Atari more expensive than a PS5. Why? It's Vega 3…

There must be a gas leak at Atari HQ

    Lol @ 100 free classic games…

    Hmmm… this or a retro pie…

I guess it is semi-upgradable… jam some more ram in it and a 1tb SSD… seems hella expensive though for what it is and what it offers…

  •

    -$849?!

Thats a steal, how valuable do they think my information is if they're paying me $800+ for the console

  •

    Snoopy and the red baron!

  •

This console will last about as long as an Atari 2600 joystick

  •

Make sure you read the reviews as it is way under powered. Better off getting a RP4 and RetroPi and a few controllers.

Chances of it going down like a lead balloon post launch?… 📈

Poor Atari, someone swapped the "P" and "O" keys on their keyboard with the "V" and "C" keys

    So the basic specs

14nm AMD R1606G Zen processor with 2 cores and 4 threads @ 2.6 GHz (up to 3.5 GHz)
    IO ports
HDMI output, four 3.1 USB ports, and an Ethernet cable port for wired internet access
runs a custom Ubuntu distribution (Linux) out of the box

and either 4GB or 8GB of RAM with 32GB SSD, and an open M.2 slot (SATA interface only) for storage upgrades.

This is first gen ryzen architecture on 14nm so not exactly a beast when it comes to single thread perf.

There's a teardown on Gamers Nexus if you want to know the innards of the computer and Steve talks about upgrades (spoiler: there's 2 DIMM slots, and by default it ships with 2x4GB sticks of 1.2v memory clocked at 2666mhz)]

So you're practically just paying for an overpriced budget build?

      •

You're paying for the Atari aesthetics and license to play the Atari classics

The hardware is already outdated (specs are 2019-ish) so yeah, you are paying for nostalgia

Paying for the brand, not the hardware.

play yesterdays games on yesterdays hardware for today's prices

    •

More like tomorrow's price, not even next gen consoles cost this much

This will get discounted A LOT very QUICK

    •

Sure will as soon as the Atari fanboys have been relieved of their cash the sales will take a nose dive as will the price.

Gives off Ouya vibes to me … (not good)
