"As a special thank you for being a valued Skype customer, we’d like to give you a Plantronics headset worth $28.99. It’s just our small way of saying thanks a lot and all you’ll need to pay is $4.99 for shipping."

Yeah lol, it actually turns out better this way because you get a head set, $10 credit and free delivery for $10 so its a win-win situation :P

        • What can I do with the $10 credit?

And do we get a refund?
I interested in the $10 deal but I need my $5 refunded first so I got a total of 11 on my prepaid card.

        • Correct me if i am wrong!!
Didn't you already pay for shipping?

    • The code only works 1 time, so no issue after you use the code.

  • I got the same email :)

Works out almost as good as before…

    • +1

Works out better, think of it as a free headset with delivery that is worth $30 just for buying $10 skype credit..

  • +1

Got the email, too. I was actually looking at buying some Skype credit for making international calls. So this works out to be a very decent deal!

  • Out of curiosity, will they refund the $4.99 or not? I haven't received any credit notice from paypal yet.

Hopefully it won't end up costing $14.98 :/

    EDIT:

I'm getting an error while checking out. " The total of the cart item amounts don't match the order amount." :(

    • I've got that error to, I've reported it to their support team already.

I'm sure they will process the refund, give them some time.

      • With so many OzBargainers buying nothing - it will take some time!

  • Good deal! Got me $10 skype credit and the headset, free delivery.

  • I just paid via credit card, total was $10..

Your getting the error is because the website shows you $9.99 AUD but its actually trying to charge you $10 AUD..

  • +1

I don't see an issue with a refund, as "order is void and has been cancelled".
Otherwise will request refund from Paypal.

Just in case, I used the refund form: http://au.chatandvision.com/myaccount/ws_rma
Restated their email, asked for refund, & pointed out there was no reference to a refund.

Got the payment problem with PayPal - just used a Credit Card & was OK.
As stated above, it is trying to charge $10 (shown on my chatandvision account) but the charge on the order is $9.99. So it refuses.
Each time it refused to place the order, it raised a new order number & "Order Payment Failed" on my account. There are so many cancelled orders.

The promo code can only be used once. I tried entering it again & it said INVALID! (re-click on the link in the email - it won't give another discount) & order is only for 1. I originally made a second order (1 for home, 1 for travel), so got a second promo code.

So this posted original deal never had a chance as the promo code had already been used by the OP. Nice of chatandvision to give OzBargainers a second chance.

I still have some credit left from my last few Skype minutes deals.
Good to get the Skype credit with the new order confirmation email.

So ended up with FREE headset, $4.93 shipping & us$10 Skype credit for $5.07.
    A good deal after all!

  • I am sure refund will be processed according to the email sent out.
Give them a day or 2 as they must be busy with all these 'strange' orders and trying to offer alternative offers for us.
With more emails we are bombarding them with, it probably takes them more time to service these requests than having actual resources to process refunds.

    • That was why I pointed out to them the lack of details about a refund - so they could send an email to us about what happens with the refund. As you say, dealing with individual refund requests will tie up their resources.
I'd say cancelling an order will trigger automatic refunds.

  • I've asked for a REFUND. Once I get it, I'll just buy the $10 deal. Better than before.

  • Lucky me, gambling my $5 then get this better deal… thanks a lot OP and ChatVision

  • Just recieved this email from them

    • Best to remove your link as someone is bound to try to use it & complain it doesn't work. (Only works once)

  • The new deal is good, I ordered it. Hope the refund for the other one comes through quickly enough.

      BE CAREFUL!

I tried to buy it using the promotion code. The invoice said 9.99 after the promotion was applied but the confirmation email they sent stated $37.85. Confirmed with credit card company that they had charged that amount to the card instead of $9.99. Sent an email asking them to reverse the extra amount of cancel the transaction.

      L

      • if u used the link the alspa posted above, its possible someone used the code before u completed ur order…

because the promo code is valid for one use

        • +1

I used the code I received in an email. The invoice said 9.99 where I entered the card details but they have charged 37.85

      • Absolutely - if you used someone else's used code - it is no deal.

It was MY email and MY code

      • Did you order more than once? Your code can only be used once.
I just tried the link in my other email - code gave correct discount.
My confirmation emails show 'unit price $37.85' 'grand total 10.00'
Strange that your order was for $10, but charged the full price!!!! Worrying.
Otherwise they should be able to correct their system's error.

