The International Olympic Committee (IOC), collaborating with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), are coming together to bring you the Olympic Virtual Series, hosted on Zwift.

This series will serve up a full month of action between June 1–27. Olympian-hosted podcasts and Olympian-inspired workouts with surprise guests, all leading to 24-hour group rides as well as a broadcasted chase-style event with Olympians on June 18th! This unique Chase Race will see Olympians pitted against celebrities and a few lucky community members seeded. All riders will be gridded and set off over various start intervals.

Group Rides & Workouts
From June 1 to June 27, dive into a month of fun with both social group rides and heart-pounding group workouts, inspired by eight top-notch Olympians and their racing specialties.

The group ride with Anna Meares will be scheduled between June 20 - June 22: with six Olympic medals, Anna Meares, OAM, is the most decorated woman track cyclist of all time. Her credentials also extend to being the 500m track time trial World Champion on four different occasions.

  • Was literally just about to sign up.
This'll push it out another month, pity they only usually provide 7-14 day trials.
    Cheers OP.

  • are these any good? I'm in the market for a peloton or zwift

Zwift is a computer program that you run on an ipad or laptop. To use it you also need an actual bicycle and a smart trainer. You sit the bike onto the trainer and hook it all up wireless to the laptop running zwift. Most of the people using zwift are already cyclists and already have a bike so their cost is the smart trainer. I ride zwift 3-4 days a week to help with fitness for outdoor weekend rides. It has been an amazing training tool and has made me much fitter. I'm not sure about a peloton, all my friends ride on zwift.

  • really daunting task ahead trying to figure out which indoor smart trainer to get - and they are pricey

anyone know if there is an ozbargain preferred indoor smart trainer?

The Schwinn IC8 is quite good but pricey at $1,500+delivery.

There's some issues with overestimating power with Zwift as well, but manageable. Cheaper than accurate trainers and/or adding power pedals.

Bonus is it's compatible with the peloton app (I use this setup with an iPad) as well.

    • Depends what you've already got and how much you want to spend, IMO direct drive is worth it.
I went with a Flux S and have been happy with it, but that was pre pandemic so got it for $850
