Without the CR or SB 10-15% cashbacks these dont sound too good. lol we were spoilt

  • pretty decent SSD if you’re okay with not having the fastest R/W speeds. It has been outclassed though by the newer models running with 3.1 Gen 2 and 3.2 speeds

These were down to $199 just a couple of months ago..

Anything under 4tb is a skip for me, need it to either be blistering my nipples off speeds or high capacity

Price seems a bit steep for the T5

    • Yeah, feels like paying a lot of premium for 2TB external. Also, with T5, the SSD inside is SATA3 based…

    • Yep, would love for a 1TB deal at $119 again, kind of want one but nothing. Wonder if another shipment is coming or T7 is now the offering from Samsung. Nothing else (decent) to be had under $150.

  • any good 3.5 hard drive recommended? need one badly

    • What size?

      • 4TB plus!

trying to get some OW to pricematch

  • Feels a bit expensive vs recent deals, but then there's been a lot of volatility in storage pricing (thanks Chia) that it's hard to say what's a bargain now.

That being said, I'm avoiding any of the Samsung external SSDs now given the reported issues when used with M1 Macbooks.

    • What issues out of curiousity?

      • +1

I'm not an expert on this but from my casual Googling it sounds like the Samsung software to enable the encyryption (and on T7 the fingerprint sensor) had compatibility issues with the M1 architecture and running the drivers through Rosetta 2. There were some people also saying the drives were randomly disconnecting for some reason too.

        • This is the T5 though, without the fingerprint reader, so that’s not relevant.

          • @anniemal: T5 has the same encryption software as well. Nothing to do with the fingerprint sensor.

            • @jace88: I never bothered with the Samsung software and just re-formatted the drive and used the built-in Mac OS encryption.

  • I'm waiting for a USB4 drive.

Crucial with 1050MB/s speeds 2TB is the exact same price https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08C3XVP2P?smid=A4XRJ8S0WXSO0&t…

Half that for the 1TB model.

  • has anyone tried this for ps5 storage? is it good?

    • +1

yes it works like a charm! I have the 1Tb and I was waiting for a better deal on the 2tb

    • I got an 870 QVO (which has a cashback at the moment), and a sata to USB adaptor. Worked out cheaper, and works a treat.