        • I saw that come up on mine once.
It happened after repeated attempts at trying to get paypal to work.

      • Nope, paid thru Paypal with no hassles and charged $9.99

        • Did a dry run through paypal after the initial transaction. It correctly said 9.99. Maybe a one time error

        • Good - they must have fixed last night's issue with PayPal refusing order as it was 9.99 but billed at $10. We needed to use a credit card.

        • same here. PayPal receipt confirms $9.99, as does my online PayPal statement.

  • Someone has posted the email they got as a NEW DEAL - even though the code can only be used once!! http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/63109
    Here we go again!!!

  • Tried again today, it worked. Used paypal, looks like they fixed the pricing issue.

    • no, it said $9.99 with my code at chatandvision, but they still tried to charge me "Total $37.85 AUD" once I got to paypal. Obviously I didn't press 'continue'.

  • How long will refund take to process?

  • Scored 2 x $10 Skype vouchers from the $9.99 headset + voucher deal. WIN!

    • I thought the deal was $10 skype credit and the headset for $9.99?

    • +1

Same here mate, got $20 worth of skype voucher plus headset for $9.99

      Nice….

      • theguyrules & cuek - any idea how i can score $20 instead of $10 credit, like you guys did?
did you guys pay by paypal or credit card..

        • what happened is that they sent me a code, I used it, then they sent me a random email saying that the first one they sent me was invalid, and sent me a new one.
So I used that one too.
          Sweet!

  • I have never used Skype Credit before. Can you help with these questions?

    1. Is the code transferable or is it tied to my Skype ID?

    2. Does the coupon code have an expiry date?

    3. Once I activated my coupon code on Skype, does the Skype Credit have an expiry date?

    4. The credit is used to call mobile and landline anywhere in the world, am I right?

    • +1

I haven't added this credit yet, but from previous Skype promos…
1 usually told that it is tied to Skype name you gave on the order, but try…
2 from order confirmation email, "All Skype Credit purchased must be redeemed before 30th June 2012"
3 sort of, at least if you do not use Skype Credit in 6 months - when that date approaches you will get numerous reminders to make a call/SMS or Skype Credit can be reinstated later. I called my home landline & hung up after answering - cost 10c. (I use it only when travelling overseas, and often get free Skype credit when I book accommodation online. Will also use the headset on my travels.)
"You don't seem to have used any of your Skype Credit in a while. It becomes inactive if you haven't used it in 180 days. But don't worry - once it becomes inactive, you can reactivate it whenever you're ready to use it. Simply sign into your account online and follow the option to Reactivate credit."
4 yes, just like bought credit, used to call mobile and landline anywhere in the world.

    Dear Visitors,

on behalf of chatandvision we like to thank you for taking part in our initial promotion.

As it has been pointed out, attempts were made to purchase without a valid promotion code. All affected clients have been informed that these orders are void and have been cancelled.

We received hundreds of such orders and thank you for your support and trust in chatandvison.

Refunding these orders is a very manual process and we are working around the clock to complete each and every order affected. We do estimate to have this completed within 2 - 3 business days. If you have sent us an email query regarding this, kindly allow us to respond within 48 hours as individual cases may be reviewed.

Your patience is greatly appreciated - please feel free to contact us anytime.

    • Thanks for the feedback.
Some were worried about the refunds.
      Thanks for a great deal.
We love bargains on OzBargain, so feel free to offer us more in the future.

I am having problems getting the replacement offer.
I tried last night on my mobile, but Paypal rejected as the cart amount didn't match the billing amount.

Now when I try, Paypal tries to charge the full $38 (or so), and when I go back it comes up with code invalid.

    • It thinks you have used the code. Try again - problem was reported above, but worked afterwards. Check your account on chatandvision (detail on your original order confirmation). Contact chatandvision - should be able to help.

      • NO, same here, initiallyed showed 9.99 withing chatandvision, but got changed to $37.85 when I tried to pay on paypal. On my pc, not a mobile (in case that made any difference)

        Hopeless.

