  • Do you know if it will works with chromecast with google TV

    • I don't know the answer, but I'm curious how you would expect it to work? So you can connect this hub to Chromecast via USB-C and have the hub's ports available in Chromecast?

      • +1

So i can increase the storage in the chromecast by adding a USB storage

This particular one is known to work with Chromecast with Google TV

It would want to be massively better than this one https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B086VFXX78 for that price.

    • Yeah, I'm also curious about the value of this deal here. So many cheaper hubs that seem smaller and have more ports.

    • +2

I think that's a bad example, That one is a cheap hub with a low rating(for hubs). It also does not work the Chromecast.

My personal choice would be this VAVA one.

  • Many of the cheap ones get really hot, not sure about this one but seems like a good deal

    • +1

i think these also in the same group as the cheap ones.

$25 things from aliexpress, when get sold in australia store become $100 on shelf (Then $60 when on special - and people think wowwww cheapppppp bargain lets get it…)

      • In my opinion, having read through reviews for cheaper hubs they seem to commonly have the following issues:

        • No Chromecast compatibility
        • HDMI disconnection issues
        • Higher percentage of reviews that report them breaking

Depending on what device you're connecting it to, is it really worth buying something that is completely unbranded, with minimal reviews?

    • not sure about this one but seems like a good deal

So what does it make you see it a good deal?

      • Knowing the brand and being sold by Myer
Although I only had phone holder and case this brand, lol
I bought the VAVA from Amazon for $37, so far ok, gets hot at times but no issues

  • I couldn’t find anywhere whether this can do 4K@60Hz so until I know that, tis a no deal

    • No. People keep asking about mythical 4K60Hz hubs. They don't really exist. You're probably after a Thunderbolt dock.

    • They don't exist at this pricepoint.

      • +1

4k60 unicorns do exist! … but you do need to have the right setup (ie a computer with DisplayPort 1.4).

I am currently typing on an M1 MacBook Air and Plugable hub, with both displays at full resolutions and HDR enabled on the 4k display (see https://imgur.com/pwg9i3u). The Plugable hub is currently unavailable on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08NXV94QM/ref=ppx_od_d…), but I bought it in Feb for around $42.

In saying that, my Dad bought a HeyMix(?) USB C hub advertising 4k60 and it works for about 5 mins before blanking out and flickering.

thanks OP - I ended up getting the Cygnett Unite DeskMate USB-C Hub Silver and priced beat it at OW for an extra 5%.

  • Stock is limited for the specific model OP posted, I couldn't order it to be delivered and no store near me has the stock.
But other models seem to be in stock and still half price.
