$60 off $300 purchase if using amex at Sony.

    • +1

Just placed an order with Sony using this offer, and received confirmation from Amex with $60 back.

  • +16

What is the deal/bargain? Prices are the same across all preorders as you mentioned.

    • The rrp on these is going to be 449.95 after they are released.

      • +13

The RRP is a cynical manipulation of a cognitive bias that works by establishing what's called an "anchoring effect" on prospective buyers. Effectively it's there to influence dopey consumers into believing a deal exists when there is none.

        • +3

          Thank you.

        • +2

Is this how ozbargain works ?

    • Idk. Helped find sites that provide free shipping and the amex offer?
I thought there was a rule that you can post when new items are released though.

  • +3

First reviews look promising although Sony seems to struggle not to make these things bulky.

    • Probably because of the battery.

    • That's my only gripe with the XM3s.

After a few hours regardless of rotation they begin to hurt my ears.

And I typically use them for buses/trains/planes where is hours of travel.

      • +1

Yeah, they're a hit or miss. Luckily for me, I wear mine almost all the time without any discomfort.

  • Wow what a price! From verge review, it is highly praise but the microphones are definitely disappointing.

  • $25 off with latitudepay @JB Hifi. Just tested and it works with preorder. I'm tempted to replace my wf1000xm3, wondering if I should wait until black friday or just buy now.

  • +13

    $199 next year

  • +1

Tempting too try them for 2 weeks 👍😁

    • +1

IN THE CASE OF PRE-ORDERS, 14 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF SHIPMENT). OFFER ENDS 12/09/21.

      • Your keyboard broke.

        • Copy and paste from sorry website. Apologies

  • +3

I have the XM3s and could never find a decent fit, a common issue from my research, fantastic sound quality for these kind of ear buds though. Tempted to buy but from Sony direct for their refund policy.

Edit: Actually read the refund promo and as long as you buy from:
“Participating Sony Australia Authorised Dealer” means JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Amazon, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Sony Store (Castle Hill, Chatswood, Parramatta), Sony Online, Officeworks, WHSmith or Tech2Go
You get the refund from Sony.

    • Yup, they were way too chonky.

    • +1

How bloody hard could it be to integrate a ‘fin’ design like the Soundpeats truefree. Easy and secure fit every time. Unlike my xm3 which I spent a further $50 on after market tips that reddit and ozbargain suggested would fix the problem but were marginally better, at best than any of the stock offerings.

  • 389 for a pair of buds is a bit much … I'll wait… they'll come down … there's alot of room

  • +3

was looking forward to these…but no multipoint is kinda a deal breaker for me

  • +1

The mx4 is much improved than mx3 in a lot of usability aspects. A lot smaller (both the earbuds and the case), much better fit (though still rooms to improve), improves eartips, and water resistant-ish.

I would wait for the price to drop further and get onto it.

  • +1

The biggest let down on the xm3's were the mic, shame that's still the case with these xm4's based on reviews I've seen. Gonna stick with the airpod pros.

  • I'll wait for eBay Titan Gear specials.

  • +1

Ordered mine from Sony with amex offer: 329$

    • -1

How did you do it? Sony store has it for 449

      • I just checked the Sony link and it's coming up as $389

        • Ppl please read , it's using Sony Amex offer !

          • @demoiree: It was 449 at Sony website before using Amex offer while I was checking in the morning. Now the price is 389.95. Not sure what’s going on.

  • I just hope the new version of this has better call quality / microphone than the XM3 which was truly horrible to use in all calls unless you are in a totally quiet room with no other noise. It would be my main reason for upgrading..

  • Prob would wait till price come down and also see if any issues getting ironed out. Meanwhile my Jabra 75t active will do the service for near 1/2 price.

  • Wow 3 times the price of the xm3 refurbs!

  • -1

I got Jabra elite 75t. Are these worth the upgrade ?

  • +2

Linus says the ANC on these is better than anything else in the category.

  • -1

Tempting, but what to do with the xm3?

    • They go on eBay for about $120 I think.

  • -1

No deal here - they're likely always going to be available below RRP

    • I'm guessing $330 on ebay in few weeks after launch, then $280, $250 and $200 before xm5 comes out.

  • Can you apply codes to any of the
    pre-order prices?

  • FYI: I finally bought the XM3s last Christmas, was so looking forward to them.
    1) the max volume is really quite low compared to most others.
    2) the actual sound, while pretty accurate, isn’t as full-bodied as even the Jabra Elite 75s.
    3) the large size didn’t bother me in terms of comfort, but found that one (or both of them), would gradually fall out whilst walking. Let alone exercise.

Had to return them within a few days. The fit is always going to depend on the person, and hopefully the redesign helps with the XM4s. But, as an audiophile, I’m perplexed at why the Sony’s have this amazing reputation in terms of the sound.
And, if you like to pump your music up, these ain’t it.

    • +1

As someone who tried the XM3's and ended up purchasing a set of Sony SP800N's I completely agree.

I feel as if the XM3's were too bulky, and none of the tips I tried really fit my ear in the same way my SP800N's do. Looking at the new reviews on the XM4s I feel they borrowed a lot of the SP800N design, I just wish my case was able to be charged wirelessly rather than with a pathetic added 0.5m cable

  • Don't know why you even listed this, it's not a deal!!

    • -3

Agreed - this is OzBargain - not OzListAnyNewProductOnPreorder.

        • That's indeed weird - but technically also not bargains at all so I stand by what I said.

I'll take my downvotes no problem but fact is that I am stating the truth here. Sorry if it offends anyone. I come on this site daily to track discounts and bargains, not to pay full price. That is not what this site is for.

Again sorry to offend the negative voter, but just stating facts. Might also add I did NOT downvote the post although that's far more appropriate than me stating what is essentially the truth.

          • @Ramrunner: if you read the post and not just the title, you’ll see the preorder price is 389, the rrp is 449.95.

            • @TheRealCJ: The RRP is ALWAYS higher at the manufacturer online store, hence why this is not a deal.

              • +4

@LoveAgreatDeal: Oh I’m sorry, I thought this was ozbargain, not ozspeculateonpotentialfuturediscounts.

Also if you look, the price is also discounted at the Sony direct store, so…

                • +2

@TheRealCJ: Had to give you an up vote for your ozspeculateonpotentialdiscounts comment. Brilliant. Gave me a good laugh.

                • +1

@TheRealCJ: Feel free to make a site called 'OZ preorder' and upload your non bargain priced product to that hahaha

Has anyone actually managed to get their order fulfilled? I called Sony, they've pushed my fulfillment date back to August 2nd!

I was originally scheduled for this month, on the 12th. No communication from them.

    • +2

Has not shipped yet, ordered approx 14th of june

      • +4

        Mine hasn’t shipped yet either.
I contacted their support and they have advised:

“Due to the COVID restrictions in our manufacturing plants, there has been a delay in shipping the stocks to Australia. I do apologise for this and I hope you understand how difficult the situation is currently with this pandemic.

As of the moment, the estimated date of arrival in our warehouse is on the 2nd week of August however if there will be any changes in between. I will personally make sure that I will be contacting you as soon as possible.”

  • +2

Finally got an email from Sony.
Silver are arriving in Australia 26 July, black 2nd August.
Our for delivery 1 week after they arrive in Australia.

    • Good to know
