    Don't bother.

    • -4

      Cashrewards or nothing

  • Thrilled to see this because I just bought a $130 calculator yesterday and I forgot about cashback altogether.. hoping it lived in computer or office and I missed out on nothing

  • +12

Appreciate that you separated the "Don't bother" categories, thx Dealbot!

    • +1

Agreed. Seems everything I want is in don't bother category

  • -7

Wow I'm surprised people still use shopback.

All YOUR Email addresses, Geographic locations, Names, Passwords, Phone numbers have been leaked to the hacker community.

    Check your email address here:

    https://haveibeenpwned.com/

    • A positive result on that site doesn't necessarily mean it was Shopback. Many, many other business have had the same issues and will continue to into the future. Not really fair to pin it all on them.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have handled the breach better, but it's getting a bit old to hate on the company forever more.

If this sort of thing fundamentally shakes your faith in the security of your information, probably time to stop using the internet and go 'off grid'.

      • +1

its the scam emails & phone calls.

There's no excuse to get your customer database hacked. All preventable. And just because plenty of others do get hacked doesn't mean we should just accept it. If the public give companies a good long hard booting, then maybe they'd take protecting our data more seriously.

I know my shopback email address is being used because I created one especially.

    • +1

Much better to keep using all those stores that might have leaked your data and don't know, or knew they leaked your data and said nothing, which is 99% of the details of haveibeenpwned

You definitely can't trust somebody who comes clean about these sorts of thing /s

    • +3

I'm fairly certain ONLY ONE of my Email addresses was recorded. Same email address that was recorded from Adobe, dropbox and the many other companies that have been hacked. Shopback passwords were stored as salted SHA-1 hashes, which makes it nearly impossible to reverse to anything usable. And it's not like they sold our data unlike other companies. Seems a lot ado about not much…

Amazon really have to pull up their socks up and do better. eBay have been giving them a run for the money. I have been getting many good deals and “freebies” through EBay this year and hardly spent any $ on Amazon other than paying for Prime…

    • +5

I thought the opposite was true….Too many time ebay sale 'bargains' cancelled by the sellers with big lack of any responsibility by ebay… No more sitewide deals - often sales result in sellers prices being artificially increased… Amazon have cancelled discounted sales orders without letting me know prior, but each time they have provided and equivalent or better item after a customer service call - any problem goods have been an easy/efficient returns process… I suspect my ebay plus won't be renewed unless there is a particularly good deal..

    • +1

Those freebies were mistakes by ebay. Nothing they will gloat about…

    • -1

I with you and AMZ no where close to Ebay lowest prices the last 6 months with the big promo prices.
Then they had the anti competitive attitude to leave the key categories with 0 cashback .
I only follow lowest prices normally found between the 2 normally.
BTW I'm not counting any freebies .

Not sure if I'm the unique one but I havent been successfully in getting cashback from shopback on Amazon purchases for the past few transactions (and as far as I can recall, for shopback its at least 4-5 transactions). Oh well …

    • +2

That's because SB business model dictates you must chase them daily for months until they finally cave and approve it.

      • lmao. that makes sense. is cashrewards as bad as shopback?

might just give up chasing a couple of dollars and not use any of them instead. the problem with affliates …

        • +1

I find CR better to deal with and requires less time investment chasing. However, it's usually SB that has the better cashback deals (at least for me). So it's a double edged sword.

  • Payment done with Amazon GIFT CARDS (not Amazon account credits) are eligible for cash back right?

  • Damn missed out on 7.5%. Oh well at least I know now

  • How do you know what category something is in? E.g.: an electric scooter.

  • can you get cash back on a prime membership (year)?

  • +1

I must say I have had nothing but good experiences with Cashrewards.

Shopback on the other hand gets tracked maybe 40-50% of the time. I specifically followed all of their instructions on the last purchase (eg. disable honey, cashrewards, VPN etc. all that jazz) and even screenshot the transaction to show them. Not only did it not track, when I put in a dispute they came back saying it is not up to them, but the retailer to decide who gets the cashback.

