb c support for your laptop, this wont be sufficient to supplement the secondary monitor anyway

      • Its not.

    • I think you need Thunderbolt for that right? Or can it be just USB-C?

    • +2

Yep Type-C would have made this the killer product to end all other products.

      • Completely agree. With built-in KVM too, it would be killder but expect price is level high

        • So it doesn't have USB type C?

Just looking for reasons NOT to cave in…

  • I'm wondering if this is worthwhile upgrading from my X34P. I'm sure it's not…. But maybe….

    • I’m in the same position. Probably not worth it for a casual gamer like me, but I would like the bigger screen + refresh rate

    • +1

I upgraded from a X34, the Dell has far superior colour reproduction, temporal motion resolution and contrast and the size is better. Particularly way better g2g times makes everything look much clearer during motion.

But apparently the X34P is an upgrade from the X34.

    • +1

I went from X34P to this. In every way the monitor is better, peak brightness, colour, contrast, refresh rate, resolution etc, but I've actually noticed I seem to play worse on it.

I think 34" was the sweet spot for my vision to be able to take it all in without panning my eyes too much if that makes sense. I really have to make an effort to look in the corners of my screen.

TBH if Dell do a remake in a few years of a 4K panel in 34-35" I will probably drop back down when i upgrade but either way I am still really happy with the purchase. Plus I sold my old X34P for $800 so this was only a $700 upgrade or so.

  • Dell telling enterprise customers that anything that has a screen or a processor has about a 2 month delay. I wonder where these would be coming from?

    • Probably can't shift them to gamers since new video cards have been unavailable from last November

  • Very good deal. I have this monitor and colours are brilliant. You tube vids never looked so alive at 4k hdr. Running this off a 2080Ti.
I set my windows to hdr mode to make my wallpaper pop. Workspace is massive. Games are immersive, especially fps.

    • Reviews suggest the blacks are washed out/grey. Have you noticed that?

      • In hdr mode no

      • +1

I think that’s IPS in general.

        • Yes thats IPS in general.

If there was a superior type of panel, we would all use that one.

      • Literally has the best blacks of any screen ive used other than OLED. Apparently it has some sort of try hard local dimming that causes this.

    • hows your gaming fps with a 2080Ti?

      • +1

it is brilliant, doom eternal at 3840x1600 144 fps consistent. I can't praise this monitor enough

    • HDR sucks on this monitor. I turn it off completely.
      Local dimming is atrocious.

  • +1

Been really looking forward to buy this monitor until the announcement of the 42" OLED which won't be available until next year.

    • ultra wide?

      • No sorry it's the 42" 16:9 ratio. But the 42" OLED will have the VVR 120Hz support and works well with PC / Console.

  • Anyone who is looking at purchasing something via DELL, I have a $15 advantage coupon code. PM me for further details.

  • -1

what makes a monitor worth so much? just because its curved? I am a computer dummy

    • +3

It operates very fast so that the image is not blurred during motion.

has very good colour reproduction although you can get that on cheaper monitors.

      also very large panel

    • Three points of the triangle.

*Display type - IPS is usually considered the best but it also comes down to preference. IPS are more expensive than TN and VA panels.
*Refresh rate - higher refresh rate is more expensive if everything else is kept the same.
*Resolution - higher resolution is more expensive if everything else is kept the same.

This monitor has high specs in all of those categories.

  • Thanks op, got this for 1240, since I found a unused coupon in my email.

For those ready to pull trigger, I highly recommend you to check your emails in junk, there could be a coupon code for use!

    • Dell coupon?

      • Yes, dell coupon

        • Couldnt find any unfotunately :(. Was it a single use code?

          • @jar-unit: not sure if it is single use. But here it is my coupon, if it is still usable, has been messaged to you

  • I think this sale is on purpose because recently all the major pc parts shop raise the price of this monitor to $2500 due to the shortage and lockdown in Melb, which is taking advantages of the customers. Very good prices!

  • This monitor has been on sale like every 2 weeks - fighting the urge, I dont need it. I have the 34 inch Gigabyte UW 144Hz, its not a worthy upgrade! anyone else able to knock sense into me.

    • +2

Same problem but with the Alienware 34DW. We all want an extra 4 inches…

    • I upgraded from a 34" UW to this.

Extra vertical space is good for productivity.

  • Ahhh Couldn't resist at this price, had it in the cart at $1911 yesterday, thanks OP!

  • I bought this monitor during the last sale and it has been absolutely amazing. After colour calibration it is extremely accurate, and the balance is excellent - working with photo and video is an amazing experience due to the additional real estate, and gaming at UW 1600p 144hz (with an RTX 3090) is such a joy.

I came from a Samsung UW 34" 100hz and no regrets at all!

Highly recommend, only if it fits your use-case.

    • Do you find it too wide to see both bottom corners of a gaming HUD without much head moving?

      • +1

Not at all, but then I'm using a monitor arm on a corner desk so there's plenty of space to adjust.

    • Did you get a dell coupon code from your purchase?

      • No coupon last time, it was a different deal altogether.

  • +1

Will I get 120hz with Xbox series x? New in this horizon !!

    • PS5 and Xbox dont support this resolution afaik. So you'll be stuck gaming at 1080p. HDMI 2.0 supports FHD at 120hz so if you're fine with 1080p then yeah you can get 120hz if its supported by the game.

      • Oh… then is it a good idea to run at 1080 at this monitor when I will sitting close as we do with monitors?

        • +1

is it a good idea to run at 1080 at this monitor

No it will look blurry running flat panel at non-native resolution.

    • does your x-Box support utra wide?

      • I know I would be dealing with black borders at both side…so evaluation if it’s worth buying this

        • +1

If you're buying monitor for XBox/PS5 just get one of the 27" 4K Dell ones thats always on sale.

    • thanks everyone for helping me to not to buy this :) save 1000+ to spend on some other needless thing :P

  • Do eBay purchases from Dell come with the $100 coupon?
