    same at Amazon (already posted)

Do you mean this post for $100 more? Isn't that a different model?

Better off getting any gumtree 2nd laptop imo

    • True, these netbooks can be very very weak with hardly any storage.

  • It can play movies to keep your kids entertained I guess, but you don't need to spend $199 to achieve it

Apart from that, very limited uses - storage is already almost full when you get it which isn't going to help an already slow processor

    Do people even use chromebooks?

    • Great for kids / poor students. I'd spend more for one without the nasty screen myself.

Good to use as a brick I guess

The usual dismissive comments above from people unfamiliar with what a Chromebook is. :-(
Think of it as a Thin Terminal that runs Chrome, and your data is in the cloud.
You can use Microsoft Office, or Google's suite. It is NOT for games or bitcoin mining.

These things don't use local storage much, and are not resource hogs like Windows 10.
32GB is OK if you are not installing Android apps.
If you do intend using Android, look at the $299 model with 64GB storage and a touch-screen

    • Yeah I really don't want one but you have to have realistic expectations for $200 lol

    • I am still dreaming of the day when the Chromebook Duet goes sub-$300…

  • It's the perfect price for a baby laptop.

So much ignorance about with these things.

    People do indeed use chromebooks.

Their batteries last all day long, you open them up to use them, shut the lid when you are done, overall simple to use, require next to no IT attention, and have supported updates every few weeks until 2026. Years without the need for an on call IT person.

And if that wasn't enough, look at the beautiful lowercase keyboard. lowercase. relax.

Exactly. Some of the people here on Ozbargain have no perspective and live inside their own bubble when it comes to computing.
"I have a mid-top tier GPU and play AAA games, so that's what I recommend everyone to get! If this screen is not something I'd use, I'd never recommend this to anyone!"
So ignorant it makes me mad.

  • Is this a touchscreen?