    • Hit them up with a fair trading slap. They tend to be more responsive when I let them know they're about to get a formalised complaint unless they pull their finger out of their … and sort out their BS canned responses.

      • +2

thank you, will do in future. Although I will probably stick to cashrewards from here on in.

Not sure how shopback is given airtime on here tbh, given all the comments in this post so far.

Here is what happened to me in last couple months:
SB rejected almost every single one transaction since I started to use them last year, but those were just couple dollars so I didn't really care. Until I bought a mirrorless camera on Amazon Flash sale via SB. It's $380 back that I should get from SB. And no surprise, they still played the same trick. They just rejected it after the 45 days pending period (kept fooling me with showing " pending" instead of "rejected" during the waiting period)with no sufficient reason. There was no item return ,no refund , whole purchasing process was done very carefully, I didn't even open other website tab when buying and payment cleared directly. SB cannot even give any certain reason when I contacting them. But they just don't want give u what they promised u , and what they doing good is playing game. SB started to keep tell me they were trying to contact Amazon AU and wait for response. Then another 2 months, yes 2 fxxking month for waiting Amazon response. And in this 2 month, SB never contact u with further information unless you ask them. Everytime u ask them , just "please waiting for response from the shop". Like a copy and paste. I just really pissed off by this scam website and finally get on Fair trading website and lodged a complain. Fair trading phoned me 3 days after and asked some info about the purchase and told me "leave this to them." And called me the second day asked me to check my SB account that the credit should be put in soon today and told me contact them if there is any further trouble. I just checked my account after the call and the credit is already in. This time no need waiting for any response, no bullshit reasons, just what they promised at the first place after just one call from Fair trading.
This is my experience with SB, if u r in the similar situation I suggest u to give fair trading a try. And I will definitely avoid this scam site in the future. Somewhere else u maybe get a smaller discount but at least real money, is still better than a beautful lie with nothing.

Reading this just after I posted my comment above and it is strikingly similar to many of my experiences with SB.

Long story short, this game of chasing SB and getting no traction is their modus operandi. It's basically their business model. They know a large percentage of people are not going to chase them up because life gets in the way and people get busy. So they receive their commission from the retailer while keeping your cashback for as long as possible. I strongly believe they keep it for stock investments and only return it once they're backed into a corner and legally have to pass it on to you.

Their behaviour is disgusting, unethical and stressful. I take screenshots of everything now and save them in a calender reminder with a link to the OZB post that notified me of the deal. I then have everything I need to hit up SB for the money.

But where possible, I'll use CR if I can.

      • Also, they make it very difficult to track if you do many transactions. It is impossible to know which cashback goes with which deal and can take hours to try to work it out. Not like Cashrewards where both appear right next to each other.

        • +1

Yeah that's why I take screenshots and note down everything in Google calendar. It's the only way to accurately track everything without letting their BS version of tracking do it for you.

    • can you please provide the link for making such complaint to Fair trading.
I'm in a similar boat and I have been receiving the same update in the past 6 months that SB is following up.
      I bought a camera with cashback $450

      • +1

Just on their official website"https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/",I'm living in NSW. There is a "make a complaint" on the first page. Click that and fill up all the questions followed. After that, they gonna contact you in couple days (5 days in my case.)

  • I see SB have an office in Sydney. Need to get them if not already on the ACCCs radar if their consistent behaviour is to dodge and not deliver on their core service of $ back and are effectively keeping it. The ACCC has serious teeth and the power to give big fines.

    • Only problem is they'll need tonnes of complaints for any real change to happen, and for the most part, many consumers couldn't be bothered for a few dollars. And SB know this so they continue doing what they do best - taking their affiliate commission and stalling your cashback.

  • anyone else's shop back account no longer accepting password?
