heres another awesome alternative. By all accounts this seems to be B-Die, not sure about the Crucial

    • Would this be a good match for the R7 5800 used in the Alienware R10?

They are great RAMs in my watchlist, but had been cheaper (139.99) a few days ago, also with 5% discount applied at checkout which is unavailable at the moment.

      • yeh i got them at that price with the discount. But the discount only applied to 1 pair. If i had placed 2 separate orders it would have applied to both. Either way im happy with the purchase. They are getting delivered today, so ill have some some pc building to do after work :)
They are the last part i need for the build they are going in

        • Now they can combine with 15% cashback starting from 4p.m.
          I will get 2 kits!

          • @shiningblade: Nice, mine arrived. Just need to get off work now so I can Chuck them in. Then I'll get to see how a 3950x does with a noctua nh-d14 air cooler.

Pretty sure Crucial/Micron make their own chips.

I have 2 sets of these Patriot Vipers (32GB total) running 3600MHz 16-16-16-36. I haven’t messed around trying to squeeze more out of the them, but I’m sure it’s possible.

    • Hey guys, not sure what RAM to get as I've been looking to upgrade from 32GB to 64GB as I'm finding that 32GB isn't enough.

I currently have an AMD AM4 3900XT CPU and later on will be looking to get a 5900X when I can find one for a decent price. I've currently got the Asus X570 Crosshair 8 Hero MB. I also don't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money, was looking to spend about $500 or so. Speed, I'd be fine with something like 3600Mhz, or less if the RAM overclocks to it with decent timings (I don't need Samsung B-die tight timings, but I also don't want crap timings either)..

Anyway, not sure what kit to get, and/or what capacity I should get (2 x 32GB kit or 4 x 16GB). I've been looking at either the Patriot Vipers that someone mentioned before and also Crucial Ballistix. The Ballistix prices seem to have gone up, though. I'm OK with either RGB or no RGB. I also use a Noctua NH-D15 Air Cooler, so I can't have a kit with tall RAM heatspreaders.

This is far superior than the OP listing. The Viper Steels are actually Samsung B-die so can be overclocked very well (I have mine running at 4x8gb with extremely tight timings 3800CL16-15-15-25-40)

The OP listing is probably Micron Rev E die and won't get anywhere close and are 50% more expensive.

Ram is not all made the same. Samsung B die is king.

      Updated op, thanks.

    I already have 32gb ram I don't need more.
    I already have 32gb ram I DON'T need more.
    I already have 32gb ram I don't need …more?

    • …. I now have 64gb ram, I might need more

  • No RGB :( no bueno!

  • Does it make sense to buy the 4000Mhz version and downclock it to 3600Mhz for better timings for a 5900x?

  • I have a 5800x with a b450 motherboard, I want 32gb of ram (edit: I've been running out of ram often), what do you guys recommend? 2 of these kits? 4400mhz might seem like overkill and I saw a 32gb 3600mhz kit for $250.

Planning on selling my current ram kit.

Get the Patriot Viper Steel 2x8GB 4400 19-19-19 kit. It's B-die so the timings will go pretty tight.

  • 32gb would be overkill if u r not doing any intensive tasks.

    • Dunno I play Star Citizen and 16GB is the minimum. Then again for an Alpha that's expected.
