To be honest I think that tablets are a marketing genius to encourage people to spend more.

To me the OzB in me says buy powder!

You can buy 1kg of 2x concentrate dishwashing powder at Aldi which gives you around 50 washes for $3.69. Why does anybody spend obscene money to wash dishes with tablets when the powder does a good job?

22c per tab is a decent price.

Why do people buy pre packaged salad vs raw vegetables? It's just easier. Tablets have done the measuring for you.

We use powder at home, but have used tablets in the past.

      • It is a decent price for these tablets yes I am not negging the deal or anything, I'm just astonished with powder being 6-7c a wash people are happy to pay 3-4 times as much when the tablets are on special. I'm young and I remember powder being the only option at supermarkets and now its like all tablets with a couple of powder options.

Does the 6-7c figure include rinse aid? I've experimented with and without rinse aid and it seems to make a big difference to drying and residue on dry things, particularly with glass and plastic.

          • @Shoocat: Good point the problem with tablets is the inbuilt rinse aid may not last to the rinse cycle - where when you use rinse aid in the proper rinse aid dispenser it guarantees it is used at the correct part of the cycle. Iā€™m lazy and my dishwasher has dry an extra 15 minutes mode which I do during the day with free solar energy from panels.

          • @Shoocat: You can use brown vinegar as a rinse aid. It breaks the surface tension of the water and allows it to dry quickly. And it's cheap as hell.

Not every suburb has Aldi besides it is their money and they can do whatever they want with their money.

      • Yep well Woolwoths has Shine (home brand) and Coles has their own, slightly more then Aldi at like $3.90.

I use the Coles tablets at around 15c each , IMO see no difference in cleaning quality compared to any of the finish tablets. Might give the powder a go but.

If you use LatitudePay for your first order, you'll get a further $20 off. Which will make it 17c per tablet if you don't have Club Catch (or 14c per tablet with Club Catch).

I just paid $42.95 for this delivered.