  • More drama…now. I had placed my order on the first post without the code as per the offer which got cancelled on Monday email from ChatnVision stating due to no code. This email gave a new code which i could use for this new offer @$9.99. I tried many times during Monday night but it was not accepting the code. By yesterday morning it was fixed so I placed the second order while awaiting my refund on first order ( I accept it may take few days). Late yesterday after I get this email regarding my second order which i placed earlier in the day "Unfortunately, the promoted $10 Skype Credit code in the email was invalid. Please find below your correct and fully functional code to enjoy the offer:" I was given a new code this time again to place another order (3rd one) which I tried stupidly only to find out that it will not accept the newer code again. It seems ChatnVision are never online on skype and forcing us to write. They can us emails with new codes but not reply to us on this mess…Hellelujah..pls help…I hope this company is not another Titanic.

    • Oh Lord Kumbaya….I think my call reached heaven …just received an email in last two hours saying that my 2nd order has been shipped. Keeping my legs crossed and hope it reaches me.

  • I double-checked the amount to pay was definitely $9.99 prior to payment (as I had read about the issue here), and still got mistakenly charged $37.85. :(

    Bit annoying…

  • Everything worked OK. Order has been shipped… yippee!
"I wish to confirm that we have shipped your order (xxxxxx), and it should be expected to arrive within the next 21 working days."
    Just waiting on the refunds.

    • And got my refund via PayPal & back on my credit card!

  • Give them time for the refunds to happen. I'm sure they are aware.

  • Refunded, and my headset has shipped. Ended up being a damn good deal :D

    • Haven't got my refund yet(prepaid credit card).

      • What I mean is, its shown up in PayPal you're awesome.

    Dear Visitors,

on behalf of chatandvision I am updating you on the current status of affected refunds.

We did manage to finalize 90% of orders and the refund will be visible on your corresponding accounts shortly. In general, PayPal and moneybookers refunds are the fastest as those are instant. Direct credit card refunds may take longer, depending on the associated bank.

We like to thank each and every of participating clients for their understanding and patience.

  • I order through the mail i got which stated Plantronics C120-M USB Stereo Headset (Black) + $10 Skype Credit for only AUD9.99. Now they have charged $37.85 on the card. Did they get back to anyone who has been in this situation.

  • I never used Skype.
So what does the $10 credit do exactly?

Do I get a mobile number from Skype and I used the credit to call people?

    Can I use SMS?

I want to buy a prepaid reloadable credit card from Auspost but it needs a mobile number with SMS(for pin).
Can I use the skype number to recieve the pin SMS?

  • Its arrived in Brissie! That was a quick 21 days! 7days after order from HK.
Loaded straight away in my old XP Pro.
Good enough sound for VOIP calls.
From the start of this deal I always said it was a good deal - & confirmed. (luckily)

    • I just placed an order for another 1 as had spare code…
      C&V Order screen Total: $9.99
Paypal amount $37.85!! Did not order.
C&V account shows cancelled order: $37.85

      Ordered by 28Degrees Mastercard
CC amount - not shown but ordered.
      C&V account shows amount: $9.99 - great!

So PayPal setup is stuffed on this deal.
But deal has not expired for those with the code!!!

      THANKS AGAIN OP!!!

Got mine also. Looks decent for $10

    • How long did it take once they shipped it?

      • +1

7 days from order for me.

        • Same here.

        • I ordered another on the 14th, arrived today - 7 days later.

  • I got it today, works great. However I have not received the skype credit in my accouct :(

    • +1

Check your email from them, they sent you a voucher code which you need claim on skype.

      • Its on the order confirmation email, not the shipping email - towards the bottom with the order description:

1 Plantronics C120-M USB Stereo Headset (Black) + $10 Skype Credit
Your unique Skype Voucher Code: <code & link>

  • I received my headset via Hong Kong Parcel Post today. Being a regular parcel service, the postman simply dumped it on the foot step. Luckily it wasn't raining in Sydney this morning.

The custom declaration values the headset at US$2, and I totally agree with this valuation. No way is this headset worth $29.

    • Light weight all plastic construction with two filmsy foam earpads (cannot see a way to replace them yet)
    • Non-adjustable earpad angles
    • Terrible microphonics (wear the headset, touch it, and hear noises)
    • Hard to adjust headband length (due to plastic-on-plastic friction)
    • No padding on the headband, uncomfortable — hard plastic sitting on the head

Plantronics should be ashamed of the low quality of this product, and I cannot find any mention of it on Plantronics' web site.

    • I could understand your complaint if you paid the full price. Valid points. Are you going to fit new earpads when these wear out - hardly seems worthwhile.

But this deal was a headset plus us$10 Skype Credit for $9.99 incl postage.
Many Skype users pay that much just for the Skype credit.

