@andylch: Check the savings tab under the Amex Offers section of your Amex account tomorrow. The offer usually shows up here as 'redeemed' before the credit is received.

        • Thanks

  • Thinking of getting DJ platinum card. Is this better than amex platinum?

    • +1

      Dj Black will suffice

  • +2

Plat edge. Not in app but received email link. Clicked in and now shows up in app saved offers

    • Exact same thing happened to me

    • Same for me. I thought that the offer had run out when I could not see it on my App so lucky I clicked on the actual link in the offer email. If you are in the same position, make sure you click on the email link ASAP.

  • +2

Offer is now showing redeemed in the app after buying a gift card.

    • You bought an e-giftcard?

      • +3

Yes an e-gift card. Emailed to myself and redeemed within 10 minutes of ordering.

No actually cash back on the account (as to be expected yet) but the offer has moved from 'my offers' to 'recently redeemed'.

I didn't receive an email to say 'thank you for saving offer' or 'congrats on using your offer' as i quite often do.

        • +2

$20 credit has also now come through on the amex card.

    • What sort of gift card did you get?

  • I activated this offer, then bought something worth $135 from amazon.com.au, sold by Amazon US. I didn't receive the usual email saying I will receive the $20 credit that I normally get these amex credit deals.

Checked my amex statement, the charge is from AMAZON MARKETPLACE AU as opposed to the usual AMAZON.COM.AU that appears for purchases from Amazon AU. I'm guessing this means that the statement credit doesn't work for international products on Amazon… Just thought I would warn people…

    • It should work, just wait the 5 days first

    • I think you’ll be fine, I made three transactions yesterday they were all prime AU products, they were all charged as AMAZON MARKETPLACE AU after pending as AMAZON AU

  • +2

Don't forget the Placie has $20 referral as well…….

  • +3

Got an email from AMEX within 1 hr saying cash back had tracked for my $100 gift card purchase.

  • +3

Can also confirm that buying a $100 egift works and will trigger the amex offer.

  • +1

Weird i got the email, clicked saved to card - this morning but until now i cant see it under saved offer section on amex website or android app.

    • ah finally it is there now…

      • Mine not showing after 3 days.
But I tried click save offer then it said I have already saved this offer.
        So strange.

  • +1

Yea all good with egift. Got the amex email straight away.

            • +1

@zubzero: In the Amex Offers section there are 3 tabs - Available, Saved to Card and Savings. The Savings tab displays the total at the top before itemising individual offer savings.

  • so because we can do in multiple transactions, i guess once we hit $100 spending we will get the email confirmation ? hmm spent $50 already maybe just get $50 egiftcard to finish this asap.

    • yep

Can confirm that purchasing an AU$100 Amazon gift card immediately triggered the Amex email to me saying that I made the qualified purchase so I expect to see $20 credit against my Amex card soon.
With regards to the AU$100 Amazon gift card, I also got the email for it and immediately applied the AU$100 credit to my Amazon account via a button click from within the email. Don't click on it if you intend to gift it to someone else though.

  • Seems that Amazon now need to seek manual authorisation for gift card orders? Mine didn't come through immediately like it always has before.

Edit: I think it was bc the card was added as a "new" card. Got the gift card >30min later, not within 5min as stated.

    • +2

New card will be verified/checked to avoid fraud.

      • Makes sense. Thanks for the update!

    • Still waiting for mine to be sent to me even though I used the same Amex that's been used for all my past Amazon orders …

Edit: Came through and got the qualifying e-mail

  • +6

Purchased $100 egift card a few hours ago and got "Thank you for using your Amazon Amex Offer" email.

  • Interesting. The offer isn't visible when I log into americanexpress.com, but I got the email. Clicking on the email link made the offer appear in my "Saved Offers"

    • Aquavires thanks for posting this. One of my Primaries had this listed in offers but the other did not so I did not look further. I assumed that the email I received was referring to that card. But looking at your post I saw that the email was actually referring to my other primary so now I have another 20% off. Again thank you and thanks OP.

  • Primary cardholder got it, not secondary. Thanks OP.

  • Bought the $100 gift card but forgot to saved this offer to my Amex card. Does that mean I wont get the $20 credit?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • Amazon allows you to return/refund gift cards by contacting customer service as long as it is not redeemed.

  • Got the 20 already. That fast?

  • ref Placie Rewards. do you add the refer code to the trip to get $20 and then pay with amex to get $20 statement credit? ie $40 trip = $0 ? can you use the sign up $20 credit for a trip under $20?

  • re: placie, for sydney people so we can pay our sydney train with this (linked to amex) instead of opal ? and once we hit $20 we will get $20 back from amex?

    • just tried, u can't pay public transport with it yet.

      • i see. so just sharing thingies…. ok i pass

  • Just spent $54 (discounted from $73) on Amex - now need to find something else to buy to make up $100 in the next 6 days…

    • Why not just buy gift card and no need to worry for the next 6 days

      • True… but I like it when the postie brings presents… so a new gadget would be better :)

  • Placie was awesome at helping me sort out incorrect charge on a previous card I had stored. Dunno why you can't manage your cards in the account but something to be mindful of if you've used Placie before without Amex.
