Since he got banned it's only fitting.

      • +1 vote

Woah, I had no clue he actually got banned damn

After like 12 years on here??

        • +5 votes

Not a permanent ban. He gets these smaller bans every year.

          •

            @Clear: Lol, every year!! :)

            •

@Zackeroo: Not really a surprise is it? ;)

          •

@Clear: What was it this time?

            •

@plmko: Probably being a pest like they usually are

I thought I read jv was a woman?
        Also, wtf!?
There is no ozbargain without jv!

        •

How will we know if there's any bargains? or not? 😅 While he/she's gone….

    •

What did JV get temp banned for anyway?

        Bold comments.

        Nah I don't know.

        • +1 vote

          Seems legit actually

      • +1 vote

It was a temp ban because he wasn't HOT enough

        •

          OHHHH makes sense

My guess is that he was crapping on too much and shunted into the sin bin for Trolling.
Trolling = Any comment or post that is made to, or appears to be, intended to incite controversy or conflict or cause annoyance or offence is considered “trolling”.

with it being "JV" it would not surprise me if this was the case……………

        Maybe vic lockdown related.
It’s the most I’ve seen him lose his cool previously

        •

maybe he got COVID and met his maker

          • +1 vote

@pinkybrain: If jv was made in the image of his maker, I don’t want to know who his maker is

I can’t help but picture them looking like the Kim Jong Un/Dan Andrews hybrid abomination in his profile pic lol

Would have thought being forced to stay home would be right up his alley, since he spends his most of his days posting random bolded comments.

            except instead of warcraft..its ozbargain.

Looks like a pain to use. So I just bought one. :)

    •

The idea.is you don't need to hold a big keyboard. It's not that bad.

      •

Yeah, it looks good for things that only need a bit of typing. Should be great for a TV.

      • -1 vote

        no need to use these
just use phone as a remote for kodi etc….

saves having to charge yet another remote control
or to find where you put it.

        • +22 votes

          no need to use these
just use phone as a remote for kodi etc….

It's quicker to pick up a keyboard and type right away as opposed to picking up my phone, turning it on and unlocking it, running the keyboard app, wait for it to connect, then type..

          • -12 votes

            @eug: not really..
if you are always using your phone
            then the phone is quicker..
since it is already unlocked and in your hands or near by
and unlock is not that long as you made it out to be or even launching the app…

You don't need to run the keyboard app or wait for it to connect..
you sound like you never actually used a kodi remote control app before.. LOL
You just launch the remote control app..it will connect to your last media player etc..

Also you can't just start typing away..on the real remote or the app..
you need to click the search button in kodi..then an on screen keyboard appears..then you can type..
and on the remote control app you just swipe right or press the keyboard button and start typing…

It is not that long or as complicated as you trying to make it out to be..
I am regular user of the app so I should know how long it would take..and it is not as long as you are making it out to be..

            this remote also
            -can get misplace somewhere
-now another remote control you need to find a place to put it along with all your other remotes..
-run out of battery (phone also too but phones are charged daily etc..so unlikely to be an issue)
-color and brightness/design looks crap on this remote.. (and does not look as nice as a kodi remote control app).

Also a proper kodi remote control app is 100 times better than these physical remote since it is design for the kodi
-with all the proper functional buttons built for it and showing on the app…and in a nicer looking GUI
-you can scrub the timeline etc.. (don't know if this remote can do that)
-not to mention you can do custom commands etc (this is the most useful thing about the remote control app)
which this remotes will never be able to do.

If you think this remote is useful for your needs then go for it..
but this will never be able to replace a proper remote control app.

I have considered getting these for kodi a few times
but ultimately realised for those reasons listed that these will never be as good as a proper kodi remote control app.

What if you're not always using your phone?

              • -11 votes

@eug: your what if is very unlikely since most people always using there phones or tablet all the time or to monitor it for calls/message etc
or have one near by them even when watching a movie etc..

and even if it wasn't and I know i want to watch something on kodi
I would consciously take my phone or tablet with me..

also most people probably got a few older phones they can install kodi remote control app on.
I got like 3 phones with the app installed..so if my main phone is charging I can use the others..
I also use it to to while it is charging if I need to..

But your scenario is very unlikely or very low
since like I said most people always got their phones or tablet near by them nowadays..
phones (first) and tablets (second) are the two devices people have very close by them at all times nowadays.. (unless they also got a smart watch which would always be with them)

Anyways if you are trying to find reasons or justifications for why you think your purpose is useful then no need to..
just you it if you actually need it..

