Telstra $69/Month Mobile Broadband Plan: 150GB + Bonus 150GB Per Month for 12 Months + $350 eGift Card @ The Good Guys in-Store

450

Hi guys its me back with a mediocre deal.

I've been shopping for mobile broadband lately for the new place. I've compared with a couple of other places:
Telstra: 400GB @ $75/mth ($10 credit for 12 mths)
Optus: unlimited @ $75/mth

So this deal seems okay?

edit: ok guys I know the $500gc@jbhifi deal is better but please note that this is mobile broadband so a bit more internet is probably needed

Yeah I would personally wait until they offer the $500GC for same deal otherwise if you need a lot of internet go for it or go for something like boost

    • Does boost offer mobile broadband? I don't think they even offer 5G for all their plans because I'm on the prepaid 300GB/$225 boost plan atm but its only 4G.

You can sometimes get $500 with 150gb but if you want plenty of data this is a better deal. Putting this in a 4g or 5g modem gets you home internet.

    $59 with 80gb plan and 500gc better

    • +3

      Genius !

    • +1

      Where?

  • +2

Seems very good. $478 if you value the $350 GG card at face value. $40/month for 300gb + 1.5mbps on overage.

    • +3

Yes very good deal for $40/month, considering the 5G support and tax deductions.

If 5G is not important, Felix Mobile has 20Mbps unlimited for $35/month.

    • Much faster than 1.5mbps on average. My area has access to Telstra 5G network and it is unironically better than their NBN offerings from my experience.

      • +5

Perhaps he means after you burn through your allowances?

  • And the plan includes 5G network access as well. I still prefer Optus since it is unlimited.

  • Telstra: 400GB @ $75/mth ($10 credit for 12 mths)

$75 after applying $10 credit or before?

    • -2

$65 after the credit (so $75 originally)

      • Then its a good value for money!

        • Yeah it's definitely a viable option if you need heaps of internet. I don't think I'll use more than 200gb/mth though.

          • @epkh: Then you have your answer, the winner is the deal you have mentioned in your Title!!

Unless you can get a GC in the deal I highlighted!

            • @TaurusHead: I'm on Vodafone $55/month for 500GB. Pretty good at my place (suprisingly Telstra is suck for me)

              • @Averell: How come I'm paying $60 and you are paying $55 for the same stuff, although Vodafone sometimes suck!!

      • The original plan is $85, so $75 after $10 credit

        • That's what I thought!

  • Optus: unlimited @ $75/mth

    Where is this deal?

    • It's on their Optus mobile broadband page. Optus 5g coverage isn't as good as Telstra though.

      • Link? That deal wasn’t showing for me. Biggest plan for mobile internet showing was 150gb for $50

    • Is there a way to check and confirm if your area has Optus 5G?

  • +1

Ask them (JBHifi) to add $10 monthly credits to this deal make it $59 per month. I got it a couple weeks ago on a quiet Saturday.

  • Can't believe I am starting to wish to have 5G in my area after reading you guys' comments

    • Careful, it might interfere with your vaccine chip

  • I ordered the 75/month for 400gb from telstra yesterday… Ughh

    • there is no lock in contract for the 75/m 400GB plan, so switch to this one if you like.

  • Genuine questions 🙋‍♂️
What’s the reason to use Mobile Broadband? unstable NBN?
Which mobile broad modem do you use? Thanks

    • +1

At the moment I'm just shopping around between mobile broadband and NBN. Since my needs are only 200GB or so of internet, medium-sized 5G internet, which offers speeds comparable to fast NBN plans, become competitive in pricing.

I'm also renting in an apartment so there is the convenience of how easy mobile broadband is to set up and only have to consider network coverage in the future.

That being said, I have not completely chosen mobile broadband either so I'm still open to suggestions.

      • +1

have brought a prepaid sim from each carrier tested which is the best ?

    • Pure convenience of taking it with you wherever you go and 5G speeds can be much 2-4x faster than your NBN in some cases

    • huawei b818 check fakebook or gumcrap for secondhand one. work on all carriers

    • For me, I can't get NBN in my apartment, I need LNBN, there are a few suppliers, many of which you will never have heard of, terrible plans and a $350 connection fee, I can get Gbit fibre on it though. That's do to with developers getting kickbacks from the LNBN wholesaler, why this is allowed, I am not sure but here we are.

So I am on a Optus 200GB 4G plan currently. Of that, I struggle to go over 150GB (no gaming, no streaming etc)

That and I can use it anywhere when I travel nationally.

  • I hate Telstrarse

  • How are the gift cards delivered?

  • Was trying to get Optus. Address check said not available in your area. However Telstra / Spintel (use Optus) doesn’t check address at all.
Am I ok to go with Optus? Optus 4G on my mobile works ok at the address.

    • Note that 4g area and 5g area aren't always the same; overlapping. So if the Optus plan includes 5g you might miss out on that.
