Lexar 32GB Class 10 MicroSD - £25.94 (~$37) Delivered @ MyMemory UK

720

For those of you who missed out on Amazon's deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61949) on these a little while back - you can pick one up a little cheaper from MyMemory.co.uk

I'm pleased with the performance of my Amazon sourced one - I've seen faster but it is quick enough, especially considering the price. Here is my H2Testw results using the supplied reader -> http://pastie.org/3281272
It now lives in my Asus Transformer giving it a welcome storage boost.

Price is £23.99 + £1.95 Postage = £25.94
With the exchange rate today - this ends up at being just under $37. Use a 28 degrees card or similar to get the best conversion.

  • Postage is extra?

  • anyone got voucher codes? and looks like postage is extra, but not much (1.95 pound)

  • +3

I've updated the post to be more clear - the price I gave in the title includes the £1.95 postage.

  • I paid twice that not so long ago. The card has been great and anyone with a tablet would find the extra storage a blessing.

    • Thanks for the advice, just ordered 2, one for tablet (already 32gb) and one for phone(upgrading 16gb already in there)

      • I wonder how many of these small, light items can ship for just 1.96 Pounds?

Did you save a 2nd hit for Shipping, by buying 2 together?

        • Seems to be flat 1.95GPB no matter how many items.

    • provided ur tablet does support micro sd cards

    • Can tablet & phone get value from the Class 10 speed?

It may be better in a camera
(eg, in an SD CARD adapter),
      ie, for taking videos.

      Can such adapters introduce
      any problems?

      TIA

      • +1

My phone (HTC Desire) transfers data cripplingly slow (about 500KB/s) with any microSD in it, so whenever I need to copy large amounts of data I plug the card into my PC directly. My tablet is much better. Full HD video cameras need a minimum of class 6(?I think), but at this price why not get the fastest you can, chances are that in the future a new device will be able to use it effectively.

Regarding problems with adapters, any plug or connector has the possibility of introducing a problem as it is a mechanical(I think that's the word) process, but is highly unlikely (especially with a brand name product).

        • -1

Full HD video only needs class 4.
I doubt any phone can use class 10, now or in near future, nor would it have any such need.

        • +1

class 4 is the minumum you need, my DSLR has problems with anything less than a class 10 for video recording though. Best to get a higher your class card if you are going to be video recording

        • +1

Use the highest class available/affordable from a reputable manufacturer. Class 4 just won't cut it with many Full HD recordings these days.

The other factor to remember is camera buffer - usually the camera has a small buffer of memory to take photos which then are written out to the (Micro)SD card memory. The faster the camera can write from the buffer to the card, the faster you can start filling the buffer with more photos again.

There's plenty of cameras out there that write video at higher than 4MB/sec.

        • What consumer camera writes video at higher than 4MB/s? Mmm, apart from Canon DSLRs that is…

      • +1

I have done this before - and it works… but I find the big ones to be more robust - especially if you take the card out often (ie, to put in a card reader)

  • crap i got the one from amazon for 46$ this one cheaper

  • already got a 16GB one. now i am looking for a 32G SD for my camcorder…

  • OMG!
I was betting on ebay for 3 weeks for class 10 micro SD to get it under 40 AUD, but price always passed 50 AUD.

This is the deal I was eager for.
Just got one. (39.60 AUD using PayPal, but it still very good)
    Lot of thanks!!!

    • +3

wow… isn't sd cards on ebay unsafe? There are plenty of imitations out there.

      • Just buy from top-sellers and it will be safe.

I "bought" one for 14$ from fraud and had to raise a case to have money back.

        • it's not worth it. my last experience (2 years back) was with a powerseller who has 1k of +ve reviews.

  • Stop making me spend money!!!

Good find. Resisted the Amazon deal. Glad I did.

  • Seems OK, on screen/paper, but do we -know- this supplier?

    • +4

Mymemory deals have been posted here before.

I purchased a 32GB SDHC card in the past. Shipped Down Under in about 10-12 days.

      • Thanks, I may give them a go, then. :-)

    • 2nd shawn_low, I've bought from MyMemory and
they have pretty good rep + OEM cards.

    • +1

They are an authorised supplier, well at least for SanDisk products, i checked and Sandisk list them on their website.
Bought many items from here before, legit.

