Good price! I hope it goes OOS soon… very tempting..

    • It's a very good camera, AFAIK it has the same sensor and electronics as the Canon 90D camera but in much more compact form factor.

  • Also, how do you know it includes the EVF?

    • +1

Because I purchased this camera a week ago when it was $1,198. :)

    • Thanks both, I just found out about it. good plus!

      • I have an M3 and it's a great camera. I used it with the EF(L) lenses using an adaptor.

        • I used to have the old EOS M1 that I sold for an EM10 Oly.. I feel like I would like to have something more modern and with a bigger sensor for Astro and Milky Way

      • External EVF is not perfect as it can't be used with flash triggers (I've got the Godox X2T-C) due to a special proprietary Canon EVF connector, but I found that using an LCD monitor for studio and some outdoors photography is quite manageable.

EOS M 50 Mark II vs EOS M6 Mark II ?

    • M6 would be better. M50 is more budget orientated

  • Paid $1450 about a year ago so great bargain. Great camera and I invested by buying the Sigma trinity as well.

Good camera and great price. Unfortunately have to pass as it's sold by hardly normal

    • Quality virtue signalling.

How is HN any worse than Amazon?

      • +2

amazon is not taking advantage of covid and using taxpayers money to get richer to start with. Can count many positive aspects of Amazon, you just need to use their service frequently to realise how easy to deal with amazon when things go pearshape.

        • Can count many positive aspects of Amazon

Yeah like underpaying staff while increasing profits by 200% during the pandemic.

They are just as bad as HN. Don't kid yourself.

          • @Flyerone: This is not the forum to discuss this, however you are kidding yourself thinking that most of the companies wouldn’t underpay their staff if they had an opportunity. It’s all about supply and demand.

            • @Justuser: I'm not kidding myself at all. I know most companies undulge in immoral practices, yet apparently duplicity is your thing. You'll happily support a company taking advantage yet not another, and then stand on a pedestal in a forum that "is not the forum to discuss this" to let us know you won't partake in a deal.
Like I said, quality virtue signalling there pal.

      HN rorted jobkeeper too

    • Thanks you gave me a very reasonable excuse not to buy something I don't need.

    let's hope Amazon price matches

    • +1

Yes, they matched the previous $1198 HN price, but looks like this camera is not in stock locally as it says "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months."

Also still not 100% sure if this camera sold by Amazon AU is covered under a Canon 5 year local warranty. It should be, but I'm just not sure. :)

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Canon-M6IIKIS-Digital-Camera-Mirro…

      • they matched but 1 to 2 month delivery

  • It is a great price for a very capable camera but I do not see much incentives to upgrade from my Canon EOS M50.

  • +1

Also, you might want to add a telephoto lens to this kit and DigiDirect has the Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens currently on sale for $398.4. Be aware however that this lens is out of stock as the status of my order changed recently to "awaiting product delivery". Typical DigiDirect I guess…

Amazon price matched, but it doesn't include AU warranty and no local stock:

    • can't we use EF and EF-S lenses ?

      • +1

Only with the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS M, but keep in mind that EF/EF-S lenses are quite bulky (like very disproportional) for mirrorless cameras:

it is good then, may be you can buy cheaper EF lenses then. Once, I got a "EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM " from ebay for around $200.

          • +1

@bazingaa: Yep, that's my plan. I'd prefer to buy an adapter for $150 and the EF 50mm F/1.8 STM nifty fifty lens for $200 rather than the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM for $800 (the only native prime portrait lens option for Canon mirrorless cameras). The nifty fifty lens doesn't look too bulky on the M6 Mark II.

            • @Mur: You can buy used lenses. They are built to last. I got my "Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II EF Lens" for $80 delivered. That "70-300mm" was listed as "faulty/parts only" mentioing focusing issue. But it works perfectly with my camera, anyway I loaded the lense profile to the camera as well.

  • Price match at JB?

    Nvm theyre awaiting stock :(

  • Great value. I have this camera and I love it. Grab a Speed-booster for it and watch it out perform a Canon R.

    • You mean for focus speed?

  • +1

How does this compare to the Canon M50? I have been waiting for the M50 to go on sale anywhere near its historical lows but it has been a long wait.

Only looking for something to record videos/vlogs & casual beginner photography for the best value

  • No C&C available around my area. Bought one with delivery! thanks :)

  • Thanks. Bought one. Additional 8% discount from corporate gift cards.
