Acer Aspire S3 13.3" Core i3 Ultrabook for $699 Delivered w/ Free Laser Printer

380
$100off

UPDATE 8-Feb-2012: Since I originally posted this, Online Computer Store has graciously extended this special by posting a special coupon code "$100off" below and if you add "ozbargain S3" to the order comments they'll also include a FREE white and pink Fuji Xerox laser printer - please see OLC's comments below. I now wish I'd ordered from them instead of price matching at Office Works as OLC will price match them back. Thanks OLC!!!

I thought I'd share this deal I got on an Acer Aspire S3 13.3" Core i3 Ultrabook for my wife for Valentine's day. It's retailing at Office Works for $847 but I found it at Online Computer store for just under $700 (normally $768 but they are having a 10% off, 48 hour deal). I printed out the product page at Online Computer and Office Works happily price matched it + extra 5% bringing it to just under $664. My wife is very happy with it.

Acer Aspire S3-951-2364G34:
Intel Core i3-2367M processor (1.4 GHz)
13.3" HD 1366 x 768 screen, Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 128 MB of dedicated system memory
4GB DDR3 RAM / 20GB SSD + 320GB HDD
Wireless N / Bluetooth
HDMI 1080p / 2x USB ports / SD/MMC card reader / 3.5mm audio out
Win 7 Home Premium / MS Office Starter
3 cell battery
1 year warranty

It is incredibly skinny at 13mm, has very long battery life despite being only 3 cell (in one review it lasted more than 3 1/2 hours under extreme load test) and the SSD makes it very responsive when going to sleep and waking up. Note, there is no wired ethernet, no VGA out (HDMI only) and no optical drive.

I wish my wife doesn't read this.

Just dont put a computer in the kitchen or laundry and you will be fine.

      • -1

        ROFL sexist!

  • That is starting to get to the price they should be sold at.

  • Keep in mind that the 20G SSD is not accessable by user but by windows only.

  • Meanwhile, AMD aims to undercut Intel Ultrabook notebooks with Ultrathins (cue sanitary napkin joke).

If anything, I'd probably wait until AMD comes out with their own before buying.

    • +3

And then wait another 3 weeks for Intel to undercut them again? If you come across a good tech deal, just buy it there and then. In 3 weeks there's always a better deal. Such are the struggles of being an early adopter and an OzBargainer ;)

[EDIT] P.S. Great first post Zimble! :)

  • Nice price - I am in the market for two ultrabooks.
Think I'll wait for Windows 8 (or the free Win8 upgrade voucher)
I also prefer an SSD drive and the 1600x900 res that the new models are all coming out with.
Think I'll wait for a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga.

Good deal at the moment though so +1

    • good memory on the microsoft upgrade vouchers.

I also want at least 1600x900 resolution

  • great price, just a shame about the terrible battery. why make an ultrabook then cripple it like that? 6-cell minimum should be a requirement set by intel for these.

    • weight perhaps?

they are meant to be light, but a 6-cell might be too heavy?

    • weight and thickness. Even the MBA has poor battery life because of its form factor. Going to need an improvement in battery technology industry wide - nothing bar underclocking the CPU and other software mods that sets manufactures apart.

and yet Asus did a good job?

  • This is a great price.

Shame I bought the U31F from computeralliance for $499 otherwise i'd be all over this.

    • Relevant display picture.

    • Can you please share details?
EDIT: sorry, just noticed that you may have got the 480M - I was after the 2410M or something from the second generation

Now we are talking…all ultrabooks should be around this price.

They just saw the margin Apple are making on MBA and took $100 off. Fail.

  • For those who want a bit more speed (i5 and 256GB SSD):
    http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…
after the same 10% off for 48 hours it comes to $1092.77 + shipping.

In addition they mention a $99 cashback, but the exact model number is not in the official list by Acer, so don't bank on that. For me that $99 difference is make or break on that deal. Waiting for clarification on this issue.

  • Great price! Please post the receipt when you get the chance as I can't seem to find this deal from OnlineComputer anymore… :(

  • The price has increased again

    • Up to $799 now.

are we going to see i3 fall under $500??
    I am shopping for a laptop for my grandma…..need a budget laptop…XD

    • I got an i5 13.3inch lappy from computer alliance for $499

    • yes, like yourself, patiently waiting :-)

  • Great price. Now ppl can forget about their $199 netbooks……

    • r u kidding? this one is 400 extra…and I can buy 2 more netbooks :q

  • Hi Zimble, any chance you could upload of the receipt from officework? since the onlinecomputer has increased the price :(

  • Good price, I bought one for the missus from DSE for $780 with a free sleeve last week when they had 20% off.
Tried to match at JB but they couldn't do it at 3 different JB's, wonder if anyone had any luck matching a price $80 lower lol

      Hi baz123

To be honest i hate OW :p

If you want to get another Acer S3, bring the invoice to our shop we can beat by 5% for Acer S3 Ultrabook.

      Thanks

      • Does that mean that you are offering it for $664 if we don't want the printer, or do we have to do the running around to get a quote from officeworks first?

  • Wonder what is the best price onlinecomputer can do with OW price match plus I do not want the laser printer

  • With the 20% off at the GGs today, you can pick up this laptop for $677 as their advertised price is $847.

    • Called GGs. No discount, still $847.

      • Did you mention the 20% discount they are offering today? This one here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/63209

        • It doesn't apply to things that are already on special…. I was going to get a ASUS U31 from them, they had it listed for $699, they offered $687….

  • But this machine is not on special.

It says up to 15% off computers. Could even be no discount with that wording.

  • For the price I bought this laptop I'm using now ( purchased this Dell Studio 1555 in February 2010 and it costed me $1200 ! I can't believe that I can get 2 laptops/ with better specs and processor 2nd gen. for that price! But now what can I do. with this old laptop? No-one will want to buy it and you can't upgrade. Oh Bother!

  • Thanks to this post, I have an ultrabook :) This rocks

  • the cpu is too slow, not a full ssd, this dosnt really look appealing at all….