                As a power user..
I just know that these will never replace a properly GUI design kodi remote control app
that has custom commands and can do things this remote will never be able to.

I also forgot other features it has since it has so many
is you can search your movies within the app itself and check out the movie info before you even play the movie..
or need to stop playing the current movie…
You can do that all on the app.. this remote would not be able to do this..

Don't know if you use the official kodi remote or not
but if is just not comparable or can be replaced with these very limited remotes..
especially if you are a power user..

If on the other hand all you do is play, pause, stop, skip and want to type on the keyboard
then this is probably right for you.

                  kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..kodi..

You seem to be so caught up in your own little kodi world to consider that there is other things apart from kodi and, believe it or not, some people don't even use kodi.

Also curious as to why you format your posts like your are writing poetry - is it a kodi power user thing?

                  •

@bargainpersona: Was gonna reply with the same thing, I did not see “only for use with Kodi” anywhere on the eBay listing.

Not sure where he saw that written but I intend to use it with my laptop hooked up to my TV…am I doing it wrong? ;-)

@pinkybrain: 385 words for mini-essay one, then 354 for mini-essay two. With the time spent to write the message you probably could have earned $6… enough for this keyboard.

    •

Do you have eBay Plus? The code is limited to 3 uses too.

      Still works, just bought one.

I’m not, and no code is working. Which one did you use?

    • +2 votes

Just worked for me. It requires eBay Plus if you don't have it.

  • +8 votes

Many don't include the lithium battery, this one does so it's a good deal. Best I could find when I needed a replacement last month was $12.40

A tip: You are not limited to 3 background colours (red/green/blue), you can get more colours by holding Function key and tapping along the base of the touchpad for white, yellow, purple etc. I prefer the white light background. And if you hold F2 when backlight is on and swipe the base of the touchpad, it will enter RGB mode and smoothly change through all the colours. Lots of youtube videos showing how to do this. Not a big deal but I prefer a soft white light background to the distracting bright defaults.

  •

Shit, this is just what I needed. Thanks my man.

  •

These an upgrade over the previous version of these rii kb's or mainly just backlighting?

Also do they have the same prob of random keyboard layout assignment in win10, where its roulette if the keyboard layout matches what's printed on the actual kb.
Had 2 of the prev version both were extra fun trying to find a layout that matches?
No issue on other devices like Android etc but windows had issues with each 1 on multiple machines :(

    • +1 vote

I have this newer version, the keys all match up fine for me on Windows 10 and Windows 7, no special driver installed, so I assume it's been resolved.

I just use my phone with a remote mouse app installed on the PC. Works great

    • +1 vote

      which app is that?

      •

There's a few, but I use WiFi mouse pro and it works fine

  • -1 vote

These are not good. I don't know why anyone would say otherwise

    • +1 vote

      Care to elaborate why?

      • +2 votes

In have a couple of these. They're fine. For this price they're great.

        •

Agreed. Use one for Kodi. Works great. Even searching for movie titles by typing. Mouse and keyboard are obscenely large alternatives. I use this on the couch without issue

      •

you cant really type on them. Maybe a word or so. Its just too finicky imo

For my entertainment pc i just use a wireless mouse and keyboard, or go integrated for the (much more expensive) k400

        •

Yeah I've got a K400r connected to my Android TV. It's good and all but it's bulky (compared to remotes) and this was attractive with the backlights lol. I don't understand why you got negged. Here's an upvote from me for elaborating properly :)

  •

Can you switch off the back light on these?

    • +2 votes

      FarKen good question.

    • +2 votes

Yes. It will be off by default and you press FN F2 to toggle between colours.

Just load up the Kodi app on your phone and …. wait, you don't use Kodi? ;)

You should be able to just plug the usb receiver into the TV, assuming the TV supports USB keyboards.

Have an older version. Can say it’s very sluggish but quite useful for things like building A new pc and you really can’t be bothered unplugging your keyboard and mouse so using this instead.

Is there one of these where the keyboard and mouse is just not sluggish?

    •

Can say it’s very sluggish but quite useful for things like building A new pc and you really can’t be bothered unplugging your keyboard and mouse so using this instead.

That's going to be one of my intended uses. When doing a new install or running diags I really only need to click next or press a few keys most of the time.

  •

Thanks OP. Purchased one and coupon worked. Replaces my previous one which I lost the USB dongle.

    •

USB Bluetooth adaptors are pretty cheap. You most likely have one lying around the house from wireless mice etc
