  • Hey rep, will you be running a deal on the RLK8-820D4-A as well?

    • +2

Yes, please stay tuned with us :)

  • are these any good? Want cameras for the new house and had been leaning toward Swann

    • +5

Don't lean towards Swann. Lean, or even run, away. ReoLink are streets ahead of Swann.

edit: This sums up a fairly representative experience of Swann https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/626945#comment-10530685

Reolink is the best you can buy at this price.
if U wanna spend $2k+ get hikvision or Dahua.

I've used many different camera systems and most happy with these. (especially for the bang for ur buck factor and ease of installation)

the app is pretty easy to use.

if night vision is of concern ( as mentioned by Deuce) just install external light/sensor lights. u really have to spend mega big bucks to get super clear night vision or a registration at night.

got it last year, i love how wide it can capture. set up is fairly easy, i had to go up the roof to run cables but they're long enough so i didn't have any problem. quality is awesome, night vision is clear aswell, just remember to brush the spider web out, the spiders free estate in the camera at my house.

I have a 7 camera setup with 16 channel NVR from Reolink. 5 are 4mp and 2 are 5mp. Daytime footage is good and clear. Night time is good but only for close distance.

My only annoyance is the motion detection picking up shadow/sun light movement during the day.

Police were happy with the footage when they requested a copy when my neighbours had an attempted break in during the early hours of the morning. Thieves ran past my cameras and triggered them, when up close they could see what they wanted. But they couldn't get vehicle number plate because it was too far.

Happy with mine. My tolerable annoyance is neighbours cat now constantly walks in view, and camera thinks they are human.

        • +1

Lol mine use to trigger with cats. But I changed the motion sensitive to low/medium.

    • Yes, with 4 cameras included, you can install them around your new house, get protected from every corner. If needed, you can add 4 more to complete the whole system. This system supports human/vehicle detection to reduce any false alerts, for example, from the moving leaves, etc.

I wish it was 4k with Person/Vehicle Detection for this price

    • Please stay tuned with us, and we will also post the deal for 4K kits with human/vehicle detection :)

      • Please put in a 4TB or no HDD option for 4k camera , 2TB is just waste as user need to upgrade it sooner than later as only able to record 2-4 days footage

  • I couldn't identify if this works with Google home?

    • The whole system currently cannot work with Google Home, but if you install the camera separately as stand-alone. The camera works with Google Home.

      • So i could buy this kit and run the cameras into a POE switch without the NVR for google integration?

Would I only lose the central management from the NVR interface and recording?

The post above indicates that this would not work

        • Yes, you are right :) If you run the cameras without the NVR, they will work with Google Home. You can also view the cameras via the app on your phone.

  • Will my hikvision PoE cams work plugged into this NVR? So with the 4 existing hiks + 4 Reos they'll all run fine?

    • It's not very recommended to connect third-party cameras to the NVR, since different suppliers use different protocols and there may be some compatibility issues. Iā€™m afraid that some functions might not work properly. To have an optimal user experience, it's still recommended to use Reolink cameras with Reolink NVRs.