  • This is definitely not healthy for my wallet.. :( must…buy…deal…

  • So, what's the "promotional item" they say they're including…? :-)

    • Bloody hell, should have just used any card. What was I thinking using pay pal to convert. Conversion using card (westpac, citibank, 28 degrees) = 36.65

      Paypal = 39.80

      • Say, I've had similar disappointments with PayPal exchange rates -vs- what eBay shows for the Au$ price for an item…

Could PayPal be doing something illegal here…? (ie, in eBay purchases)

PS MyMemory didn't seem to have a way to show order amounts in Au$.

        • i dont think so, they show you what rates they use before you commit to the transaction processing - this is not linked to the eBay conversion.

its just a matter of what paypal calculates into their prof- i mean "fees".

    • yes hope the promotional item is a mirco usb cable or something

      that would be handy :D

  • For those buying these for Android phones, if the Lexar one is sold out, the Transcend one (class 4 though) is the same price including shipping as this deal (http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/Transcend/Transcend-32G…). The Class matters when you're transferring from PC to the card but Class 10 or Class 4 doesn't matter once it's in your device.

    • Class 4 cards (especially Sandisk 32 gig class 4 micro), have much better random 4k read/write speeds than class 10 cards - and re Sandisk, any other class 4 on the market (better controller chip). Unless you really need class 10 for transfer speed or for recording 1080p at 60fps, the random speeds are more important.
Click on http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61759 and read my posts. Current exchange rate means Amazon OEM deal will now be about $35 and local Crazysales full retail pack has dropped a further 2 bucks to $37.88 delivered.

  • Its a good deal. I got mine for over 50 last time. Now my phone has a 32gb card. The question now is, should I upgrade the memory card in my tablet from 16gb to 32gb….

    • Depends on which tablet you have. I have the TF101 (First Transformer) which has a dock that supports SDcards. So I bought a 32GB SDCard for ~30. I already had a 16GB microSD card so the tablet now has internal 16 + 16(micro) + 32(sd) = 64GB total. And I can add standard USB storage (1.5TB portable drive the dock is able to power).

If you have the Acer tablet, then you'll have a standard USB slot on the tablet itself. I guess my point is that it depends on which tablet you have because there can be other options to expand your storage than have 2 microSD cards and swapping them around (not a bad option either).

      • I have the original galaxy tab, means I'm stuck with a theoretical maximum of 16+32=48gb

        • Yeah then swapping microsd cards is your best bet. Maybe you can store all your music on one and movies on another or whatever suits you. I'd buy the Lexar card because it's cheap for a 32GB card (can serve me for future devices).

        • Not true - there are now 64gb micro sd cards. Except they seem to be around the $130-150 mark from overseas vendors, such as Amazon UK. Locally they are selling for about $170.

So now I'm torn between buying another 32gb micro sd for my new 7.7 Tablet or waiting a while for 64gb prices to drop to a reasonable level.

        • @atlas 64GB microsd cards are not SDHC which all Android Tablets and Phones support. 64GB cards are SDXC. You might want to make sure your tablet actually supports that. Some custom ROMs and custom kernels support it but you might want to make sure.

  • Good deal! Thanks! :)

I just got one of these cards from amazon yesterday and this was the result when tested with H2testw-

Warning: Only 30522 of 30523 MByte tested.
    Test finished without errors.
    Writing speed: 11.5 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 17.3 MByte/s

  • Sold out

  • They've posted mine already. I'm impressed

  • Missed out! >:(

I just saw my email with this deal, and thought "awesome! it's only $38, i'm going to finally buy a 32gb, and then post on OzBargain"….. FAIL. :(

Anyone here buy more than 1, and generous enough to sell to me?? |:D [wishful thinking]

EDIT: On second thought, maybe i should be buying a Sandisk Class 4 32gb card, after reading Tas's post.

Class 4 cards (especially Sandisk 32 gig class 4 micro), have much better random 4k read/write speeds than class 10 cards - and re Sandisk, any other class 4 on the market (better controller chip). Unless you really need class 10 for transfer speed or for recording 1080p at 60fps, the random speeds are more important.

  • 28 Degrees Mastercard comes to $38.66.Thanks.

    • so combank mastercard was $38.70
and 28 degrees mastercard was $38.66

      thats not much different

i thought 28degrees mastercard has no conversion rate
      so it would be cheaper?

      • Did commbank charge a currency conversion fee as well? I thought the exchange rates were similar, but the 28 degrees card avoided other charges.

  • just got the memory cards!! 10 to Melbourne is quick.

  • Just ordered one this morning -hope it comes in around a week
thanks to senorclean for the post

    • just checked my credit card(28 degree) online converted to $38.18 AUD
(for anyone wanting current conversion rate)

    • Got mine today from U.K (jersey)
so roughly 10 days here too
