  • Band 28 on this phone?

  • If only this was available in the black. Hmmm.

Is there a difference between the (presumably) UK/EU version and the Global version? I can't seem to find a difference but I am assuming there usually is as per other models?

    • +2

I wouldn't worry about the colour, unless you were planning not to use a case?

      • any idea re. if there is actually a difference between UK version (as amazon specifically says UK version) compared to the global version in terms of hardware?

Assuming software issues can be rectified easily anyways.

    • +7

I would rather pay 36 dollars extra and get the Amazon warranty. Banggood warranty service is no where close to Amazon

      • +2

sk3iron is forgetting that not all apples taste the same. Some leave lemon aftertaste.

      • -4

Banggood are an authorised Xiaomi dealer meaning you can obtain warranty straight from Xiaomi, https://www.mi-store.com.au/warranty

        • +1

Xiaomi AU won't honour warranties on products bought from overseas stores.

          (didn't neg you btw)

          • -1

@Clear: From experience? Coz the t&c's don't state that.

            • +1

@sk3iron: The T&C's are referring to their own website and the marketplaces they sell on, e.g. eBay.

There's been people reporting that they won't honour overseas purchases. It's important to note that Panmi Pty Ltd is the official distributor of Xiaomi in Australia and not Xiaomi itself.

              • +1

@Clear: Apologies, you are correct, the correct link is: https://www.mi.com/global/service/support/warranty/au.html and the terms are super fishy

"Except as prohibited by laws or otherwise promised by Xiaomi, the after-sales services shall be limited to the country or region of the original purchase. Products which were not duly imported and/or were not duly manufactured by Xiaomi and/or were not duly acquired from Xiaomi or a Xiaomi’s official seller are not covered by the present warranties. As per applicable law you may benefit from warranties from the non-official retailer who sold the product. Therefore, Xiaomi invites you to contact the retailer from whom you purchased the product. The present warranties do not apply in Hong Kong and Taiwan."

                • @sk3iron: Yes that's correct. So if you buy from Banggood, then Xiaomi AU won't honour the warranty as it didn't come from Australia. Furthermore if you were to buy from a store like Gearbite, again they won't honour it because Gearbite source their Xiaomi from China/HK instead of Panmi in AU.

                  • +3

@Clear: I've removed my deal neg as per this warranty issue coz thats dodgy af. I'm still willing to take a punt on the cheaper devices like the X3 Pro but for the miniscule difference in F3 pricing, I agree, i'd go for the Amazon warranty as well.

                    • @sk3iron: Dodgy but not completely surprising. When it comes to Xiaomi phones there can be regional differences in both hardware and size. This is particularly true with the Chinese phones not supporting B28, while the Taiwanese and Indian versions do.

    • What they said.

  • Amazon reduced the price to $512.16. Even better :-) Updated the title accordingly.

    • looks like the price just jumped back up . .

  • Does this support wireless charging? Would be a great feature if it does.

    • Unfortunately no wireless charging. I was looking for wireless charging as well! The rest of the specs are great for the price, so purchased it sacrificing wireless charging ;-)

      • +1

Get a wireless charging receiver, hide it under case and you're sorted. Just means you can't use usb for anything else

        • Does it interfere with NFC?

          • +1

@ihfree: Oops did not see this. It should not but I will try and test it out tomorrow and post back

EDIT: forgot about NFC on my headphones. It has worked for them without issue. Can't see why it should not for anything else but will confirm tap and pay works tomorrow too.

Just a heads up everybody, this phone makes use of PWM dimming for the screen, which really messes with some people's eyes. Make sure your eyes can deal with it, lest you're alright with headaches when using the phone at low brightness.

    • Yuck. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Damn just bought this from banggood last week, would it be worth it to buy this and return the other one due to the warranty?

  • At this price I'd get something with a better camera

    • +2

Similar spec with better camera at this price! Any recommendation?

      • I'd forego the 5g since I'm with belong and pay$10 a month for phone usage

        • That really is a personal choice and circumstance. Nothing to do with this deal which I believe is a pretty good one. You really can't compare apples to oranges.

  • Price has gone up.
