  • This or s5 max

      Sounds like it's pretty close between the two.
      S5 max for ease of use and reliability
      Viomi S9 for features and on paper performance.

      Apple = Roborock
      Android = Viomi

      Choose your poison

      Viomi V3 has really poor deep carpet cleaning compared to S5 Max due to brush designs. My concern is S9 looks similar to V3 except for the auto dump. If I had no carpet I'd go with S9 for sure.

      • dont have either but problem with v3 was the bottom brush that was fixed. S9 has a floating one

        • In that case I'll give it a go. Hopefully the design change translates to real world results.

          • @nfr: I have no carpets so don't really care =) will be better than Gen1 I have for sure

    • worth noting the s5 max does not come with an auto empty station/dock which could be useful (not having to empty out the vacuum after every run)

      • i empty mine once a week. emptying everyday is probably overkill.

    Received my unit on Monday and very impressed with it so far. I can't comment on the Roborock S5 max comparison as I came from a Samsung Powerbot VR9000 (dumb unit, no wifi) which was great until the battery decided to only lasted a few minutes and a new one is $300. I wasn't too fussed on the auto empty but now glad I got it so I don't have to worry about emptying all the time. The mopping has been fantastic. While it won't clean stubborn stains, works a treat on grime on tiles. I have three young kids and they do tend to make a mess. It does look like the floor has been mopped.

    The App functions well (slightly sluggish) and the mapping worked first go after a full clean. I was able to merge zones and seperate others easily.

    I wasn't able to get the Mi Home app to sync with Google initially. I tried an older phone and google still didn't detect any devices, but today I found the vacuum at the bottom of the Google home app device listing, so I added it to the home and assigned to a room. It didn't work asking google to clean the hallway (a zone I created) but did work when asked to vacuum, so will investigate further on using voice to clean specific zones.

    I haven't tried on carpet yet as our house has tiles throughout besides the bedrooms (we have a miele C3 for the full carpet cleaning).

    Fantastic unit for the price. Both the wife and I are really happy with it.

    • Update - the disposable pads aren't great. They leave streaks on the floor using water level 3. I'll be buying some spare microfiber pads from aliexpress as it left the floor looking like it was mopped properly.