The original deal was a Skype promotion aimed at Skype users for phone calls. I'll be using mine on travels os for making Skype calls. The headset probably will get left behind - no loss as it was basically free & I bought a spare one mainly for the credit.

As for the courier dumping it on your doorstep - both mine got the same treatment. But so did 13 bottles of Virgin Wine, which someone took to celebrate Christmas - & they cost over 10 times more than this! You can't expect registered delivery at this price. As it was in plastic inside a taped up box, it would have had to be major rain or being left in a puddle to affect the unit.

As for it not being listed on their website, that was pointed out before you purchased. Its usually a hint that this is not a premium product. Its a cheapie for almost no cost.

      • As for declared value for customs, the email explained that there would be no refund, as the value of the Skype Credit provided would be first deducted. This was originally offered as a free headset, just pay postage. So the declared value should be $0, but customs would rather see a value without an explanation. So a nominal value of us$2 was entered. Pretty normal to over-value parcels from China by what I have seen. An $8 (incl shipping) product from China today was over-valued at au$10 for customs.

      • As it was in plastic inside a taped up box, it would have had to be major rain or being left in a puddle to affect the unit.

You probably haven't heard in Qld Bruce, Sydney was deluged four days in a row resulting in several incidents of major localised flooding.

I am not complaining about the deal… it is better than paying the normal price. I am simply disappointed at the low quality of the product, one bearing the "premium" Plantronics name, and so I wrote this little review to share with future potential buyers. I could find no review of the C120-M on the web other than product introductions.

One more bad point about this headset. The earpads on a normal headphone is flat or slightly concave. They sit on the circumference of your ears. The earpads on this headset is convex. They clamp onto the inner surfaces of your ears like a stethoscope. This gives a better transfer of sound but it starts to hurt after 15 minutes.

        • LOL We don't get rain up here. Still areas smell of recent flood waters & my garden is squelchy. News does cover Sydney events up here, whether we want it or not. :-)

But courier deliveries is a local issue, not really seller responsibility at this price. It is a rare parcel that is not dumped on my exposed doorstep. I had a case of wine knocked off because Aust Post dumped it at my door while out. The law regarding deliveries of alcohol are clear - ID MUST be produced, it can not be left for minors to access. But the law & delivery instructions requiring a signature didn't mean a thing to Aust Post. (Other couriers have been much better, including SMS message that wine was delivered, accepted, & signed for at my home.) They might as well have left a sign saying please steal this, as Virgin Wines cover their boxes with great big red signs saying wine. I eventually got refund, but missed out on that deal. So it is a issue with Aust Post.

Yes - cheap design with basic convex foam cover. Won't last long. My guess is this product is listed at full price just to make the free offer attractive. I can't see anyone buying at full price! But good enough in my opinion for intended purpose - basic entry level headset for Skype phone calls.

  • +1

did anyone else apply the skype voucher and only get around $8.90 credit? (is that due to the dollar?)

    • Possibly. If so, that's a bad exchange rate - values aud at us$1.12.
us$10 = au$9.28 at the moment. When did you redeem the code?
I'll redeem when the aud drops a bit.

      • last night..pretty bad i thought it would be a flat 10$ credited! but can't really complain for the price i paid for it.

        • Exchange rates - sometimes you lose… but its not that bad.
Credit was in us$ even though we paid in au$.

from original order for this deal…

"When redeemed, the voucher code which you have been provided will add $10 USD of Skype Credit to your account. For Skype accounts maintained in currencies other than US Dollars, the $10 USD credit will be converted into your respective currency. Conversion rates can be found in the currency section of My Account in the Skype Client or on Skype.com. Please note, vouchers for Skype Credit will be sent upon confirmation, any refunds will only be applicable for the headset."

          Checked Skype currency exchange: us$1.00 = AU$0.97,
          BUT,
"Skype uses an exchange rate similar to major credit cards and this may involve a small fee. To avoid this fee, first spend your existing Skype Credit balance and then change your currency before buying more credit."
Seems like that fee was about 80 cents!!
          (us$10 = au$9.70 - $0.80fee = $8.90)

I think l'll use my existing meagre credit, then change currency to usd, before adding this credit - as this & all free Skype Credit offers are in us$. (I have only used free credit with Skype.)

    • Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realise Skype charged a fee to convert.

  • I got mine to day.

Not bad, sound is quite good.
