  • hmmm… this is good… regretting my sumo purchase a bit now…

    • +4

Don't stress .. sumo is not a Seiko 5.. you're all good mate

    • +4

Sumo is in another league. Don't even stress.

      • -4

Sumo is better but not three times better

        • +1

          …anyway…. got one

    • Mine is +1sec. Incredible accuracy for the price.

  • +1

Really like the look of this one!

  • +1

Nice 45 mm just the right size for me :)

  • -1

Cheers, ordered two. These Japanese Domestic Market [JDM] models will prove a wise investment down the track. https://imgur.com/a/mJEHzi7

    • ?

    • ?

    • Why will it be a good investment?

      • +3

Because this particular model will likely see a significant increase in value over the next 5 years, particularly if Seiko limits production. I'll see a better return on my $478 than I would if I invested it in the market. Investing in watches isn't for everyone but I enjoy it. The hard part is resisting the temptation to wear them. Not sure why people feel compelled to down-vote me, but such is OzBargain. ;)

        • +3

People taking advantage of good deals for arbitrage/investment hurts the spirit of ozbargain a little but its understandable.

          • @gakko: That's an odd thing to say. I'm taking a risk on an investment by buying two watches being offered at a good price. Not sure how that "hurts the spirit of OzBargain". You're free to buy ten from Starbuy if you wish, this deal is not exclusive to OzBargain.

            • -2

@[Deactivated]: Ya no shit. I'm explaining the downvotes more than taking a position.

              • -2

@gakko: I think you're explaining an imaginary code of conduct that exists only in your mind. Something like, "Buy only one of any item posted and you must wear it (or use it) or you will be rightly downvoted". Very strange. But it's a moot point because I care nothing about being downvoted on OzBargain. Fire away. ;)

@[Deactivated]: "Not sure why people feel compelled to down-vote me, but such is OzBargain. ;)" I guess you didnt like the answer

                  • -1

@gakko: You made up some nonsense that buying two watches "hurts the spirit of ozbargain". Anyway, each to their own. You bought one, I bought two. I upvoted your comment about your purchase. Enjoy your watch, whatever you do with it.

                    • @[Deactivated]: yes, I made up an answer which I still think is true. What do you want - a research article?

                      • -1

@gakko: Well, I'm glad you can see that you're just making up things and believing they're true. No need for a research article, letting you talk has been interesting enough.

                        • +4

@[Deactivated]: when someone hurts the spirit of ozbargain they really hurt themselves.

Recently sold my lightly used 1st gen seiko orange monster for a profit of 400 bucks , that I paid180 5 years ago ! Will take a punt for this model here . if Seiko discontinue it then I expect similar price appreciation .

        • 180aud new? where did you find it for that price?

          • @swings: Yes brand new . Bought it from eBay , the vendor called ozmobile , but they no longer sell Seiko .

            • @demoiree: that was an amazing price for a sumo, even 5 years ago.

              • @swings: Sorry it was not a sumo. It was the orange monster SKX781

                • @demoiree: my bad I was meaning the monster. anyway great deal you got at that time.

  • +1

Bought. Great deal, thank you. Been looking for a good seiko prospex for a while with my eye on save the ocean king seiko but this is much more within my current budget. Thanks OP

  • What about this?
    https://starbuy.com.au/seiko-prospex-sne551p/

    Not sure what to buy

    • If you don't mind paying 200$ extra on the top of this one .. yeah why not? It's a solar not automatic.

      • Thanks HandsomeMonkey, I bought the automatic one

  • I'd buy if i didnt have few to many expenses coming up D:

    • +3

But this watch will help you make more money in the future because you won't be late to work.

      • -5

Now now, watch investments are against the spirit of OzBargain. Making yourself poorer is the ethos you must aspire to.

    • There's always afterpay ;)

  • +1

I bought this watch approximately a year ago from starbuy for &319.
I was a bit hesitant when buying, but it is a quality watch, and sits beautifully on large wrists. Design is a bit tapered from sides and looks very nice. I love wearing it. The only thing I would say is, it doesn't hold the energy for more than 2-3 days of inactivity. Which is,, actually fine is you wear it often. But it is an absolute bargain for this price

    • +1

2-3 days is great .. it's automatic .. the problem is your expectations and not the watch

      • +1

        Haha thats true.

  • +1

Good price, but this looks like a big chungus watch for the average wrist…?

    • Seems most watches right now favour massive bezels. Watches that used to be mens size are apparently unisex or even womens.

  • King Samurai SRPE35K wish this get a discount again, I didn't get it last time, but then I saw it in a shop in real, and just wow it's a gorgeous watch.

  • +2

    thanks OP - bought
I really did not need this watch but couldn't help myself

  • What about this
Seiko SSB031 Men's Chronograph Stainless Steel Case Watch https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B007554XQU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

    • quartz vs automatic.
      40mm vs 45mm case.

      • I’d say 40mm is a better size for most people.

      • Thanks I bought the automatic bottle cap

  • Trying to resist

    • It's expired so that should help.

    • +1

Yeah im not private selling but ok. I quit.

      • lol I saw your joke thought it was great.

  • Gotta say in person, its certainly a nice watch but man that bracelet is sh!t.
