Book Depository (.com & .co.uk) 10% off (Expiry 29th Feb)

950

Usual drill, 10% off either http://www.bookdepository.com (follow the link to the right) or http://www.bookdepository.co.uk (change the .com to .co.uk —> use http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/referafriend OR after you get the discount email, change the referral link to .co.uk instead of .com. The resulting splash page will open up the coupon code field.)

http://www.booko.com.au is good for price comparison.

YAY! I've been waiting for one of these. Yes, it's a refer-a-friend thing again.

You get one voucher for referring people, and more vouchers if said friends buy. It takes a few minutes to arrive, though. (UK; US hasn't arrived after an hour. >.>) Once you get the email, just click on the purple 'Redeem 10% off coupon' and note down the stated code on the page. ('Enter this code in the basket') Click on 'start shopping now' and pick your books, on the shopping cart or checkout page enter the code into the coupon code field.

The coupon code field will only be available if you have previously entered the site using the 'Redeem 10% off coupon' link in your email.

Edit: Yes, I originally put the .co.uk URL for this deal, thinking the codes would be cross-valid. Woe to me! XD Changed it to the .com which I tend to like better (cheaper) but that's not always the case, so remember to compare~ At least the discount's available for both sites this time..

  • Bookdepository.co.uk often seemed to be cheaper than the US flavour, but maybe that's different now with the current exchange rates.

And it usually delivers quickly; in about a week or so IME.

Another thing, each time I've ordered from bookdepository.co.uk via the abebooks.com site - now both owned by Amazon - it has been cheaper than ordering direct from BD, even using a BD 10% coupon.

Easy to check out at the time of ordering.

Depends on the books, that's why I said to check. The books I buy are/were almost always cheaper at .com.

Shouldn't the delivery time be the same? >.> I always expect a month (and I've ordered from both sites before), a week would be phenomenal; we'll see how it goes this time, haha.

      • Shouldn't the delivery time be the same?

        Not necessarily.

Maybe it was the books I was ordering (often but not always kid's paperbacks), but I cant remember a book from BD UK taking more than 8-9 days.

Same with Amazon UK; seems to be generally quicker deliveries than Amazon US.

But Amazon US has better range and often lower prices - if they actually condescend to sell to Australia.

However I have received books from both Amazon UK & US which had been shipped from a German warehouse.

        • Nah, US is much cheaper than UK at the moment.

    • Yep, .uk has traditionally been cheaper than .com for many/most items but that seems to have been changing of late. The two seem closer in price now than ever before.

  • Dammit! I made an order a couple of hours ago and missed out. Ah well, only $4 and they're cheap anyway, but still…

    HOLY @#$!@ HALLELUJAH!
How long has it been since they've done this.
Thanks OP - now I can buy all those books I've been waiting to buy….just to save 10%
    Ozbargain ftw!

    • I don't think they've had one of these 10% off deals since Amazon bought them out (last year??).
Probably keeping their BD customers at arms length from the Amazon faithful…
And now the free postage deal from AMUK has finished of course it's time to stock up on reading material, again ;)

As a side note…I have been tracking book prices and it appears they have raised the price of large books overnight? For instance. Frank Llyod Wright V.3 was $170 -> now $196. The complete X-Files was $140 now -> $158.
Prices are unchanged on most smaller items though.

They raised the price of the book I was watching from around $7 to $10… might wait to see if it drops down again.

    • I wonder if these increases have applied to Amazon as well? I've noticed a bunch of books in my saved items have jumped significantly overnight. One has always been $58, now it's $73. Of course, I may just be unlucky in my choice of books ;).

    • Yeah, i had same. Three comics was after worked out as ~$67 last night after discount; today they're ~$73 after discount (two of three went; only pre-order priced book didn't). Alas, wanted to order last night but internet cut out inconveniently right as was trying to proceed through checkout.

I'm really happy. Bought all the books I needed for Uni for just over $100 saving a bunch as opposed to buying it locally. I think they should all arrive by my first day back as well!

  • i've been waiting for one of these promos but the prices of the books that i wanted have gone up anyway and cost more than they did even with the 10% off

    your friends:

    [email protected]
    [email protected]

(note with gmail all 4 address above actually go to the same account as "."'s in gmail addresses are ignored)

    Book Depository US code

  • Thanks OP - just made a purchase and saved about $6.50.
    Cheers.

  • I was going to buy something but when I went back to the site today, the prices had jacked up about $10 or so on both sites, since a week ago. Not cool.

  • Agreed - prices are up on what they were when I placed my order. My books should arrive this week (maybe today!)
