        The TUF-AX3000 model is cheaper?
Would have through AX is better than AC model?

        • Technically AX is a later technology.

Is it better? I don't know whether it makes any practical difference.

The only AX device I have at home is my partner's iphone 12. She claimed that she haven't noticed anything difference since upgrading to AX router.

From the spec though, it should means a higher bandwidth. So it's only noticable if you have large file transfer in your home. That is if you have home server or NAS (maybe?)

But I am quite noob in the actual details of wifi. Others might have better ideas.

@juns: Wi-Fi 6 advantages include having more connected devices simultaneously, wider Wi-Fi coverage, lower latency, less Wi-Fi interference from your neighbours and increased download and upload in particular on Gigabit. Here are speed graphs.

        • Ax3000 is only 2x2 radios (vs 3x3 and 4x4 on this one). Also cpu way better on the 86u for vpn.

I looked at both of these and went the Ac86u when I got one, due to no AX class client devices and the better stream counts for the radios.

          • @davemac: There is more AX devices these days

Also $227.92 on eBay with PEOFY12

    • Good spot!

  • Can I connect it to iprimus nbn system?

    • Asus is compatible with all ISPs.

    • Its a router and will sit after the NBN modem!

      • Ok great. Thanks for help

  • I have two RT-68U routers. If I add this to the system with this being the main modem (ie. downstairs, near the TV, video game systems) and keep the other two as nodes upstairs (in an AIMesh system)… would internet speeds be better closer to the router? Or will everything slow down because the entirety of the system will only be as good as the weakest link?

Eagerly awaiting a good deal on the AX86U variant. But thanks for sharing.

  • Is this router powerful enough for NBN 1000/50 Mbps?
